1) No. The listed DPS means nothing. you pick druid weapons for their stats. Bear and Cat form have their own base damage. Melee attacks done in Moonkin or Travel form DO use your actual weapon DPS though.

2) Yes, when you have 3/3 Thick Hide and Dire Bear form after level 40, armor from your items is multiplied by 5.5 (increased by 400% plus 10% from thick hide). Armor from enchants don't count (which is why 12 AGI is better on a cloak than 120 armor, since that only is 120 armor, even in bear form)

3) Feral druid healing is all about gear. I've had feral druids do raid healing in Karazhan with their healing set on (not a good idea to Main Tank heal though). Honestly, what you're missing from Resto is Nature's Swiftness and Swiftmend. As long as you can get by without an immediate heal, it's gear-based for the most part. 5-man non-heroic 70's aren't that tough as Feral/Balance in healing gear either.

4) They're difficult to catch, and can heal while running. Ultimately It's not "resto" druids that are powerful, it's standard druid abilities, it's just that casting lifeblooms in Feral form won't do a whole lot for you, and you run oom faster. You'll note that balance druids with a high mana pool can be just as difficult to kill as a restoration druid.

5) Contribution points (honor points above what you get just from being in the vicinity of a kill) are given to a healer who has cast a heal on someone who performed the killing (or contributed to the killing). I get arseloads of honor on my shaman in Alterac Valley because I just chain heal whoever's in the thick of the battle
