No one has said "ZOMG WE <3 GARROSH"
I know Hivoltage and Taurenmoo cannot stand the guy, neither can I.
However, the Alliance
is
divided, like the Horde. The only difference is that the Alliance tensions have not bubbled to the surface yet, whereas the Horde's will in Cataclysm.
For example, there's a power struggle between Tyrande and Fandral in Darnassus. Jaina and Varian have completely opposing views on the Horde. The Alliance have never been unified, they are an Alliance of races working together - There has not been a Grand Commander of the Alliance since Lothar, and maybe Turalyon.

K this is great news that belfs and forsaken going to be apart from the horde, I play belf and btw im college student. So no comments on little belfs plz, but seriously if belfs and forsaken going to leave horde its not an issue.
There have been no indications that any race will be splitting from the Horde, and it's not likely. Despite tensions, breaking up a playable faction is a game-breaking idea. It won't happen while WoW is still active.

As a dedicated Hordie, I like it this way. Internal conflict and moral ambiguity make for a much more interesting story than the stasis that is the Alliance. The Allies could use some more internal strife and schisms in their ranks to make them less, well, plain vanilla.

The Horde will be getting Azhara as a zone, and keeping a re-formatted Barrens. The Alliance will be losing Darkshore (given what we see in the trailer). Ashenvale? Who knows, but if Darkshore is a wasteland it will be hard to justify an Alliance presenceActually, Alliance is getting the Southern Barrens, after they torch Camp Taurjo(or whatever it's called out front of Mulgore), which is actually making the Tauren there fortify the entrance to the valley. Alliance is moving North in Darkshore with the destruction of Auberdine, which puts them in conflict with the Shatterspear Village(the dancing trolls). Ashenvale is getting clear cut by the Warsong, and they've taken most of the Alliance locations there, with assaults on Astranaar occuring, so the Sentinel Warsong war is increasing in tension.

Y'know just a little thought but I get the feeling there will be a point in Cata where Varian and Garrosh and in war with each other they beat each other up and then some big Deathwing event will take place (phased) and Varian and Garrosh will end up as friends in the end of it through some dramatic twist of fate or at least have a Warrior's respect each other.... just a thought mind you.

I would like to see something like this happen as well, even if it's just to make Garrosh a little less one-dimensional. Friends, don't see that, but if Varian gave Garrosh a good fight, I could definitely see the Warrior's respect idea. That is after all what Garrosh respects, physical prowess.

Varian respects that as well, and I'll give Garrosh this, unlike Old Horde members, or atleast the corrupted ones, he'd never actually think of cheating in a fight. Garrosh maybe a royal d***che, but he still has honour.

Despite Varian not being the 'Leader' of the Alliance. The Alliance currently does not need a 'Warchief' figure like the Horde. The Horde is a collective of 'abused' races, the Orc's captivity, Troll's losing their home, Tauren and the Centaur, Undead being forced to be undead, and Blood Elves being the Alliance's 2nd class citizen so to speak. The Alliance is the faction who was in majority of power for a great deal of the storyline, thus their leaders of the individual factions do not require a Supreme Commander like Warchief Thrall for the Horde. The Alliance has really does not require, sudden urge, extreme necessity for a single man/woman (Who knows) to control everyone.
Also regarding the comments of the Alliance hiding thier inner conflicts.
That is how you run politics. You do not bother yourself with people's attitudes or their emotional baggage. They keep to the matters at hand, and don't get mixed up in honor feuds of who is a better ruler. They follow a chain within their own cultures to decide a leader. The Horde was formly run by the strongest and smartest Orc. The Alliance follows bloodlines and more of a royalty-style heritage.

EDIT: YES, I do HATE the fact that Garrosh will become the warchief of the horde, and lead them into bloody battles based on personal vendetta
I don't think Garrosh's anger is so much motivated by personal vendetta. After all, what has the Alliance really ever done to him personally? No, I think it's more to prove to everyone that he's as capable as his father, and that the Horde is stronger than the Alliance.
I say this in Garrosh's point of view, not my own.

But then you're getting into the governmental aspects. The Horde and the Alliance utilize two totally different aspects of governance. The Alliance is a group of nations brought together by common interest, with no single governing body. The Horde on the other hand are groups of people who all swear allegiance to a single leader, the Warchief. That is how it's been since the First Horde, and it remains true with the New Horde.

First I would like to say, in WoW, we have just as many instances of Horde problems as there are Alliance problems. With the Horde we see Garrosh's ideas clashing with those of Thrall. With the Alliance we see Varian's ideas clashing with those of Jaina. Granted, the Horde's is different in nature than the Alliance's, but then the Horde has different policies and procedures than the Alliance does.
Second, following heredity doesn't always guarantee you a good ruler. There are hundreds of historical cases of a terrible ruler following a good ruler through heredity. In Warcraft, I only have to point to Arthas to prove that point.

Further, (this is speculation, of course) Thrall COULD be moving onto something bigger, something more important, like becoming a gaurdian of Tirisfal? (Last one was Medievh)
Can't happen, if you read the founding of the Council of Trisfal in Warcraft Legends vol 5, you'll see only a "channeler" can be the Guardian, someone who can focus and enchance the energies and magic's of the Council...... Thrall is good, but he's never shown that power, so unless Blizzard is truly that desperate to have Thrall become some uberKnaak sue.....

Disagreed, he channels power all the time. Just that his source is different (spirits) from previous gaurdians. I say its possible since he is proboly the best candidate for the position.

He may be able to channel the spirits, but he can't channel the powers of the Council of Tirisfal, those of the Arcane, Holy Light, (and Druidism?). Med'an is the best candidate for the position.
