Demon is a lvl 40 (Elite) I took him at lvl 40 however, with frost nova mana shield and evocation. Run mana shield all the time when mana gets low frost nova back up and run evocation as long as you can.

Yep, it's a 40 Elite and I solo'ed at 38. I'm not even a good frost spec, I'm actually aimed towards AoE grinding. As Itaru said, just frost nova and evocation can finish him off, timed with blink while he's slowed, in between instants like fire blast and CoC. 1 mana gem used, Didn't even use a potion, I was very pleased.

But as I was celebrating it goes "The Exorcism failed." and I was like omfg all over the place : (

Just done it again, and it is really quite easy. No mana gem this time, or ice block or cold snap or bandage or dynamite Nor do I have uber gear.

38 mages go ahead.

Not too bad. Solo as 39 Frost Spec. Only had to use one Mana Gem, but I did get somewhat lucky with Frostbite and crits. Just know that you only have 3 minutes to kill him and turn in the quest, so don't waste time dancing once he's dead. ;)

Soloed it by 37 lvl frost mage. Main problem was time - quest was failed twice before i did it. Raptor, near house also makes this quest is not too easy.
You have 3 minutes to kill demon and to return quest. When demon is summoned, you have about 2:40 minutes to kill him. No loot.
Quest leads to next chain in Uldaman.

as a 40 fire spec mage i took him on my first try.make sure you have health pots with you it will help out alot. Frost trap was my best friend in this fight for sure along with bandages. i would say make sure that you kill the raptor in the back of the house first like i did so you have no other targets around.
when i was done fighting i have about 45 seconds to turn in quest.

managed to solo it at 36 with fire spec. it took a few tries (about 6), but I eventually defeated him rather soundly. for me, this was the key:

frost nova + blazing speed + blink = enough time for full evocation and partial bandage, thus saving hp potion for when you're trying to get out of melee range next time.

killed him with 11 seconds left on the timer. DON'T waste time once he's dead, b/c you can still fail if you don't turn in before timer is up. also, make sure you clear the trash mobs before you start the fight so you have room to run before hitting evocation. gl

I did it at level 37 solo. Just bring some bandages and get by the dock when he spwns so you can get 2 fireballs off before he hits ya. Then just kite him until you get low health and then bandage. After he gets around 1,000 health left you will be low on mana and possibly health so just kite him around the little house to finish him.

There are various critters running around that can interfere with your fight..be sure to clear the area before starting.

As everyone else has said, easy to solo even if you're a couple of levels below him.

I had a greater healing pot (the level 30 kind). Accidentally aggroed right when he was summoned, two fireballs, fireblast, frost nova, blinked away, 2 more, health pot... at that point i was out of mana... I just kited him around until my fireblast was up and he went down then. Not that difficult.

I also did not have a mana jade on me... if I did, the fight would have been a joke.

At level 42, fire mage, I used one greater healing potion, and didn't haev very much mana left, but I didn't have to use mana stone though.

37 mage, fire-specced, decently-equipped

Had to use evocation, and my mana agate, and still was out of mana for the end, so I pulled out the staff and started meleeing... he killed me, but was still burning from a crit I got, so he died right after me, with 2 seconds left too!

Got back and talked to her... got my wand =D looked in my quest log... quest failed >.> Guess I gotta redo it to finish the chain... *sigh*

He did resist a lot of my spells though, maybe fire-resistant?

I tried with my Arcane mage at level 38.. Failed of course.

1. Level 40 Elite spawns.
2. I shoot frostbolt to slow it down.
3. Game locks up. DAMNED! What the hell?
4. Game revives when the Elite stands right in front of me.
5. Frost Nova.
6. Run and Bandage Self.
7. Tried all sorts of shi* on him
8. Required to use a potion.
9. Got him to about 10% and HE removed all of my remaining 10%HP with one hit.

Didn't matter anyway.. there where only 10 seconds left.

