I got mine after around 30 spiders, some drop 4 at a time so.

THe spiders around where you get the quest dont drop them for some reason, go up to around the entrance of the gorge and the spiders around there drop them.

this drop rate is crap ive been killing these things for a couple hours and i have 8.... yes 8. they dropped well the first 4. i had a total of 6 then. now its like they dont exist. CRAP

The drop rate is definetly wrong!
I've killed more, than 50 spiders, and got NO crystals yet...

Dont be fooled. There are other spiders that drop solid crystal leg shafts. The ones I got were from around the dark iron geologist right next to the outhouse.

Ya, the drop rates are great by the outhouse. You can go a few w/o getting one, but when u do its usually 3-6.

It's not that they don't drop by the ratio, it's the fact that you might kill 10 and then one might drop 4 or something, so it evens out. It seems to go that way too. Rarely get them, and then when you do they can drop 1, 2, or 4

They are really easy to get, I killed 5 and got 20 :D

Every 2-4 spider kills i at least get 3 or 4 legs. Last one i killed dropped 4 so i have 23 spider legs... dunno how

kill 4-5 spiders will give 1-5 drop took me 10-15 min to complete... but 10 - 15 borring minutes

I would like too confirm that the spiders in Searing george, who drops thoose leg's, is not the greater fire spiders or something like that... it is the Glassweb spiders, who is lookated on the way from Searing george-Badlands (in SG)and north of that, 2wards the tunnel it is 3 spiders, 2 of them drops, 1 of them dont

Got my 20 legs from around 15 spiders, thank god coz I usually have a teribble time with droprates!

I got all 20 off of the first 5 spiders I killed, each dropping 4. These are the glassweb spiders right near where I picked up the quest, near the outhouse.

killed 18 of them and got 23 legs

so far ive killed atleast 15 and only 2 dropped the shafts...each dropped only 1 shaft :(

I have found great succes in drops, 1-3 per kill of the Solid Crystal Leg Shafts at LOC 61,69 in the Tanner Camp inside the Searing Gorge. Several of that kind of spider there too 4-6 of them.

Also just to the North and a little East at Loc 63,52 (just above the Grimeslit Dig Site)is a small hill with crystals on it. This is got spiders all over it! Finished up here in minutes.

I went 20/16 or 125% drop rate.

Those of you saying you aren't getting any may want to check that you're killing the right mobs and/or have the quest active.

Hunted them around 66,47 southwards and got about a 40% drop rate. Some drop 4.

I've killed like 40 already, not a single drop! Blizzard better improve the droprate soon! I'm killing the right spiders, I have the quest and I'm going to the spots that you guys thought were best, still nothing. :( help meeeee

You want to hit the spider as little as possible.

I am a 46 Draenei Shaman I just recieved my new rank frost shock. I only used it so I got hit a lot too..

Anyway after 7 - 8 shocks I killed him AS LITTLE ATTACKS AS POSSIBLE and I got 5 drops

quest sux, droprate sux

and there are to less of those spiders,, if the lava would drop it would be better,,

ive killed all spiders i could find, waited for respawn and again,, got 3 of those thing

seems to be through the roof. I got one leg from my first kill, figured to settle in for a long grind.

Was happily surprised when the second spider dropped 2, third dropped 3, 4th dropped 4, #'s 5 & 6 dropped none, 7th dropped 3, 8th dropped 4 again, and the last two dropped 2 each. I ended up with 21. ^_^

They drop 100% of the time in front of the gates in the northeast corner. GO THERE.

lol? The drop rate is 20-30% I think.

And is NOT 100% drop rate in front of the gate... I killed all there and no legs.

took me a while to get my first but as soon as i got one they all came in and iit didnt take long. found my drops next to the outhouse at co-ords 62-70 and around that general area

I got it in 7 kills all the spiders dropped 3 or 4 at once except one that dropped one. They were in between the camp and the entrance.

if someone is having trouble gathering solid crystal leg shaft from glassweb spiders,its not the crappy drop rate,infact its " you ".The point is ,critical hits reduces the drop rate(1 crit = loss of one leg),8 crits = no legs at all....i'm a rogue and i removed all my agility items to reduce crits (was bare naked) and voila! i had 5-6 drops in 1 kill...enjoy

Drop rate on these sucks. 0 most of the time, drops up to 3 in my experience. D:

Drop rate is probably around 25% overall so expect to kill over 50 spiders for this quest. D:

It does take quite some time to get drops. But it is fun. I mean if you could do quest in 30 seconds that would suck. Enjoy the lovely drops like the icemail jerking I got after 30 mins of killing.

Man these drop rates are terribad, gone often 6 inbetween leg drops and there's only like 8-10 spiders in the zone and are quite contested at most times.

The drop rate seems bad but the spiders can drop up to 4 legs at a time. I was about to drop this quest after not seeing any legs on the first 6-7 kills but then completed it fairly easily by picking up 3-4 legs at a time from the spiders that did drop the item.

I hate this quest with passion. I've killed 50+ spiders. Could be 75+ as well over the days. Not a single drop so far. And yes, I am killing the right spiders.

I really hope it is not just a coincidence , however... I took up the quest, started killing right spiders..killed like 30 of them and got 3 shafts.
I came here to easy my pain, well nothing to cheer me up I have found.
And then - on the map, I've noticed one of the quest items - Goodsteel ledger - which is basicaly a book you pick up just at the ^&*!house the quest giver is.
There's nothing special about the book - it just cointans items you need to get to get quest done.
I read it and went back farming spiders. To my suprise - suddenly they started to drop like crazy! x4 x3 and I was done in few short minutes.
Is that the key? First take the book - read it and get to spiders? Hope it works for you guys!

Extras will stay in your bag after turning in the quest. They are safe to delete.

Drop rate is more like 5%. And these spiders drop almost nothing of value, and aren't skinable. Once you get past the legs, it's an easy quest.

Kill with spells not basic attacks.

Pick up the ledger off the ground in front of the outhouse or the spiders wont drop the leg shafts
