You can jump straight down and just kill a few groups of https://www.wowhead.com/classic/npc=13022 if you are careful and watch the patterns of the patrols soloing the Black Lotus if it spawns should be fairly easy though you will need some luck on its location on the grassy area.

I have found that it will be in one place per zone at a time. So once you find one. Don't bother looking for more Black Lotus until a reasonable amount of time has passed for it to spawn again.

I have found if you are willing to spend some time, you can probably pick up 5-7 of these in about a 3-4 hour period. I flew all over the world one day to see how many I could pick and ended up with 7 I believe, without too much hassle.

I just thought I'd mention that black lotus will spawn in only one location in a zone at any given time (the different locations can be seen on the maps above) and that it has a 60-70 minute respawn timer. Because of the respawn timer, it's not too difficult to dominate the spawns in one continent if you're keeping track of how long before a zone has a black lotus spawn. I will mention that I've seen a couple times where the lotus respawned sooner, but generally, I found a 70 minute respawn to be true.

stumbled over one when returning from Bronzebeards Camp, only 1 try since I'm a Tauren, 315 herbalism :) though, I think it was still orange - only one I've seen since I maxed herbs

I found one in epl in plaguewood somewhere smack in the middle of it. I don't use a coord system so I don't know exactly where it was. Was a nice find for something I wasn't looking for, lol.

The black lotus is necessary for all potions called "flasks".

These potions are incredibly powerful. And they also continue after death. I am not completely sure, but i think that the black lotus has a 48 hour respawn timer.

Playing WoW for over a year I found one in my whole "game" life. Located in EPL, Plaguewood. Found it while killing mobs for AD rep. My current herbalism skill was 270-280, so I roamed through plaguelands for hours to skill it up to 300 to come back and pick it up.
BL goes around 6-9g per flower on my server.

In answer to the person who wanted to know what this is used for. One of the uses I know of is for making Flask of the Titans.. probably the best potion in the game as it gives +1200 health for 2 hours :)

It's extremely rare to find this herb, so if you haven't found it in Winterspring, it doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't exist.

I found both of mine that i have in Burning Steepes. One in "the pillar of ash" which is sountheast of the spot where Gor'tesh spawns near the Dragonkin . And the other west of Blackrock Mountain near the temple, can't remember the name of the area, but it's the most northwestern area on the map. Hope this helps. And yes they are a RARE spawn.

haha, I guess you are not far on your server...a black lotus on our server, Magtheridon, you have to cough up 20 gold, and that's just bid, BO is @ 25-30g

in my playing time,i have found over 20,and sold/given all of them off,cause dont make any flasks,so no use for them =) and never farmed,just when as example farmed rep to WS furbolgs found a lot =)

As at 1 Apr 06, respawn is quite short.

I picked a BL from the *same node* in times much less than the 48 spawn time listed below. It was under 3 hrs when I noticed the spawn was up again.

Just worth noting if you are using the default Gathermate_2 Data, it is INCORRECT for Eastern Plaguelands, EPL .

This is because gathermate data is based on the WOTLK version of EPL which is squished a little bit to make room for the Death Knight starting zone.

blizzard made an update on how black lotus works in classic.
as posts may dissapppear or be difficult to find after some time (months/years), i add it here.

Via hotfixes, we’re working on several quality-of-life improvements that should go live in the next few days.

Black Lotus scarcity has been consistently among the top issues we’ve seen player feedback about, so we’ve decided to update how we handle Black Lotus spawns. Since the launch of WoW Classic, the game has used the spawn times and locations from original World of Warcraft, but population and social factors have led to Black Lotus being much more scarce than it was in original WoW. While these issues affect all mining and herb nodes to some degree, Black Lotus is especially affected because it has the special property of only having one spawn up at a time in each of the zones it spawns in.

In original WoW, designers planned Black Lotus around a technical limitation – only 10 spawn locations per node type could be active at the same time in the same zone. We no longer have that limitation, but it gives us a design intention that we can work with: Black Lotus was supposed to spawn in the widest variety of locations, while there could only be one up at a time in each zone. As always, our goal is to minimize differences from original World of Warcraft, and we feel this is a case where we can follow that design intention in a way that is warranted by modern conditions as well as beneficial to players.

We’re going to increase the spawn rate of Black Lotus, and we’re going to add many additional possible spawn locations in each of the Black Lotus zones. With a different hotfix, we’re working on making it so that a player cannot see a Black Lotus on-screen or on their minimap if they’re dead, unless they have 300 Herbalism.

We’ll have all of these changes noted for you in the next Hotfixes Update that follows them going live.

New hotfix has them spawning 2 every 15 minutes. The old locations are still valid.

Looks like whenever an elite spawns in the ARENA outside the dungeons, in the middle of DM, a Black Lotus might spawn with them.

I saw 2 elites on a dead server and 2 Black Lotus spawns on the ground along with a couple of other herbs.