It seems the only magic that wasn't resisted was Ice Bolt and Frost Nova. But things like Fire Bolt and Arcane Missile showed me to much Resist.

Damned.. And I helped a 37 mage a sec. before I started mine.. He left in such a hurry X( He will probably say he solo-d it like many others say (Many people solo stuff with the help of a 60er nowadays)

Also.. is there a faster way to the cabin from the gravejard without having to walk all the way back there.. The Dying isn't the problem.. It's the 20 minute to the corpse.

I did this first time as lvl 37 frost mage, with one big healing potion. Just keep your distance from the big creep, he hits real hard. He spawns in the garden - stand by the dock, and frostbolt till he's close, then frost nova and scarper. Feel free to pop him with your nukes and use up your mana - because when your frost nova cools down, hit it again and do an Evocation to restore mana. Chug the heal potion, and go toe-to-toe with your nukes and arcane explosion to get him down quickly at the end to beat the timer clock. Don't use mana shield - you need the mana to nuke him. And use the house as an obstacle - keep running around it while he's slowed (don't get tangled up in the haystacks round the back). Finally, whiz round the house once before accepting the quest, and *do* clear any wandering mobs from the immediate area. He's enough of a handful without some danged spider biting your arse... Have fun.

Very easy. 40 Fire Mage. stand by dock. Used Combustion, then pyroblast, then couple fireballs, blast wave, mana shielded, fire blasted then just fireballed him down. Woot! good luck!

i tried three times, twice at 38 once as 39 (speced as fire)

i died first 2 times without getiing him to half health but third killed him with 1 min + 30 secs left and over half mana and health left (for me).

i don't know what made the difference, especially as on the third time half his hits were criticals but here are my tactics:

1: w8 at docks
2:pyro (doing minimum damage of course!)
3:firball, fireblast, frost nova, back up, fireball, mana shield (broken in two hits thank u very much criticals), health potion and then evocation (gaining very little mana of course thanks to shield being broken in 3 secs)
4: frost nova
5: go to field outside hut using blink (take mana jade)
6: fireball and fireb,last to death

Im a lvl 35 Gnome Mage and i got rocked. I got him down to about 80% life before i gave up. He resists about half my spells, and I just can't get him down very much before i run outa mana. Im going to get a friend for this one.

Incredibly easy. I'm fire spec, and all I did was cast pyro from the pier to start the fight, then fireball, scorch, blast, frost, fireball, etc...

Didn't even hit me for 300hp. 1:48 left.

This quest is a joke, lol.

Tip: Kill any wandering raptors before fighting this guy. I had him no problem and then I aggroed a near by raptor. I failed the quest. If this happens be sure to abandon the quest and Tabetha will offer it again.

i solo'd this as a 60 rogue. Very easy. Didnt even use mana shield (didnt have that anyway), nor a pot, nor even a jade. however i had no energy at the end of the fight and what I did was:
- I stabbed him with left.
- I stabbed him with right.
- I stabbed him with left again.
- I stabbed him with right again.
- Then this mosquito came so I missed with left, almost cut off my right thumb.
- I stabbed him with right very hard.

Who needs kiting anyway.

I was able to do this quest fairly easy here's my checklist:

1 Get a melee class partner (37-40)
2 Buff-Demon Armor summon Healthstones x2 (1st give to ally)
3 Summon Voidwalker
4 Hand in orb and follow to side of house
5 Target demon send pet to attack
6 Apply Corruption Immolate
7 Curse of Weakness to lower dmg taken
8 Drain Life
9 Use wand x 5 Shadowbolt x2
10 Curse of Agony and drain soul till dead

I can't believe people were having trouble with this quest.. I did it at 40, and I wasn't expecting a fight at all, let alone a level 40 Elite. I managed to beat him with about 100 hp and 200 mp left. No close calls, until the end. It came down to a crit he got on me, and whether I could stay away the last 2 seconds for fire blast to get ready again. But yeah, just Arcane missles and fire blast him, Nova when you need to bandage and/or evoc, then back at him again. Whenever CC procs, do Arcane missles, as it's the most expensive of these spells. And always worth it, unless you don't have maxed imp. missles.

