When you have possession of the eye you can't stealth or mount, you'll drop it if you try to.

The reward is you get hunter-like tracking ability on the minimap.

It leads to a quest to put a beacon in the enemy base courtyard. I planted the beacon and lost my tracking, and a minute later a horde pc destroyed it. :(

Do i have to be friendly with syndicate to get the quest?

This quest is relevant again; it returned with the 15th Anniversary version of Alterac Valley (Korrak's Revenge edition only)
Alas there is little to no information online; I do not believe you have to be friendly with this faction although you still have to do the quest.
The reward is you get hunter-like tracking ability on the minimap, which will be dropped once you mount up, although teleporting inside AV is permitted.

That, however, is not why we are here now. The All Seeing Eye has been lost - taken by the Winterax trolls of the region.

Recover the Eye and our services shall be yours - for whatever time remains for your side.

Return to me once you acquire the eye so that I may examine you.
