This quest is a PvP quest for the world event here. Basically, you hunt around the area and look for little geysers marked "Silithyst Geyser".

Using one of these geysers WILL flag you, and provide a "buff" that slows your movement speed. You then bring it to the machine in the horde encampment where it gets added to your faction's resource pool. You can't mount, or the silithyst you collected becomes a little mound of powder on the ground where you mounted. You'll have to go back and pick it up. For mages, Blink will work without dropping the silithyst powder. I'm unsure on the other methods of quick movement, like sprint, and travel form. If there's a high alliance presence, bring some escort with you.

Once you get the silithyst to the camp, you get a 30 minute buff that increases all your melee, ranged, and spell damage by 5%. I don't know exactly what you get if you get to 200, but I believe it's a buff that effects everyone in the area.

To get to the camp, just go to the little horde icon on the map. The camp's location is indicated by this gigantic red pillar sticking up from the extractor machine you put the silithyst into.

I have confirmed now that Travel form is affected by the debuff, and you don't go faster. It doesn't drop on shapeshifting either.

Don't know if they spawn at random locations, if not: there is one at 58.6,65.7.

Look for a small geyser thing on the grounds of silithus near hive zora and abroad. Right click to collect. They look like little glowing piles of dirt, and periodically toss a spout into the air.
Picking one up flags you pvp, so be warned.
Also, mounting once you have the glow will drop the item, and you're still flagged.
Return to camp near Zora and step into the gnomish machine looking thing (similar to the one outside IF to change into an elf at Christmas) to turn it in.
Speak with Marshall Bluewall to complete.
Don't forget, you are flagged.
As far as I know, the quest is not repeatable, but collecting the items and returning them in the same fashion will result in continued building of rep and honor.

Did this as 44 Shaman, was very hard, several deaths. (I know it says 60, but wtf, did anyway.)

You have a limited time to get the Silithyst to the gizmo. First pick up timed out on me. You can pick up the same Silithyst again when you rez.

Got 10 rep for the Cenarion Circle, 11 honor points and Traces of Silithyst, which gives you "Melee, ranged and spell damage dealt increased by 5%" for what I think was 15 minutes. Nothing else at all. The quest giver, General Kirika, did not have a ? over her head either. (Maybe because their was no Alli here?)

Guess will try again at 60 to see what happens.

If you are under level in Hive'Regal, mobs will aggro when you are in the camp and the NPCs DO NOT attack it.

As of patch 2.0.1, turning in Silithyst gives you a buff for +5% to all damage dealt. It lasts for 30 minutes.

Travel Form will not affect the dropping of item like you do with mounting, so you can use your ghost wolf/travel form at will..

Also, all gnomes should apply to become footballs for the NFL....

Continued turn in is 10 Rep and 100 Honor.

Both Horde and Alliance start at 0 and the first to reach 200 gains a buff for +25% Rep bonus for Beasts killed.

In current classic you are able to do this quest on a toon as low as a level one. It gives you a free level 5 if anyones looking for some free xp on new alts!

For some time now, we have been tapping the crystal resources of the Silithus desert. The only dangers we faced were from the creatures that made this place their home and the oppressive sand and dust and heat.

But now the Alliance seems to have caught on to what we have found here. It is now a race between us to capture the natural resources, and keep them from the other.

I need every set of hands that is available. I hope I have yours.
