hot damn
i'd rather spend an hour getting world buffs than spend 250g on a flask, but i still will have to do both haha
Do people unironically care about parsing in classic...?
Cool. Nice that these buffs can be better tracked... but does it really matter? Isn't parsing about achieving the highest output. Period? You can draw direct parallels to the live game. Groups without Monk/DH debuffs or lacking all the relevant stat buffs don't have separate categories. Even if you split the categories, for parsing, you are going to have one (probably the WB included set) seen as the more legitimate list. I guess if parsing high in a sub section makes people feel really good, so be it but I can't help thinking that defeats the entire point of striving for high parse in the first place.
New Meta:parsing w/out world buffs. I'd be down for that.
What happened to No changes?
What's hard to get about the idea of aiming for a high parse? It makes raids go smoother by encouraging players to try harder even on bosses they've killed a hundred times. Right now world buffs are optional, but once Naxx comes out they won't be, so all those people who are getting buffs and making flasks now are going to be better prepared for the real challenge to come. And for those that consistently turn up to just auto-attack unbuffed, you can probably expect to be guildless come Stage 6.
These differences are both funny and sad at the same time. On retail, noone is talking about Classic - on Classic, people are constantly bashing the retail players, it seems it's a literal hate there. On retail, people laugh about LFR difficulty level - on Classic, people actually spend more time getting world buffs than actually raiding, just in order to do a raid that is arguably lower than LFR difficulty. It's both comical and interesting to look at, at the same time.@Prolapsed they're pretty much expected now too, for BWL raids. Will be really interesting to see what is going to happen if there's actual 'progress' on C'thun, are people going to port in order to get world buffs again, after a wipe? As ridiculous as it sounds, probably yes. Guilds have stockpiled on Head of Onyxia and Hearth of Hakkar for this reason.
Such things destroy Classic. People play here because it has no competitive stuff like in retail. And you just keep encouraging them to pay attention on that stuff.
Look.. all this talk about world buffs mattering in "new" content in classic. Most guilds, because very few of you are in top guilds, are going to wipe within the first 4 bosses and lose everyone of those buffs, cooldowns on these buffs will still be up and it makes zero sense to go get more to just wipe immediately again. World buffs ruin the game, anyone arguing that it is more legitimate just enjoys the extra big NuMbErSSss. Speed running BWL - if that's your thing amazing.. is it probably all 40 peoples thing? There is no way. If it is, then you find yourself in a guild that will be top 5 in all content speed and execution wise because well, it's everyone's thing. When I think about making posts about WoW I try to think about how I was a few years ago when I started, OVERWHELMED AF. Coming to these posts about trivial things and seeing all the weight put on FAKE AND RENTED power (which I might add EVERY NECKBEARD complains about rented power being something they HATE in retail) you do this amazing game no justice. World Buffs Ruin Classic WoW - period. I'd love to see guilds stop caring so much about them and compete in the non buffed genre. Someone said earlier that World Buff parsing is more "legitimate" - HOW? It's 100% not because it's not. It's that simple. Picking a flower that gives you 5-10% crit for an hour? legit! standing in Org for two world announcements that yet another guild has defeated Onyxia so you all deserve a HUGE amount of stats for 2 hours? legit! still in Org waiting to hear that another player was boosted by a chinese bot in ZG and finally did their Warlord's Command Quest so here's 15% BONUS ATTACK SPEED? LEGIT AF. For context I'm a sweaty orc warrior in an overwhelmingly sweaty guild that disagrees with 90% of the way we do things. But we do clear BWL in 38 mins, wow.. amazing.. "just leave" you say.. I have built a relationship with the guild and its DKP system to a point of where I'm a prisoner until I can afford that next big ticket item I'm after just so if I did leave it wouldn't be another 3 weeks before I was eligible for loot in a new guild. When a really well geared, good IQ player leaves your guild and you're confused, be sure to look in a mirror and review how you run your guild. If all you care about is narrow minded speed times and World Buffs, they're going to keep on leaving you and your roster will look so much different by the time Naxx comes out you may not even be welcome in your own guild. YO! JUSSSS SAYYYIN.
