I'm sure I'm not the only one whos faced this problem, so i'm hoping someones got a solution for it.
When my old windows died on me, I was forced to buy a new windows vista. I'm not a tech wizard, infact I can be a technophobe most of the time, so doing things like downloading older version of windows or tinkering with anything like that just goes over my head.
I never had a problem with addons on my old one, and I've been able to download some addons via curse.com on my vista, like recount. But recently I've not been able to manually install any addons I've downloaded, Everyquest, quest helper, Atlas. I try to manually install them to the addon folder but they never appear ingame. The only one that has, like I say, is recount.
Is there any method used around this for vista users without being told to install a different version of windows?

Your problem might be related to 2 things:
You've forgotten to enable your add-ons through the little red "Add-Ons" button in the bottom left of your character select screen.
Your World of Warcraft folder is located in your C:\Program Files directory.
To resolve #1, simply click the button and enable the add-ons you need. To resolve #2, right click "My Computer" and choose "Explore." Double click your C: drive. You'll now see a list of folders, and one of those folders will be your Program Files folder. Before doing anything with it, select "File > New > Folder" from the menu near the top and on the left of the window. Your new folder will be created and the name will be highlighted, prompting you to rename the folder. Rename it World of Warcraft.
Now, open that Program Files folder and find your World of Warcraft folder. Double click it. Once it's open, either drag a box around EVERY file in it, click EVERY check box, or click the first file and hold SHIFT when you click the last file. Press Ctrl+X (to "cut" everything to your clipboard). Now, press the "back" button at the top left of the window. Double click the World of Warcraft folder you created. Now, press Ctrl+V to paste your clipboard into the new folder.
With WoW now outside your Program Files folder, Vista does not require that you have administrative privileges to change the contents of the folder. You'll be able to manually install any add-ons you want without Vista giving you #$%^ about it.
Hope that helps!
Edit: You will also need to edit your desktop shortcut. Right click it, select "properties" and take the "\Program Files" out of the shortcut. Presto! Subservient WoW folder!
