Templar's can be soloed in good gear, or duoed with junky gear easily. They drop an Abssyal Crest used for a turn in at Cenarion Hold for a sack with a Green Item and Food or Pots in it or to summon Dukes.

Each templar occasionally drops a blue item specific to it too.

To summon a Templar you must have 3/3 of the Twilight Cultist Gear, you must also be Friendly with Cenarion Circle. You can activate any of the lessar crystals in the Twilight Camps to summon him.

If you're after these guys for the quest or the dagger, like i am, beware; they do 1000-1500 damage flame buffets and hit for 500+. Bring friends because if you die you loose the twilight set you used to summon it >.<

You can easily take all of them down with a priest and a rogue, since Crimson Templar's can be stunned, you just stun them when they do that fire thingie on you, that increases fire damage taken by 1000, the priest dispells it and you'll whoop its ass easy as hell :p

definitely hardest of the 4. im a 57 rogue and tried it with a 60 hunter and 60 paladin and we got owned.

soloed as a 60 rogue, bring a fire pot and a health pot, and some fr gear. They hit hard but they cant take much damage. 2 people can easily take down these guys and any other templars. Still no dagger yet =(

These are cake to solo with a lock.....sadly i got the crystal tipped stiletto and had to dissenchant. I cast curse of doom....banish rank 2....banish rank 1....get to range shadowbolt. I fear when they almost get to me, then i hit with 2 more shadowbolts and they are dead. You can also do it by just fearing and shadowbolting them with the curse of shadows.

Based on multiple tests and repair costs..

Crimson Templar:
72-80 fire hits.
Nukes avg: 250 fire damage,
Nature damage close to 700 a pop.
Knock away - entagling roots.

Maybe they all do nature damage. Didnt see any flame buffets unless it was done very quickly and was eaten by the spell (combat log didnt list it though). Biggest damage on my pet was done by nature earth shocks (earth shock hits you for 690. then i folded.)

I'm going to try them with a pet that has 120 NR (+60 from aspect) and 120 FR maybe it will go easier. I dont think they have lots of hp, dont have any raw data but i'm comparing them to Ziggurat Guardian from EPL or ursius.

Update: the above resistances makes them easier if you're a hunter. You can outheal the damage they do quite nicely.

I would like one of these myself but theres a question to this:

1) how much Fire restiance do you need?

2) Are they hard to kill?

3) How does it really take?

It is possible for a 60 mage to solo. Just keep fire ward up and ice barrier if u have it. Then frost nova to keep him in place and spam frostbolts.

piece of cake.

Once you summon him, draw your distance, and send in VW. After that put all your dots on him (CoA, Corruption, siphon life if you have it), and then shadow bolt. You should be able to cast two shadow bolt before he's near you. Cast fear when he's close to you, and repeat previous steps.

remember to bring back your pet when you start casting fear, otherwise your pet may break the fear. And dont let Crimon Templar gets to far from you, he may dispawn.

I usualy cast 1 fear and 3 shadow bolt and he's dead depending on your gear, you may take longer, my shadow bolt hits him 1000+

Since patch 2.0, this quest has been bugged. This is a recognized bug which multiple GMs have told players is in the process of being fixed. But for now, there is in fact a way around the bug!

To get around the wind stone bug of patch 2.0, you must take the following steps:

1) Join a group.
2) *Possibly* you may need to be leader of the group.
3) Put all three pieces of the Twilight Cultist set on.
4) Log out.
5) Log back in.
6) Touch a lesser wind stone.
7) Kill the templar that appears out of the wind stone.

i have 3 sets , a shard and a damn ring but it doesnt work! maybe the ring im using is not the right 1, can u tell me what to use? thnx!

I can solo all these templars as a warrior, gear is mainly blues and 2 MC epics. The only hard one is the Hoary Templar so for that one i use recklessness. Another tip is to use intimidating shout to stun them, and then bandage up.

Since my other post, this guy has been "fixed". His Flame buffet did 1300 damage and added 1000 before. It does 50 now and adds 100.

They're all soloable in good equipment.

At everyone's who's asked, these mobs are summoned by putting on the three pieces of the "Twilight Trappings" (the mantle, cowl, and robe) and use a lesser wind stone.

A 60 pally and myself were killing these left and right (I'm a warrior, ms/fury build) I have around a 25% crit rate unbuffed in battle stance, so i do a lot of damage. I attack the boss and kill it, while the paladin makes sure i have blessing of light on and heals me, usually never going below 90% of his mana. Was very fun, no blues though :(

P.S.
Rogues can solo all of the templars, I've seen it done-just keep them stun locked and be fairly good :D

He's harder than the rest of the Templars by quite a bit. Duo-ing is very unlikely unless you're in FR.

Flame Buffets for 1400, adding probably 300 fire damage to each attack, and nukes for 2000.

Was very easy to duo with a shaman while I had 330 fire resist.

Easily solo-able by a 60 lock.

Elemental, and can be banished if the need arises to bandage. Banishing is much safer than fearing because of the high amount of adds that wander around the wind stones.

Sux0rs that he's immune to fire, of course. Void holds agro, DoT and Shadowbold spam. Death coil when the need to heal arises, and banish while he's still running.

The twilight trappings set you wear while summoning is consumed when the mob spawns. It doesn't aggro straight away so you can equip your usual gear before the fight begins.

We took him on and were fairly okay, with only the shaman dying. Its about as tough as the fire elementals in BRD, same kind of attacks.

This is a b*tch to solo as a druid, with the stupid flame buffet he spams hes spells with 800-1k dmg every few seconds...feral druid atleast
I soloed it with starting up with Regrowth+rejuv, going all out in bearform, at half hp, when fully stacked flame buffet is on stun, shift out root and stand atleast 10yards away so he cant cast on you, wait till the debuff wears off and repeat until it dies.

I can solo these without *too* much of a problem as a 60 shadow priest (with good blue gear).
Fear whenever it's up so you dont' take as many hits, keep SW:P and Vampiric Embrace on them at all times. Mind Flay when possible, because it uses less mana, but only when it's not being interrupted. I burned a mana pot and also had to bandage during the fight, and ended up close to death and oom by the time it was over.

This guy's got a knockback effect that throws you a good 40 yards back... make use of it to get off some extra spells without retaliation, but also be careful that you don't get launched into adds.

Here is how the summons at Silithus windstones work:

The summon has 2 properties: A) Difficulty and B) Elemental Type.

A) Windstone type dictates difficulty of the summon (easy to hard: Templar => Duke => Royal).

You need a full Twilight Trappings set to summon a templar at a lesser windstone.
You need a full Twilight Trappings set + Twilight Cultist Medallion of Station to summon a duke at a windstone.
You need a full Twilight Trappings set + Twilight Cultist Medallion of Station + Twilight Cultist Ring of Lordship to summon a royal at a greater windstone.

B) Crest/Signet/Scepter remove randomness of elemental type of the summon (Air, Earth, Fire, Water). Type of element after crest/signet/scepter controls elemental type of the summon. Without crest/signet/scepter, elemental type of the summon will be random.

Type of item is linked to difficulty level of the summon.

Crest controls => Summon Templar from a lesser windstone in Silithus
Signet controls => Summon Duke from a windstone in Silithus
Scepter controls => Summon Royal from a greater windstone in Silithus
