I’ve done some testing and this is the best method to find and beat him (note that I’ve done this on easy and got the rune):

To locate him, do the following:

1. Go to settings -> General -> and set Minimum Character Name Size to the maximum possible.

2. Create the following macro:

/targetexact Wandering Swordsman
/targetlasttarget

3. Now just spam the Macro. You are able to target him from insane lengths, so it will be easy to locate him.

Once you’ve found him, talk to him, select your preferred difficulty, and you will be ported to the boss. I suggest you take Victory Rush so you can heal during the fight. The boss has three abilities to watch out for:

1. Cleave: A red marker will appear on the ground and that’s where he will cleave. Just jump to the other side of the marker.

2. Pushback: He will summon purple circles on the ground, which will push you back and knock you off the platform once he finishes the cast. To avoid the knock back, run to one of the pointy edges of the platform, and FACE HIS WAY! If you turn your back to him you will be knocked back.

3. Adds: At some point he will summon adds. These are easy to deal with on Easy, just one shot them and use Victory Rush to heal.

Also of note, that only one person can fight the boss at a time. Once someone talks to the Wandering Warrior, he will be ported to the boss, and the NPC will disappear untill the person fighting the boss wins or dies.

Did not check wowhead, found a wanderer, talked to him, fought against a giant anubis, did not know what is going on, got knocked back and died on one of the AQ40 buildings, got insta ported to westfall BTW THE OTHER CONTINENT, had to spirit heal and lose 4g - was an awesome experience :)

Worst Design ever. Make him despawn and spawn random all over the map. Make you hate other warriors because he gets tapped and despawn every few seconds. The boss is way too hard for casual players. WTF is this nonsense Blizzard?

As of today you can complete the fight on easy mode and receive the rune

If you want to go to the wandering swordsman for the trials, you can actually avoid trying to find him. There's a tablet at 17.66, 89.57 in silithus that will take you up.
