The auction house and you

so i would like to get some opinions here:
how do the rest of you handle the players who "own" the auction house?
you know who i mean, you go to list something, check it later and that same "Abcdefg" has undercut you by 1 silver with 20 of the same item.
no matter what item
.
now i know you cannot stop people from undercutting, i do it all the time ^_~ but how do you compete with these auction obsessed people who no matter what kind of item you are listing, they have 20 of in the bank to undercut you with at any time of the day or night?
is it wise to cancel and relist and undercut them back if it seems inevitable that yours would expire? and please understand i am not referring to stacks of fish oil or something useless, i am talking about high end items: titansteel epics, the most wanted gem cuts, the best flasks, enchants etc etc.
that same "Abcdefg" who you can't stand undercutting you that you end up buying your flasks from later because you have no choice :p
my characters are by no means poor and i generally manage my gold well and make use of a bank alt with their own guild bank etc etc. i have several maxed professions and so on.
i just want to hear other people's similar experiences and how you have handled it.
(and yes, if they only undercut me by one or two and i see i can make a profit, i will buy theirs out and relist :p)
please, only respond if you feel my frustration. i'm not trying to QQ. i simply would love to hear of ways to counteract this. and perhaps gain some insight on how some players are able to have an endless supply of anything and everything at their disposal to achieve ownership of the auction house!

Just make your auctions 'very long' and wait it out. If there is any demand for your item, as long as it is competitively priced, it will still sell.
Sure someone will buy that guys items first. But someone else will come along to buy yours.

hmm, perhaps i worded it poorly.
whether or not they have something listed already, after i post mine, i am undercut within a couple hours by the same person repeatedly.
i do price fairly (not being a fan of ridiculous prices myself).
but yes, i feel as though this person has it out for me O.o everything i post is undercut by them and with so many that it pretty much forces mine to expire and i only get that small window before i am undercut to possibly make sales.
it's not really an "issue" (although it is frustrating) my post was to ask who else has experienced this and what they have done to counteract it.
i have also tried to not undercut them, and list mine at the same bid/buyout as theirs, but they will come back and undercut themselves and me... what is the point?

If you think the person has it out for you then you should sell your items with a different character and see if it continues.

Thank you all for the replies, some very helpful advice here ^_^
I do dailies on 3 characters everyday, so i don't only make gold from the AH, although i find i get more money quicker through selling crafted items when Abcdefg is sleeping :p
Of course i exaggerated him/her having every item all the time, but that is from my frustration. Simply how it feels to me. You took that far too literally.
I think I will transfer my bank alt's guild to a different toon and go from there and see what happens. I also had some good advice from another player friend who suggested only posting my auctions for 12/24 hrs versus 48 so if i am undercut i can repost sooner rather than later. As well as do so during off hours.
Thanks again everyone!

well ... I post all the time. a few hundred auctions at a time.
I have around 10 of everything at any given time, aside from the "Really" hard stuff to keep around.
The fact of the matter is, search his posts in the AH - see how many compete with your own. if it's low - it's just random.
Auctioneer Automatically prices items a little below the mean of the number of items currently listed - so if yours is the "only" item of a kind, his will be lower.
you can test this by posting something at twice the price and see if he is just below you.
If you are posting all the time, and he is posting all the time, it could just be random, and you might not be on a highly populated server. I am on a Full server, and auctioneer scans around 450 pages of listings on average. Maybe there are just not a lot of "Item" posters on your server.
Hope I was able to help.
good luck.

I'm surprised no one has really suggested that it is a bot or gold dealer whose job it is to do exactly what you are describing.
I doubt he/she/it is targetting you specifically, just specific items and their target prices.
Anyway, I don't really have any suggestions that may be of use except to use Auctioneer and run scans as frequently as you can.
Good luck.

I know someone (not personally) who does something like this. He's gone past the gold cap several times via means of mutliple Bank alts, bank-alt guild-bank storage, and mailbox storage.

What? What exactly is the gold cap? That sounds ludicrous. I believe you,
but I think it's ridiculous for someone to be that into the AH and saving/making money.
