After you pick up one of the Bindings of the Windseeker and bring it to Highlord Demitrian in Silithus, he will allow you to start a quest to find the rest of the materials needed to summon Thunderaan. This item is obtained from Ragnaros as what appears to be a 100% drop rate if you are on the quest. There have supposedly been cases reported where it has not dropped the first time though.

this is a 100% drop from Ragnaros IF you have started the quest from the bindings of the windseeker dropped from Garr or Baron Geddon.

In order to complete this quest you have to:
1 - Get both halves of the Bindings of the Windseeker. They are a very rare drop from Garr or Baron Geddon: the 4th and 5th bosses in the Molten Core. Using the bindings starts the quest
2 - Once you have the quest you must kill Ragnaros (the final boss in MC) for the Essence of the Firelord
3 - The final requirement is 10 elementium bars. Elementuim is found and smelted in Blackwing Lair. The NPC that allows you to smelt Elementium is after the 4th boss.

I can confirm this item drops 100% when you have the quest. Ragnaros only drops one at a time, tho. A guildie and me both had the quest, and even though I wasn't Masterlooter I could loot Ragnaros and take the item. So I took it, assuming that my guildie could take it too, since it's a quest item. Too bad for him, there was only one. Oh well, guess he'll have to wait another week... ;)

its 100% drop if you have 1 binding and you started quest in silithus. you dont need 2 bindings for it.

If 2 people have the quest, will 2 bindings drop?

Having a discussion in guild whether it should cost dkp or not, and info on this would really help out :)

i think its a 99.9999999% drop with quest. I killed didnt drop /gasp. im unluky. then 2nd kil it did! and of course i got cause im leet! 1337z0r h4x0r m4570r!

Get both Bindings of the Windseeker and Rag'll drop this on your next kill, assuming you've started the quest.

I had the left bindings and quest but it didn't drop for me last night at rag, so its not 100% drop rate.

I’ve got the items in my bag (BOTH BINDINGS, vessel, and elementium) need essence. It’s not dropping. 7 weeks now. Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of....does it HAVE to be in raid? I am soloing it at 120, would the raid format have anything to do with it?

HOW TO OBTAIN Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker

Receive both Bindings of the Windseeker (drop rate: 4,08%) from Garr and Bindings of the Windseeker (drop rate: 4,28%) from Baron Geddon in Molten Core.
Visit Highlord Demitrian in Silithus. He will give you Vessel of Rebirth to start the quest Examine the Vessel which leads to Thunderaan the Windseeker.
Kill Ragnaros for Essence of the Firelord (100% drop rate when you have the quest in your log).
Aquire 10x Elementium Bar.
Bring your guild and head back to Highlord Demitrian. Turn in the quest and he will summon Prince Thunderaan which will drop Dormant Wind Kissed Blade.
Complete Rise, Thunderfury! and you're done!