i am mostly fire oriented with a bit of arcane talents, and did it alone at lvl 39. my fire talents give me high chance of crits with stun and various DOT effects, and when combined with frost spells the deamon had much less chance of touching me.

i prepared myself with a scroll of intelect 2, and started the fight with Pyroblast from a distance, and Arcane missiles and Fire Blast were the mains. during the fight i had to use a mana jade and a superior health potion, and still ended up running away from the deamon several times waiting to regain enough mana for my scorch spell, which ended the fight.

started this quest from lvl 38 and it was always a close call, just a tiny bit short. as soon as i got lvl 39, i did it.

I've just beaten this guy (solo) as a fire Mage 38. It's not easy... I only did it on the 3rd go, but it is possible.

Before the fight, I buffed with arcane intellect and mage armour. I also created a Mana Jade. I then activated the quest. While Tabitha was walking outside, I cast Mana Shield on myself. I stood well back from where he spawns and cast Pyroblast on him from maximum range, then alternated fireballs and fireblasts until he wore down my Mana Shield. When Mana Shield is gone, I used Frost Nova to hold him, then backed up and hit him with another fireball/flameblast combo. Once Frost Nova wears off him, you've got to kite him in circles around Tabitha's hut. Use blink to get a bit of a head start. Use the Mana Jade while kiting him, as your mana will be at about 1/3rd at this point. Whenever Fireblast is ready, turn around quickly and hit him with it. If you build up enough of a lead, he won't be able to hit you. When Frost Nova is ready, use it again and do another Fireball/Fireblast combo. Just keep repeating this and he should go down. I beat him with 50 health and 30 mana left, and about 25 seconds on the clock.

He was pretty easy, but I still felt proud when I solo'd him with my 37 mage. I have about 35 +damage and 11 more +frost damage, so that helped me out some.

Just keep kitting him and watch your blink/nova cooldowns, I had to evo towards the end, but if you keep a good pace with your nova/blinking you can beat him very easily.

I just soloed this guy with my 38 Fire-specced mage with about +122 Fire damage. Opened with pyroblast and it crit for 855, so the rest of the fight went by pretty fast. Didn't use a potion or a jade, but I was oom at the end of the fight. It was easier than I thought :)

Edit: +128 Fire dmg. Alot of drinking, but fast kills :)

Demon spawn is outside beside the house in the farm bed. It is level 40 and is pretty easy to kill. The hard part of this quest is getting to Tabetha.

This is a timed quest (2.5 - 3 minutes) so before you turn in the orb make sure you are medded and healed to full and have all your buffs up.

I did it alone at level 40. Not so easy, but it can be done. I'm an arcane/frost mage. I kept him at a distance as much as possible with Frost Nova+Blink and chills. When running out of HP and mana, I used Frost Nova once more, casted Evocation and used a Superior healing potion. He was then roughly at 45% of HP, and I was nearly full HP and full mana. I finished him off with Frostball, Arcane missiles, and then all my instant cast spells: Cone of Cold, Fire Blast, and Arcane Explosion (also instant cast).

read that some people thought it was hard. so i was ready. 2 me it was 1 of the easier quests 2 b honest. I was a lvl 40 stright frost Mage. Only used frostbolt, frost nova and fire blast. He only hit me once, w/ mana shield on, and when he died i had full hp and about 800 mana left, w/o using any pots or jades. Couple of crits around 600 helped, but overall pretty easy.

Solo'd him as a 38 Frost spec. Used all my mana and a healing pot. Those who are trying to tell you he's easy, well they're lying. He's not EASY, he takes a lot of hits and there is no mage at our level that can take out a 40 Elite 'Easy'. But my experience is that we can take lone Elite's of our level with a lot of running around nova the hell out of him and cast everything in your arsenal.

