As a fire mage in Molten Core, this drop off Moam from AQ20 was very well worth it. My DPS in MC went up significantly, I think the trinket's just on a 3 minute cooldown, and the damage is a nice bonus. Well worth it; I still use it over MQG on certain fights.

This trinket used to be better before they nerfed it so that it didn't stack with ZHC/ToEP (It stacked for a while after all the trinket nerf). Now this is only useful for fire mages in MC and PvP. For raiders that run BWL~Naxx, there are other options that are much better than this.

Well...since in the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj (20 people instance) there is a boss called Moam, and this trinket is actually his/her/its eye, I would assume it's a drop from him/her/it. ;)

Hello all,

This recently dropped off Moam in AQ20 (3rd boss, Destroyer type mob) on 2/13/06. I won it, and I feel it is a very nice addition to my arsenal as a 60 Mage. Since I don't have the ToEP or ZHC trinkets, I view this as a mini-"gg"trinket; but it also lasts 30 seconds and gives -100 to ALL resistances to the target your spells hit, as well as 50 damage to spells buff for yourself. The re-use on it is three minutes.

I could tell it was working when I did an AB, and started casting a Frostbolt on a Soul Linked Warlock with the Felhunter out. This naturally gives him +60 to all Resists, and then whatever he had from items and buffs. I casted two Frostbolts without the trinket activated, and both got completely resisted. When I activated the trinket, I landed four Frostbolts on him consecutively, so it does appear the debuff works properly.

What I am not sure is if the -100 to all Resists helps everyone that is casting on that target, I have yet to figure it out. The name of the buff it gives you when you activate it is called "Obsidian Insight."

It dropped, and there were 3-4 locks, we rolled on it (We were rolling on most of the stuff, despite that it was a guild run, FFA, but highest /roll won it. A good deal of people rolled on it, 2 of the warlocks (myself included) using the Eye of the Beast + DM Trinket...and the Warlock who won it? had ToEP + ZHC...yes, I know they won't stack, but you can still chain use them...>_<

I got this last night off of Moam, and first assumed that it has a 30 min cooldown (I mean, something like this can't be too forgiving) but then I come here and see it's only 3 min! So I'm pretty happy about it. I'm just wondering if anyone thinks this would be useful fighting Vael? I don't think he has much magic resistances in the first place, but if he does, knocking them down to 0 would be useful, and increasing my damage by up to 50 would definitely make the fight go faster. Any input?

maybe i am not digging in the right places, but i am trying to find out if the trinket actually causes the first spell cast to be affected, or is this first spell cast the 'primer' for your next spell?

for example, i usually pop this when fighting a priest or a warlock or a dragon i know has high resistances. i almost ALWAYS find that the first spell is still resisted when i have the 'obsidian insight' buff. only the subsequent spells are not resisted.

my question is, when you pop this, do you have to cast a spell from a school (say a curse), to affect it's shadow damage, or does it automatically proc on the first spell cast...?

maybe i just have bad luck and the first spell is usually resisted anyways, and the trinket doesn't help.

i would love to know the mechanics behind the initial spell cast, and the following spell casts with and without this trinket.

i don't pick up passive spell penetration gear, because it seems like the -100 that this allegedy gives you can compensate just fine... anyone have any ideas?

Got this yesterday with my guild. It was a neat run since we did 5 bosses in a very limited time. My 85 roll really pissed the others since i had looted talon of furious concentration last time ^^

Anyways , this trinket is really good , especially if you take into consideration that it drops from an easily accomplishable boss. -100resist might not be imba but its still really good pvp wise , it makes sure that AP/PoM/Pyro reaches its target and as far as PvE is concerned the 50damage over 30secs is really good.

Must have until you get ToEP/ZHC.

I'm a mage and I consistently use my ToEP (+175 dmg/heal - 15ec - 1.5min CD) then as soon as that buff is gone I pop EoM (+50dmg/heal - 30sec- 3min CD). The ability to have 45 seconds of bonus dmg completely owns. I hardly ever use my Eye of the Beast trinket anymore, especially since I have the Winter's Chill talent.

We /rand for gear in AQ20, and I'm glad I won this cool trinket. It'll probably remain in use with my ToEP (along with the Mind Quickening Gem) until I'm next in line for Neltharion's Tear.

Extremely good for a Blue, but there are a lot of easier trinkets to get such as the WSG one which reduces resistances by 20 but works constantly.

The eye of moam is a good backup tool for ANY mage. I don't regard it as a primary trinket.
Having this and a ToEP or a ZHC is in my opinion a good thing, if not necessary. Here is why.

The ToEP is a fine toy.
Cool down is 1.5 minutes. Timer is 15 seconds.
That means 175 for 30 seconds every three minutes.

Eye of moam = 50 damage for 30 seconds every three minutes AND your targets spell resistance is lowered by 100 during that time.
Ever have your spell resistances lowered to nothing while doing vael? It matters.

The other nice thing about the Eye of Moam is that if you have the Mind Quickening Gem, the timer on that is 20 seconds every 5 minutes.
That means the bonus damage from the trinket benefits LONGER.
If you are frost specced that means.
Frost bolt = 1.8 second cast with MQG.
5 seconds = 3 extra Frost bolts over a ToEP (mqg works through spells you start to cast even after its timer goes away)
With the ToEP you get 15 seconds of frost bolts at 1.8 seconds (roughly 8 or 9)
So eye of Moam and MQG = 12 frostbolts x 50 = 600 damage. (for simplicity sake, screw the 87% mitigation)
For the ToEP you get 9 frostbolts x 175 = 1575.

Obviously the ToEP still smokes the Eye of moam.
But, if you are fire specced in molten core, or come across things resistant to you, your best bet is to bust out your Eye of Moam.
It is most definately NO replacement for a ToEP, or a ZHC, but is indeed a fine backup tool for mobs resistant to your highest damage spells.

Guild-mates report that so far this trinket still will stack with a ToEP or ZHC in 1.10.

I know my AP/PoM'd Pyro would love the extra 50dmg and the lessened chance of being resisted!

This trinket is great for when you have to CC something in the higher instances.
For instance if you want to banish a 63 elite in MC.
For the rest I'd probably wouldnt use it to much because I'm to lazy to click it all the time ;)

The duration of the trinket makes it bis for short fights with resistant targets. Perfect in PvP and PvE.

Also, to all poor Elemental shamans out there solo farming Dire Maul East, this cuts the last boss fight in half as it annihilates the resistance of the boss.
