So he left for seeing the light... the thing players have been begging for in the past 6 years. The social aspect of the game was destroyed for 'convenience'. Given the popularity of Classic (still doubled the subs after all this time), there comes a time where the suits at the top need to see that the guy leading the company, Mr. You Think You Do But You Don't, doesn't know what players want at all. On top of that, ever since acting Ion took up acting-Lead Dev in WoD, the players have been constantly at odds with the developers and only getting more and more vocal in their disdain for each other. Firing 800 QA people isn't the right choice, closing the HQ in France isn't the right choice. The shakeup in the game needs to happen at the top. Our leadership is lost on what we want and spiteful towards us for not liking what they create.
Hmm. I actually really like the overall direction in which the game has gone insofar as guilds are nice, but not NECESSARY to enjoy the game (though if you are in a guild, you get some great stuff, like mounts for guild raid achievements, etc). Also, the Group Finder was a huge in-game quality of life improvement. I enjoy having the option to run dungeons and bg's with my friends, but I also really enjoy the option to not HAVE to. I think a lot of Classic nostalgia is just that... nostalgia. I created a Classic character when Classic launched, and I forgot just how brutal Vanilla was. The game is so much better now.
Is Shadow going to be ruined now? The recent revamp was so good. Hope this isn't the end.
Seems like he is genuinely disappointed about leaving which is really sad.I wonder if Blizzard will ever take the hint.
thank god maybe someone else in charge of pvp will make it better
Thank you for making shadow priest great we wish you the best of luck! Find a gaming company that still has its soul! Good luck brother
Aweh, no more stick figure diagrams?
Sounds like a raid logger, no offense but good riddance, mmos evolve and more and more people want solo content instead of forced guild content
"In a virtual world, the players should be the story."To fix that, Blizzard created the worst cinematic in history of cinematics and ruined character who was developed for like 15 years.
I don't exactly get what he's saying, player driven story? Only in the most recent expansions have the players actually become important people in their factions and the story, we were treated as background characters essentially until MoP-WoD. There's barely any story in the zones of classic. Wrath onwards started showing an actual cohesive story in the questing areas. Also people would find ways around guilds even if they didn't change things, cross-server groups allowed friends to play together without being on same server, as a lot of people played the game and started on different servers and found out or met a new friend in real life who also played the game, and if they didn't allow this you never would play together unless one of you paid money to transfer or you started making characters on a new server which can be rough. Blizzard's decision to make cross-server groups possible was great in my eyes literally none of my real life friends play on my server, but I can play with them thanks to it. The decision to have a group finder with categories just is them creating something in game that people would probably just have done outside of the game, with discord groups or other platforms.
interesting, I think he has a pointthousands if not millions of people enjoy not needing a guild for every single activity in the game yet at the same time there's probably an equal amount that really likes what classic didI don't think there's really a middle ground to be had. personally I really enjoy not needing my guild, sometimes the stars just doesn't align and no one is on. how do you make the game more accessible yet make the guild relevant? it's an interesting problem with no clear solution
Watch OTK pick him up. Haha!
I'm happy that guild is not the focus in WoW nowadays. I don't want to miss out on content because I'm not in a guild. I was in a guild once upon a time (WotLK) and it's just filled with unnecesarry drama, even though it is a small guild. I had enough of drama IRL and don't need it when I'm trying to enjoy spare time.
Blizzard has lost it's soul when they merge with Activision, the lose of Mike Morhaime former CEO as well as Chris Metzen just to name a phew who started Blizzard from scratch and have now left really show how badly it's being manage sadly. The steady losses of employees also emphasis this problem.
That's bad, as a 15 years shadow priest player I really admire this revamp.
