Keep in mind he isn't alone, there is a lvl 21 goblin who summons a little robot.

Along the east side of teh lake is a path that head up around the lake, and raises in alititute and gets U to teh platform where he is

If you stand at the edge of the lake so that the wheel is directly ahead of you, turn to your right and you will see across the lake where the mountain is in a U shape. The middle of the U is the path. then you get in the water and swim to it. hope this helps

I foudn the passage way which leads me around the mountains til i come across the water wheel, I have fought my way through til i get to the end to the venture armor merchant but along my way the dude wasnt there...should he be or am i in the wrong place?

Once you kill the guy by the wheel, you have to go BEHIND the wheel and then up another level or two to find Gerenzo.

TIP: If you have a decent level of fishing and some time, the oil barrel floating in the water @ 62, 45 or close to those coordinates will yeild a lot of firefin snappers. You need to put your lure right in the oil spill but if you do, it is a sure thing! I got well over 20 firefin snappers out of it as well as blasting powder, stranglekelp ect..

where is it this quest i can't find the place, i head north east but can't see him or the pool at all

The path up begins about <68.7, 41.2> on the East side of the lake. Follow the path North and West up the mountain. From there you'll follow the wooden structures.
