Post patch 2.0 the rep you gain is 75 (I assume 80 for a human? Not sure I don't play humans.)

With Scattered Crate it is possible to achieve Exalted reputation with Stormwind. It is a long and laborious grind.

At level 45 or below you get a mere 25 rep per The Lost Supplies turn-in. Thus depending on which zones you quested in at low levels, it will take a minimum of 500 crates to hit exalted through this method. The Lost Supplies are Unique, meaning you can only hold one at a time. Each lap from the Swamp to Nethergarde Keep takes around 5 minutes on the 60% speed mount, so you're looking at 50 hours minimum of just running around playing mailman. I would recommend planning ahead with your low-level questing to minimise the grind as much as possible.

You only receive 10% of the rep from low-level quests, so this repeatable quest is only useful between 40-45. Don't even try below 40; it will be too slow due to mob aggro and no mount. You'll have to kill some mobs, but it becomes much easier to sneak around once you hit lvl 42.

Frustratingly, the crates cannot be shared. Players questing through the zone will frequently pick them up not realising they are worthless. If they already have one in their bags, they destroy the crate and get nothing. However, with 16 spawn points in total (as shown on the map here) you always should be able to find one.

Why on Azeroth would you choose this method over Additional Runecloth turn-ins? Firstly, it's 'free', and since each stack of Runecloth awards only 50 rep, you'll be saving hundreds of gold. Secondly, you may have difficulty getting thousands of Runecloth on your server due to competition from other players buying reps this way. Thirdly, if you're an herbalist you can make some serious cash during this grind by picking Blindweed to sell on the AH.

Finally this is the ONLY way for players under level 50 to grind their SW rep for a horse mount, and may be of particular interest to twinks in the 40-49 bracket.
