His lucky pick can be dropped by any Shadowforge Dwarf in the Badlands. You can find them south of Uldaman.

Go after Shadowforge Darkweaver and Shadowforge Tunneler. An obvious place to hunt them is "Hammertoe's Digsite" (52, 33).

Don't forget to pick up "Crumpled Map" lying on the upper level of the camp (south side), which starts the quest "A Sign of Hope" (https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=720).

Watch out for the patrols though (they come in threes).

Cleared the camp 3 full times before getting the item. At least I got alot of grinding exp.

it seems that a lot of people had the same issue that I did...I killed for a while and read that I should abandon and reaccept...I did it and got it on the third kill...the area northish of the quest giver, non-elites...completed as lvl 38...good advice folks.

Just to note, I know four people, including myself, who did this quest. The pick dropped for all of us outside the pit itself, from the dark iron dwarf closest to the outhouse.

I've cleared the camp three times and still no drop. I'm level 43 so they go really fast, I can take one out in about 5 seconds if I do it right.

I get roughly 100 - 120exp per kill so it's not all that bad. Just got to keep doing it.

I could not get it to drop either. Dropped quest, got it again and picked it up on first kill after that.

got the pick on the 3rd kill from a darkweaver. 53,30 was where I got it. hope this helps.

I got pick on first kill next to toilet outhouse down hill from quest at 51,34.

I got the pick on the third kill from one of the guys up top, also picked up the crumpled map lying on the ground. You get an 1350xp for that and it gives you an Ulda quest.

Ya if u find ureself killing 20 or more of em at Hammertoe's Digsite (Best place to do it) then abandon and reaccept it. It seems to work, I killed about 35 and then abandoned and got it on my 2nd kill.

Got it from the sixth one I killed, under the canopy by the water barrel wagon on the south side of the excavation. There's three hidden in there and one can come up from the excavation to attack.

Watch out for the three dwarves who patrol around together. Got me. 35 priest solo.

I had to kill about 100 before getting the pick - Perhaps a bit unlucky. But dont expect fast drop.

ive cleared this camp 7 times and no pick. abandoned and retook the quest 3 times, i have no pick.

Did this as a lvl 36 Pally. Got the drop on my 9th kill. Lvl 36 Tunneller. In the digsite, too. 2750 exp.

Killed about 40-50 little stupid dwarves, cant find that pick :(
think i'll try for another 30min, then give up.

dont think the drop rate is very high imo..

While at the digsite, get the map on the south side tents which starts "Sign of Hope" which leads you to find Hammertoe in Uldaman.

Found him at 53, 43.

Killed three Darkreavers and four tunnelers before the drop came around.

2750 xp at 35th lvl.

I found him at 53.44. He was at the back end of the camp, right at the edge of the plain. I killed about 8 and got killed, but decided to try once more and got it.

I got lucky and got the pick on the first kill. Decent reward. I can't use it but I can certainly sell it!

I had killed less than 10 dwarves before this dropped, it was a very quick and very profitable quest. The experience was 1450 at level 39.

I cleared the ddig site 4 times... no pick.. I got the drop off a dwarf on the way into Abgor Fortress... was starting to think it was bugged!

That is a terible, terrible reward. Im sure the quest is worth doing for exp, but is anyone ever gonna actually use a 19dps mace with one type of stat at badlands level?

Take one near the camp ... even a level 35 mage can do this ...as I am! ;-)

Yep, his 'Lucky Pick' drops very quick, took me about 5-10 kills. Also, the 'map' referred to in the previous post is on the west side of the small gorge, on the ground beside a round wooden table.

2750xp at 40.

Spent 45 mins, repeatedly clearing hammertoes dig site.
Nothing.

3 kills of shadowforgekeep, and it dropped.

Each mob gives roughly 152 exp at level 39.
I've gained 20k+ exp grinding these things.

Still no axe. I suck.

i guess i am the luckest here, 1first kill is the drop.but have killed like 30 other elite dwarves b4 realising its not the right one to kill.
so Shadowforge Darkweaver and Tunneler are the ones with better chance in drops

I had to kill 15+ dwarves at lvl 36 to get the pick, all the while dodging the three-dwarf patrol group in the area and being careful to only pull one dwarf at a time. The reward hammer is okay for my level (better than the 1-H hammer I already had but not by much). Getting to the camp where Ryedol is was more of a hassle than the quest itself (I was in the Badlands to do the Finding Agmond quest (which is much farther south). Those crag coyoyes just beat out the mountain lions in Alterac to be my new most hated nuisance mob.

Woah, I ended up here searching for possible quested rewards for a 19 twink... This isnt attainable at 19 (Im assuming) but the DPS on the item is absolute crap, about the equivalent of a 32ish green, and worse than most high twenties blues. Hell, its only barely better than Outlaw Sabre, and thats available at lvl 22!

What you probably do not want to hear is that I lucked into this on my second kill, what you might want to hear is that the pick is group loot so you only have to find one.

Hey, <name>. Be careful 'round here. There be Dark Iron dwarves all around--looked like the Shadowforge clan.

They just attacked the excavation site I was workin' at--killed nearly everyone there, including my boss Hammertoe. I barely escaped with me life.

The site's just to the north of here, and I'm tryin' to plan a way to get some of our supplies back, especially me lucky pick.

Think you'd be up to helpin' me out some? One of those damned Dark Iron must have my pick! Could be anyone of them.
