Most likely gonna be some corrupted angels rather than pure ones, like those corrupted by hell in the act 4 of D3 or reapers from RoS
Probably Inarius isnt melted into nothing ! so i assume he is coming back with other angels that followed him to Sanctuary
zigrifid and kinda kubarian beat me to it.Angels have 0 reason to be striking out against humanity when they've been getting decked by demons since forever and humanity is the only reason they even survived d3.Fallen angels, led by inarius is probably the safest bet.Kinda sad though how not just in diablo, the same is true for most games but yeah good guys get corrupted all the time while demons never get "redeemed" kinda makes the whole setting feel hopeless(which i guess is the point but still would appreciate demons getting their asses kicked for a change or having a traitor in their ranks).Because lorewise none of what we do happens except for the big wins and the hells have been firmly in control throughout the games, humanity is at best defending/resisting them(the one time inarius went for the offensive push it ended in abject misery cos it was horribly coordinated+no heavenly host support).
The angels came to claim "Tyrael's Might", but the humans refuse to give it up and now we have a conflict and since some humans are much stronger than any angel ever will be, they will send millions of angels, probably billions since the players... tend so dispatch an impressive number of mobs every season(al theme).
Rathma served Trag'Oul, the guardian of sanctuary, for centuries. We see this in the base campaign, , and in doing so they kept the Balance within Sanctuary. Not a realm of demons, not a realm of angels but a sanctuary for those who originated from it. Angel and demon are both outside forces who as a whole have proven to use Sanctuary as nothing but a battleground.
I hope that Inarius is coming back. He was done dirty by writers of base game
feel like ppl read too much in to this. naturally lilith devotion would mean against both world, so thematically it makes sense to have both angel and demon dmg, even tho they wouldnt have angels to fight with. -fanservice-
Hands off Imperius, he is violent, but he clearly knows the limits of his responsibility. It would be better to give a new aspect of wisdom, which in human form would clean up the damage from the previous aspect. It would be possible to make an arch of redemption for the reapers of Malthael, who survived and were left without a master. Angels are very territorial, they will not attack people for no reason, especially now that the canon has been rewritten and people are no longer imba.
All I want is to see Tyrael again as angel form, I don't care how it happens. Just bring him back please.
tbh I would have found the Diablo 4 story much more interesting had there been a twist for the player to work with Lillith to save Sanctuary/humanity from description, but instead we just got a Diablo substitute.