My Mage, Level 43 Arcane Spec, just waxed him in less than a minute. Only took one jade, and one great mana potion. I used mana shield one time, at the very end, just to be sure it would work. I used a little bit of all my attacks and took him down fairly easy.

Not sure if theyve updated this quest or not but the mob you have to kill is actually lvl 40 Elite. I'm level 40 and failed to kill having pumped all my mana into it and then some more using potions.

I only got this quest at 45, shows i dont travel a lot around places. This guy was easy, he got my health about 1/4 down. Just used combustion and hit crit on him, then fireball / fireblast him.

When I got the quest, some horde were outside doing a quest where she summoned a large number of level 40 Mana Surges, that do melee and ranged damage. They seem to come in waves of four. When the surges killed the horde, they came after me. As I was already engaged with the level 40 demon, I was toast. Hopefully, this quest will be reset when I log back in. Do I have to get another orb?

Not all that hard. I'm an arcane/fire build and what I did was:
- Put up mana shield.
- Pyroblast him from max distance.
- Fireball x2.
- Fire blast (forge the name, the instant)
- Frost Nova, backup and fireball again.
- Fire blast (forge the name, the instant)
- Mana shield.
- Arcane Missles.
- Use gem to restore mana.
- More arcane missles.
- Mana shield, repeat with missles until dead or nova coolsdown and you can backup and fireball.

I waited until 44 to do this guy... I have a gnome mage, stats 1658 hps, 4954 mana, 1188 AC (With Elixir of Greater Defense), 100 % arcane build.

He went down like a sack of spuds, he took about 500hps off me in total once mana shield had been used. Still had like 2k mana left.

Hit him with a Fireball first, had a crit for 506, then alternated between fireblast and arcane missiles until he bit the dust. He was hitting me for about 88.

Dead easy fight at 44, about 40 seconds total.

Got 2350 XP for the quest.

Prodigious use of mana shield meant I took very little damage during the fight. Just go toe-to-toe with him and nuke away, refreshing mana shield as necessary, until you run just about out of mana. Then frost nova, step back, and use Evocation.

Alternatively, you can get by with a mana jade instead of Evoc if you're willing not to refresh mana shield as often, but with Evoc, it was very, very easy.

Remember that Tabetha will summon the demon in the garden, but you don't have to be standing there to let him aggro - you can stay back and pull him at your leisure with your favorite opening spell. Also, if you realize you're not ready, you can let the timer expire (and/or run until the demon un-aggros if you've already aggroed him), abandon the quest, and reaccept it from Tabetha when you're ready.

Bhag'thera, the 40 Elite panther in STV, was harder, though not by much.

solo'd at 37 as an arcane mage... steps above sound familar to what i did, though i'm an engineer as well so i dropped a target dummy at the start to keep initial aggro from me. it only lasted about 4 hits but better on it than me. used evocation, mana agate, mana shield, greater healing pot and lots of running around (as well as 'well fed' buff) not too bad. but it's done.

wtf, i read most of these posts before starting fight and was expecting the worst. truth is i didn't break a sweat. lvl 38 frost 3800mana 1600hp.

start at the dock and frostboltx3/fireblast/CoC/FN/Blink to garden/repeat use jade/Evo as needed. he is only melee...you know what we do to melee.

his highest hit was 206 crit, normal = 100. he probably has about 6000HP. enjoy

Soloed as a level 35 frost mage after 1.5 hours of attempts- would not recommend unless you are really looking for a challenge (which I was, otherwise I would've just got someone to help which would have been way easier). He will resist a lot of your roots/slows which makes kiting tricky, and if you get bad RNG and he resists too many in a row you will just die.

