Is there a server that still has a spirited community anywhere?

Bleeding Hollow
Vibrant cities.
Plenty of good WPvP. There is actually a horde guild dedicated to Wpvp.
I'm alliance... but I love those guys. :)
Loads of transmog runs... RBG's
The server community feel is about as good as it can be under the current structure.
That integral community feel all went out the window with the random finders and allowing players to have toons on both factions on the same server.
Yes it did exist, contrary to what some people say otherwise....on my original server I personally interacted with many of them and recognized a majority of them, prior to random finders.
Being a PvP sever I also knew who the main antagonists were from the other faction.
This was very important for the immersion feel of the game.
Now with MoP..for the first time in a long while..some of that is revived.
I do believe Wpvp has a lot to do with it. It was integral during my earliest days. It built bonds between players.
Using this horde guild as an example. They are a known quantity. When Wpvp is going on..you will read in chat "is so&so guild there?"
This is an important part of server immersion.
Just last night they took over the alliance pvp vendor location in Pandaria. The alliance massed and we went at it.
It was a tough friggin fight..those guys are good..but we managed to get it back...the comradeship afterwards is why I still hang around.
Comparative to the feeling you get if you are fortunate enough to still be a part of a close knit guild and you down that raid boss for the first time.
As for CRZ..I'm not sure people a grasping what this could potentially mean for the future.
Just the other day I went back to my original server...breaks my heart to see the current condition that it is in..but when I walked to the edge of the entrance of Stormwind and look out..I see nothing..then I take that one step forward, the guards disappear and a world of CRZ players reveals itself.
So seamless...hopefully the start of what will eventually lead to a larger pool of interactive community, AH's, friends, guilds...etc.
Then combined with the game play mechanics of today like party finders being utilized to quickly group with a known quantity, or to gather with a reinvigorated friends list, the game will become a "World" of warcraft again.
Blizz is taking the real long way around to getting back to it's origins....that you can read on the original WoW box... if you still have it :P
Peace.

One of the reasons I quit WoW a while back was because I felt that the game's community was in the process of getting burnt out on the game (and I don't really blame anyone). However, I can't help but feel that some of the best times I've had in this game were because people actually, y'know, GAVE a damn about their community and the game, and thus got into the SPIRIT of the game and actively DID THINGS.
I'm talking about:
- A bustling city, not just a few handfuls of people being holed up inside the AHs all damn day.
- Some actual world PvP, not a couple bored jackasses going on a guard killing spree every day.
- People asking for more players for dungeons and raids and actually getting replies (or has Dungeon Finder replaced that entirely by now?).
- An AH that's not completely ruled by a couple Chinese bot toons.
- Actually running into competition while questing instead of rolling your eyes after getting shot by some random level 85 (although it would be 90 now) Hunter on their way to the nearest FP.
Are there still any servers like that? Or has the game's community pretty much fallen asleep? I'm thinking about giving it another shot, maybe bringing some friends along for the ride if they're up for it.
Replies are appreciated.
Outside of a short period of time in Vanilla, world PvP has never been much more than what you just described. Nothing is ever going to bring back the Southshore / Tarren Mill days. Now, wPvP is going to be one faction attacking the others major cities once in a while, or maybe a good fight over a rare mob or something.
There is just too much else to do in the game now. People are too busy doing dailies, raids, LFR's, farming, or leveling alts to really care about wPvP. Add in the fact that it is almost impossible to find a "balanced" server, and that part of the game is just gone, except for the occasional random outbreak once in a while.
As for a "bustling city", there are plenty of people playing right now, but really, what you get are mostly trade chat trolls, spammers with "WTS <insert overpriced epic here>, pst", or people hovering on their newly acquired rare mount.
And yes, LFD killed pugging dungeons, save for a few people that look for a tank to group with to skip the que. Pugging right now is rare, because the content is still too new. You usually don't see a lot of trade chat pug raids in the first tier. Once the next tier is out, you will see the earlier tier start to pug.
And most AH's aren't ruined by bot farmers, they are ran by players that have decided they want to be wow moguls, and with huge gold stockpiles, have inflated prices like mad on most needed items.

you just described WoW from about 2 weeks into Vanilla until now.
