Good and easy item from engineering to make. Cost average about 2g to make ( if you buy the mats from AH ) And you can sell this on for about 4g - 6g.

lots of people want me to do leatherworking to do this, they say its some T3 stuff, may i know whats it for?

The timer to create the refined deeprock salt is on each toon, not each salt shaker. Cooldown timer is 3 days to reuse. Think of it as being similar to the 4 day timer for a tailor to create 1 mooncloth from 2 felcloth.

These things sell like hotcakes as leatherworkers begin to reach high lvls.

I started making these on proudmoore horde side, probably made 200g off of them easily.

one of the first posts on this page asked the question "if you made 5 salt shakers, could you use all 5 and make 5 refined deeprock salts?". well obviously no you can't but that does bring up another possibility...

the cooldown itself is assigned to the toon, not the saltshaker, as one post pointed out near after comparing the salt shaker to a tailor's mooncloth purification skill.

so this means that you CAN have multiple characters use the same salt shaker... since the salt shaker in fact does not bind on equip or on pickup...

Saltshaker does not Bind at all...

- use the salt shaker, hand it to another leather worker -

"puff puff give!"

The timer on the Salt Shaker is, in fact, tied to the character and not the item.

I "recruited" 3 people to make salt for me and paid them 1g each. I then sold the salt for 5g each making a profit of 12g in a matter of 15 minutes.

The problem lies in finding LW's with a 250+ skill who do not already have a salt shaker. I recommend standing in IF or SW (alliance, of course) on a busy day and spamming the hell out of "Need Leatherworker (250+)! Will pay generously!"

Thank u for the input... especially on total mats needed :)

Deeprock salt is easy to find btw, if you are horde just kill some elementals near kargath (while waiting your group for BRM instances, for example)

The total Raw material you need to make this:

- 6x Thorium Bar
- 7x Mithril Bar
- 8x Solid Stone
- 1x Gold Bar (a third exactly)
- 4x Mageweave Cloth

The cooldown for this is shared, so if you have two salt shakers you will have to wait 3 days in between using either of them.

I made the mistake of buying two, only to have to reauction one of them.

Say you had 2 characters 1 is an engineer and he made 2 salt shakers and the other character is a leatherworker. If the engineer sent the leatherworker a salt shaker and let him make salt then have the leatherworker send the shaker back then the engineer sends the other salt shaker and they do this over and over again. Would the cool down still be on the newly recived one? Or would you have to go out and find a lot of willing lether workers?

I made my first one and sold it within a hour for 12G so I made 2 more and I have been trying to sell them for a week for 9G which is just about break even point with no luck.

I understand that as a medium high leatherworker (skill level 247) I will need to get a salt shaker soon...

I reluctantly confess my utter ignorance and ask, "Where? How?"

i dont know about anyone else but the price to get one of these things just doubled or tripled on my server due to high thorium prices. seems that all the higher lvl miners stopped putting up thorium on the azeroth ah's and prices skyrocketed which makes getting one of these things very expensive. i think i spent 15g to have one made, it pay off in the end instead of having to buy individual refined deeprock salts off the AH but still...

The Salt Shaker uses one Deeprock Salt to make one Refined Deeprock Salt every three days.
