Used in Living Strathlome when fighting Cannon Master.

Simply pick up one and load it in the cannons when there is mobs spawned in the back and fire, it will instant kill them.

Yep, make sure you designate one person as the cannon shooter. That person needs to have an inventory slot available to pick up the cannonball. I find that it is best if the shooter waits for two scarlets to be at the end of the hall to shoot, as if you shoot every time one spawns, you will most likely run out of cannonballs before the end of the fight, depending on the group. This will be an instant kill, so you can still dps while you're waiting for the second scarlet to spawn before you shoot. Usually, though, it's best to have a hybrid do the shooting, someone with neither high dps or strong healing/tanking ability. Anyway, you can only hold one of these at a time, so make sure you pick up a new one every time you shoot the cannon!

so, is this some sort of ammo or there are absolutely no use for this item?

It's for the cannons next to the cannon master but I haven't seen it drop ever.
