Classic WoW Talent Calculator and Database Now Live on Wowhead
02/11/2018 alle 10:08
With the Classic WoW demo coming to BlizzCon 2018, the Wowhead team has launched
, providing you with tools, database info, and guides. We've been working around the clock to get the site live in time for BlizzCon and hope you enjoy it!
With the Classic demo data available for only a week, there's much more to be done on the site. We wanted to get a working version of the core elements, including the vanilla WoW Talent Calculator, live before BlizzCon. Further updates will continue, such as NPC and Quest data, after the demo has concluded.
By far the most-requested feature! Wowhead started off as a humble talent calculator and now we're back with how it all started.
Fill in your talent points across the three trees, and share your build by simply linking the URL.

Dressing Room and Models
You can't change your character's appearance or race in Classic WoW, so going with the perfect look is important on the first try. With the
Classic Dressing Room
, preview characters using their original models in any available armor and weapons.

Through the years, Blizzard has updated many low-resolution models such as the Prairie Dog--but they are back in their blocky glory on our Classic site. Simply open up View 3D on any NPC page to see the original models.
Item and Spell Database
Our database sections for
are now live! You can browse these databases to learn more about items, such as the stats and proc on
, as well as spells, such as all related ranks for
and when you can unlock and train them.
In the future we will add more support for item filters and categories.

We've ported over all old Wowhead comments and screenshots--and have started the process of importing all the comments from Thottbot! We'll make a formal announcement when the comment migration is complete, but over the next few days, expect to see more old comments pop up like familiar friends. You can check out the Thottbot comment integration on pages like
Stoneskin Gargoyle Cape
For the launch of our Classic Guide section, we've published a series of guides aimed at players interested in checking out the demo, such as racial abilities and class/faction combinations. We've also created a series of overviews on important topics like talents, professions, and reputations so you can read up on how different things were in Classic WoW.
Many of these guide are linked in the navigation menu, which is visible on every page, and you can access a full list
. A few more may be live even before BlizzCon!
As the official launch of Classic WoW draws closer, we will expand the guide section to cover a wider variety of topics, including popular talent builds and boss strategies.

We're excited to learn more about Classic WoW at BlizzCon, which will shape the direction we take the development of the site. We'd like to prioritize updating NPCs and Quests (which requires access to the Classic Demo + Wowhead addon), developing a raid composition tool, finishing the Thottbot comment integration, importing some guides from Allakhazam as well as writing new ones, and working on the Thottbot-colored reskin of the site.
Edit: based on feedback on here, Reddit, and elsewhere, we've made the following updates to the site. These should already be live, or live very soon after the next deploy:
Talent calc now shows how many points are spent and what the required level is
Some general polish to the calc including the arrows connecting talents lighting up, text showing next ranks etc
Classic Wowhead homepage news section only shows classic news, not all of the news
Mobile improvements to the talent calc
Selecting the Classic toggle by search now swaps domains
Menus show fewer categories added in later expansions--no more Battle pets or Azerite, for example
We're aware there are some issues with DPS on weapons, and as we state above, we'll need a working non-blocked version of the Wowhead client running on the playable Classic servers to update our NPC and Quest information, including locations and descriptions. We're not sure if the demo will allow the Client to run, but we'll keep you posted on the DPS issue with weapons.