My stats:
Level 35
2418 mana
850 health
+97 spell damage gear (icicle rod, icefury wand, azure silk gear, two pieces of frozen wrath and spellpower goggles xtreme)
AoE specced (which is definitely NOT optimal, I was 0/5 improved frostbolt which would have helped get a lot more casts in)
Gnomish Engineer
Food: Smoked Sagefish (3 mana every 5s)

Fight duration: 2 min 14s
Damage taken: 1125

From my logs, it appears that the demon has 4572 health. (4612 dmg done including 40 overkill)

Spell breakdown:
Frostbolt (Rank 6) 3829 dmg - 12 hits (avg 284), 1 crit (417), 3 resist (18.8% miss)
Cone of Cold (Rank 1) 681 dmg - 4 hits (avg 170), 2 resist (33.3% miss)
Frost Nova (Rank 1) 102 dmg - 4 hit (avg 26), 1 resist (20% miss)

Cooldowns/Items:
1x Target Dummy
1x Mageweave Bandage
1x Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector
1x Evocation

I didn't end up needing my health pot or mana gem.

General Tips

Running back (as alliance)
You can run back from the Theramore graveyard to Tabetha's hut across the water. There is a place at 55.88, 50.26 where you can scale the hills and go down the other side.

Where to fight him
Tabetha has a garden on the left side of her house. This is a bad place to fight because you will get stuck on walls etc. There are also some mobs that patrol near the edge of the garden and you might end up pulling them accidentally (even if you clear them, they might respawn at a bad time).

Instead, fight him on the other side of her house. There is a lot of open empty space there, and I didn't need to clear any mobs either.
In a pinch you can run around the house, but make sure to stay close to it to avoid pulling the mobs at the edge of Tabetha's garden.
Running around the house can help to slow him if you are trying to buy some time to bandage/evocate because he can get a bit stuck on the walls and path slowly, but in general try to stick in the open so you still have line of sight to dps when you are kiting him.

Extra notes about the process (from a level 35 perspective)

Use Rank 1 Frost Nova and Cone of Cold to save mana
Frost nova hardly does any damage and the root effect is the same.
On some attempts, rank 2 cone did nearly 50% of my damage, but on others it was more like 30%. However, I kept hitting 10% and running out of mana, so decided to try switching it out for rank 1. On my kill with rank 1 cone, I didn't even need my mana gem.

Use Ice Armor
Because you can't guarantee that your slows/roots will be effective because of resists at level 35, this is your backup plan for slowing him in case he starts landing melee hits on you. (I would've liked to try Mage Armor instead for the mana regen, but I needed the backup kiting plan more.)

A Target Dummy can buy you time to bandage/evocate if he resists your roots/slows (85 engineering required)
You can drop this next to the demon and blink/run away. This is very useful at level 35 because unlike frost nova, he can't resist it so you are guaranteed a break.
The target dummy's CD is 2 min, so consider dropping one early so you can re-use it later in the fight.
Note that this shares a CD with your mana gem, so another reason to drop it early is so you can use your mana gem later on if needed.

Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector can be used as an extra root (210 engineering required)
The demon can resist this, but if you manage to get it off successfully (I did on my kill) it will buy you an extra 10s of root. The nice thing about this is that you can do it from range.

Notes on other engineer-only items

Bombs are definitely recommended
He won't resist the damage from bombs. I used them on my initial attempts, but then I ran out and didn't want to hearth to make more, so I didn't use them on my kill.

Gnomish Death Ray
This also can't be resisted. My original plan was to get him low (around 10% or so), frost nova, blink and then health pot + gnomish death ray to finish him off. That turned out not to be necessary in the end because I had enough mana, but could be a handy backup plan.

Gnomish Shrink Ray
This was a bit of a disappointment. He can resist this (and did so a lot, probably because of my level). I was hoping it would make him do little to no damage to me, but the one time I got it off successfully, his melee hits still felt significant enough that I wasn't happy sitting there taking them.

Now that we have a summoner's orb, we must exorcise the demon within it. I can do that. That's the easy part.

You're the one who has the hard job. You're the one who has to kill the demon once it's out.

And you'll have to be quick. If you take too long then he'll jump back in the orb and we'll have to start over!

So get yourself ready. Prepare your strongest spells and keep your potions handy, and go get a friend if you have one. Because this isn't going to be pretty.
