? what the hell is this? The quest item just dropped from an ooze without having this quest.

While on this quest the droprate is 100% from the oozes that are naturally found in Un'goro. However, at low health they are able to cast a clone spell (non-interruptable). The cloned ooze does not drop the quest item. You can find the slimes randomly throughout the zone, not in any consolidated area like in Felwood.

The quest item stacks to 20. You could get lucky and only need a minimum of 5, but you won't. I collected one stack for the Felwood version of this quest and randomly engaged 2 more slimes and forgot to not auto-loot them. Do not try to delete a short stack, it will delete all of them in all stacks you have.

Having 22 in the Felwood quest, I ended up with 10 extra. It is RNG, remember that. I collected 16 for this quest and had to go back to Un'goro for more! If you are really tight on bag space collect just 1 full stack of 20 and you "should" be fine when you get back to Undercity.

I got 4 "pure un'goro samples" from 10 "un'goro slime samples". I went back with another 5 for the last one and got only touches and lifeless skulls. I would bring back a minimum of 20 (or more if you can) so that you will not be making multiple trips.

This is related to quest "... and a Batch of Ooze".

After you gather 20-30 "Un'Goro Slime Sample" from killing Oozes in Un'Goro, you travel back to "Chemist Fuely" (in Undercity).
When you speak to him, you see new quest "Testing for Impurities - Un'Goro Crater" which allows you to transform "Un'Goro Slime Sample" to "Pure Un'Goro Sample".
Essentially "Chemist Fuely" let's you use his "Testing Equipment" (green bowl on bench) to do this conversion.

Convert all of your Slimes before turning in the quest!

You can't convert them after turning in the quest. I had 30 left over that I had to destroy :(

Looted 41 (as ppl in comments said). Used only 7 (5 good, 2 bad), destroyed 34.

Not sure if this has been changed, but like Thamtam mentioned ahead of me... did not need very many slime to complete this. If fact, I got all 5 in just 5 attempts. Don't spend too much time farming these up. I think 10 is more than enough to get the pure samples.

Testing for Impurities - Un'Goro Crater

You take a sample of slime from Un'Goro Crater and place some of it into the various tubes and beakers on the table. As things begin to boil and spurt, the slime changes colors. When the process slows down and the liquids calm, you see a small petri dish with your purified Un'Goro slime samples in it along with some other remnants.
