Warlocks this item is actually useful now! instead of being held in the offhand the spellstone now goes into your wand slot. extremely helpful for pvp.

The +1% chance to crit is great to use in pvp, especially if you have ruin. Plus if you have a not-so-good wand, this could replace it. Also this is good for those who don't pvp with their felhunter out, since it can remove magic effects off you.

They are now equipped in wand slot.

With syphon life/life tap/life drain I will not be wanding, not even in long boss fights, so I use it all the time.

I thought Spellstone was a joke, until I watched a Fury Warrior PvP video where he switched offhands on the fly.

If you can switch offhands with no cooldown, can you see why having an instant debuff removal is rigged?

You get Sapped, and the Rogue is taking someone else out. Switch your offhand WHILE you are sapped(no I'm not on crack) and remove the effect.

This has the same obvious effects against other Warlock's Fear, Frost Nova, and Counterspell.

The spell shield seems to be the LEAST important part of the spell, but it's an added bonus. Improved Spellstone should, I agree, not be a 31-point talent. But it should be high.

An instant spell shield alone is decent, and a debuff removal is insane. Combine them together, and you have some great srategies.

Don't EVER underestimate this ability... When Blizzard went to fix our talent trees, they didn't screw with this because they weren't sure how to balance it correctly.

Not all is as it seems.

So basically, create a macro to equip+use this when you would otherwise not have it. Losing Demon Armor is seriously not a big deal.

I made this argument for Firestone, but everyone sees that Firestone doesn't completely suck anyways.

Think Warlocks should start throwing those staffs away, or am I completely off about this?

I'm about to make a post on the Ancient Cornerstone Grimoire with the same argument, so please tell me how wrong I am about offhands before I make a complete fool out of myself. ><

it removes ALL buffs you have, INCLUDING your own armor buff, imp buff, and so on.
just forget it. i dont wanna know how stoned the creators of this skill must have been. its just completely useless crap.

magic is anything other than physical damage. Whether it be Shadow/fire/ice/arcane. Kind of a crappy item when you first get it, but once you fill out yoru Desructive talent tree, you'll think otherwise. 900 dmg, is not much, but seeing as how we have shadow ward also, if we are fighting another Lock, or Shadow Priest, we can absorb 1400 some dmg. And if we have the Void walker out, we can absorb 3200+ dmg if you tiem your uses. If you have a SS on you, its like having 3 lives.

removing all buffs isn't always as bad as it sounds. if you're solo, you're basically just losing demon armor, but if you need to absorb magic damage you probably don't need the armor. if you're in a group and you need to absorb magical damage then you can probably afford to lose buffs with almost no penalty. if you're below your base max health, fort isn't helping you and you could afford to lose it.

spellstones aren't always useless. in some cases a spellstone would be the difference between living and dying. if your choices are using a spellstone or death, you're losing your buffs no matter what. the difference is do you die or live.

Could be worth setting up Itemrack (addon) to have a hellfire gearset, then wacking it on before hellfire, activating it and saving your priest 900 damage to heal while you spam 3k worth of damage. I think you can even set itemrack to auto re-equip your normal gear after combat.

Major Spellstone + Major Healthstone + Priest Bubble + a couple heals might actually make hellfire viable for a 'lock to use...
