No Name Reservations Planned For Season of Discovery

According to Blizzard, name reservations prior to the launch of Season of Discovery are not planned. Unlike during Classic's and Season of Mastery's launch back in 2019 and 2021, players won't be able to reserve their favorite name in advance this time around.

According to Senior Game Producer Josh Greenfield, Blizzard has "good reasons" not to do name reservations:
In a Twitter/X thread following this reply, Greenfield provides more insight regarding the lack of name reservations. He also explains why the development hasn't released a list of realm names yet: By not releasing server names too early, Blizzard wants to avoid players from getting too attached to their realm of choice, which has caused issues in terms of balance and server performance in the past:
