My Blackwing Lair gear didn't last me till lvl 70 and i'd expect the same goes for BT and Sunwell loot when Lich King hits us.
It will be very good starter gear then but eventually there will be better blue drops and probably some greens too. New Expansions are pretty much a fresh start imho.
If you're asking about current gear equal to BT-Loot availiable to you, you should try badge vendors. If you can run Kara you'll easily be able to farm enough badges for wellfare gear which is mostly equal or better than what you get from raiding BT.

When TBC was released last January there was a total rebalancing of item stats (particularly stamina) which meant that the new TBC equipment was vastly superior to theoretically similar pre-TBC pieces. THat means that many pople who were in full 60 epics were replacing them within only a few levels. That isn't going to happen with WotLK. T4 (kara) level gear should be more than feasible for 4-5 levels into the 70's. BT/Sunwell loot will theoretically last until 80, with the 80 dungeons providing replacements.
Only stamina (and, to a lesser extent, armor) was changed. Everything else remained the same. Thus, apart from stamina, the progression will be the same.
Once you pick up blue gear from level 80 dungeons, tier 6 raiders won't have much of a lead over you even if they may not have replaced many items by then. Heroic drops should beat any level 70 loot quite handily, especially since Blizzard has promised to make better heroic itemization than at level 70.

If you take a look at the items from beta so far

Most or all of the blue items at the 68-72 level requirement range look alot better then t4/t5 and most of it looks close to what t6 loot offers but as you get to 75+ the loot becomes equivalant if not better
take a look for yourself here t5-t6 ilevel 128 -164

Thank you guys very much. The only addition to my question is with the little gold I have from over six months of not playing, will the people with like thousands of gold form farming the whole time really have a huge advantage in many areas?
During levelling, yes. But at level 80 there will be a lot more ways to get gold faster, so whatever they stockpile now would take you a lot less time to grind out at level 80. So don't worry too much about it.
