These things don't drop from kills. They are littered on the ground, especially around 34,46 area of The Hinterlands.

These are not neccessarily a dropped item... i found they are ground spawn, lying all over the zone.

Thanks for that, i just spent 30 mins killing Owlbeasts for them before i found one on the floor (after checking here of course)

When I was there they were very easy to spot. In relation to the character they seem to be a couple feet long.

easiest quest ever. the feathers are all over the ground everywhere. completed quest in less than 10 minutes

Simply travel from one end of the map to the other. The feathers are obvious and aplenty. By the time you come back, you'll be sick of seeing them.

Very easy quest, with nice exp for a lvl 43 hunter

I started at Aerie Peak (or Point, i cant remember) and walked along the mountain to the Blood Elf refuge. Along the way, I killed lvl 41-43 wolves which were easy. The feathers are strewn all over the place. By the time i got to the Blood Elf area (which isnt hostile to allies, which makes the quest even easier) i had 12 of the feathers i needed. I searched around for the remaining feathers at the camp, and done =) took bout 10-15 min.

These were ground spawns all over the Hinterlands. The huge feathers on the ground get the golden gear and click and loot.

Should have checked this page earlier. The "Favored of Elune" spoke about Savage Owlbeasts. After killing 25 of them and seeing not a single feather I decided to call it quits. Then on my way out of the zone I noticed the cursor changed to a wheel when I moved it innocently over a piece of ground... Bingo, the feathers are a ground spawn.

is there a bug in this quest or something? I have opened over 20 of the feathers from the ground but not found a single quest feather inside.

The feather will be much observable if you set the ground clutter to 1 in graphics settings.

If you're finding these hard to spot, make sure to set "ground clutter" in your graphics settings to minimum for the duration of this quest. There are loads of them on the ground, but if you got clutter set to high, they can disappear under all the weeds.

In Classic:

For me at least, the best place to find them (once I lowered my ground clutter in my WoW settings) was at the Quel'Danil Lodge (in the Hinterlands of course) where the High Elves are (approx 31,48-ish)

I did not have to fight anything, (there were tons of feathers all around the lodge area) and was able to collect all the required feathers in a reasonably short time.
