“Negative comment about the reactive nature of this change/improvement.”
I agree 100% ! I hope they do that !`
Finally!
So here is to hoping that they give "free" or reduiced costs to move all our toons to our main server
They honestly should do what ESO just did with races, (ESO changed the racial traits for all their races) except for servers. To give their players who feel like this would nerf their race or what have you, they gave all accounts 3 free race and name change tokens and put them on sale for a bit. So if someone felt like their race was no longer good they would be able to change 3 of them and if they wanted more they could do so at reduced cost. So giving accounts a few free transfers (not including faction changes) and putting the transfers on sale for a month or so after release of 8.1.5 would definitely be cool of them.
a useless buff for me. i need more toons per ACCOUNT not per server. is anyone at all super excited about this? especially as someone mentioned, is going to make a really ugly LOONG list on char selection. if they add in free server transfers on a per faction basis (on uneven servers the dominant faction can get off but not get on and servers lacking a faction allow poeple of that faction in etc) then this would be nice. of course that ain't gonna happen though. blizz needs the money since bfa sux and everyone left. i play on 6 realms because of the old cap which was a bummer back then, but the advent of xrealm playing did away with that downside and i now enjoy the organizational aspect of having the toons divided into those 6 realms. (12 main on 1 server, 12 alts on 2nd server, twinks/pvp toons on 3rd server etc) it became a nifty compartmentalizing organisation bonus. and i can't imagine playing without that now.
Unless they're gonna let me move the rest of my characters for free, this changes nothing for me.
...so you can have all your toons on a single realm AND maybe so Blizz can make hard money selling a load of realm transfers?
Cool! But how will the character screen work, I wonder? Already seems cramped and I HATE that scroll button
In the words of Tychus: "Hell, it's about damn time!"
Is this a good change? Well yes, though I suspect one of the reasons why many are a bit negative is that it's a long overdue change. Like many, many others I'm now at 49 characters on my main account with another 16 on a second account. If (and that's a mighty big if) Blizzard were to ever increase the 50 characters per account limit I hope they would also provide a way for those with two (or even more) accounts to merge the accounts into a single account. Though I very much doubt they'd ever do that because it would mean a loss of income for them. If they remove the reason for having multiple accounts they lose the monthly subs from all those extra accounts! Give that a thought for a little while!Even though I like this change I will not be paying to move any of my characters, so unless Blizzard provides free transfers for a short time after this goes live then all of my characters will be staying right where they are.
Now we need more classes. The allied races are great, but having to repeat the same classes there are only 12 classes and now a potentially unlimited variety of races.
Free transfers would be nice, but I don't think it's going to happen. Another transfer/race change sale, on the other hand? That would be almost as good, and seems much more likely. (I'm only a moderate altoholic - all classes for each faction, and a few misc alts scattered elsewhere. No allied race characters yet, but soon...)Regarding guilds, another nice change would be to allow guilds to be multi-server. That would be complicated by guild banks and the no-cross-realm-trading rule, but that can be worked around. For the character selection screen, I'd like to get to all my characters from the same screen, or at least all my characters on connected realms. (I only have one character where this is really an issue, but my poor horde monk gets hardly any love at all.)I also think it would be nice to have more joined realms. Since so many physical/virtual servers are required for the game, and there's so much phasing/sharding, the original realm limitations are very outdated. Why not have clusters of 5 to 10 realms? That would help with guild/realm issues, and having all the economies connected would definitely make things more interesting.
Shrug, can't even use this feature since I'm at 50 and already have to delete someone for a zanda troll for the heritage run. A very cool feature that is too late to be useful.
Desperately need that 50 character account limit lifted!I've been at my 50 character limit for almost 3 years now and as an altoholic it really hurts!I don't even have a single allied race character because I hit the cap before they were introduced. :(
I'd love to see them change the realm transfer system so that when you buy it you select which realm you want to transfer to and which realm currently has your characters, then you choose which characters on the old realm you want transferred to the new realm. That way it's more of a realm to realm based transfer rather than a character based transfer. It would feel more "fair" since it currently costs more than 2 months of game time to move just one character with a fully automated system, and most people have at least a couple of mains, anyway.I've never used the character transfer system other than when it's been offered for free simply because of the high price.Since I actually like leveling characters it feels more punishing than leveling a whole new set of characters; Even if that's made me end up hitting the 50 character account limit - but the 50 character limit just makes me feel like I don't want to play anymore rather than make realm transfer seem like a better option...Maybe that's just me, though...
Oh yeah this would be absolute great, except I've already got my account maximum of 50 characters after playing for so many years, and they're already spread over many different servers, and you know Activision-Blizzard isn't going to give any free realm hops out and I'm definitely not willing to delete characters I've put this much time and effort into, and I'm not able to spend that much money to consolidate them.So until they raise or remove the account-wide cap, this is really very useless for me and seems rather stupid in general. If they change/remove the account-wide cap, THEN it'll be something.
If they (the WoW Group at Activision, calling them this because not sure we are really dealing with Blizzard Entertainment anymore) are going to finally offer the increase in the amount of characters on each realm, are they going to give FREE SERVER TRANSFERS to those who want to get their toons on the same server, instead of spreading them out on a server group? I think once implemented, Activision (Blizzard) should say "you have 1 week to transfer your toons, 'on us'. One can dream can't they? Pretty sure this won't happen. Hahaha! Just a suggestion and something to think about. If this is the case, then are the number of Characters a person can create and play going to increase; because isn't the limit 50 anyway? (Spread across your Account.) Not that someone actually does play 50 Characters, but then again, someone might.
