Portal was a great game because it introduced a new idea. That new idea was wonderful to explore, and tantalized the imagination. Portal 2 is just Portal's reheated leftovers. Is there anything groundbreaking? Is there anything amazing? No. It is just a game. I'll pass.
The Matrix 2 and 3 had this same problem. They were just movies with special effects. The Matrix was the one that made your brain tie up in knots.

Gah, how would I write 4 = 3x + 2y in f(x) notation... ?

f(x) = -1.5x +2

I assume you'd rearrange it so Y = blah blah blah.
4 = 3x + 2y
4 - 2y = 3x +2y -2y
4 - 2y = 3x
4 - 2y - 4 = 3x -4
2y = 3x - 4
(-2y)/-2 = (3x-4)-2
y = -1.5x+2
f(x) = -1.5x+2
Dammit Jub.
Edit 2: Edited in-between steps for more clarity. It's basically just moving $%^& around until you can isolate Y and put everything else on the other side.

Ok now how did you do that? Heh. I need to do that for that function and another, and then find the inverse. I think I can do the inverse part, but our teacher didn't really go over converting functions into f(x) notations (E: At least functions that aren't like ' y = things' and whatnot), I think...
Hell, I don't think my teacher taught us half the ^&*! we have for homework. What the hell.

Check out what Orranis did.

Saying f(x)= is the same thing as saying y=
y is just a specific variable of the more general function f(x)

I would have never thought of that...
Thanks.
Related but unrelated, I was told by my guidance counselor that the teacher recommended me for Algebra II, despite not taking A1 or even geometry, and that he's going to put me in there anyway because "I'm a smart kid and can manage". I don't think that was a good idea anymore...

wtb more interesting threads.
Find an article on the internet and make a thread about it without linking it!
Lol, what?
I was poking fun of the fact that most threads he makes usually are about an article he found but he never really posts the article in question. :3

Algebra 2 was hard for me, I had a terrible (TERRIBLE) teacher. He would constantly be itching his nuts straight faced in front of the whole class, and is an incredibly smart person but has no experience with conveying his knowledge to other people. Anyone who got above a C in that class knew the material in advance. Then he sticks ridiculous amounts of extra credit onto everything so nobody fails and 'proves' he has taught us the material, and now I'm having an extremely hard time in higher Algebra 2/Trig. I think I might retake it now that a different person is teaching us. It's not even the new material that's hard for me as much as the review or when it's applied to new stuff (completing the square for example).

The review was sorta easy for me, but like you said, applying it to new stuff is where it gets tough. Especially considering the teacher expects us to have more experience with the old stuff than I actually do.
