Wowhead's Artist's Corner and Giveaway - Lady Rosse
25/06/2017 à 15:16
Welcome to a new article series that we at Wowhead are trying out! Here at Wowhead we love art, every and all forms of it - drawing, painting, sculpting, woodworking, metalworking, jewelry making, papercrafting, badge making, everything under the sun.
In an effort to share with you all what we love what our wonderful community does we are trying out what we like to call "Wowhead's Artist's Corner"! About once a month we will feature an artist and their craft. This article will feature a small blurb about themselves so that you can get to know them just a bit, show off their art, and learn more about what they do. And of course, there will be a special giveaway for one of their items!
This month we will be featuring:
We spoke with Lady Rosse and asked her to tell us a little about herself.
"Hi! I am Lady Rosse, or Rosse, a self-taught Spanish illustrator trying to make a place for myself on this world full of talented artists. Some people know me as the main creator of the Tauren mascots from the Latin-American World of Warcraft fansite, 'Pastando en Mulgore'; while some other people will have heard about me thanks to my DeviantArt account. In any case, if you have seen my art already it will not be hard for you to guess that I play many different video games, with a special inclination to try all the different flavours of RPGs. I specially hold World of Warcraft and its community very close to my heart, as I've been a regular part of that universe since 'The Burning Crusade'. Today I was blessed to be featured as an artist on the amazing web that is WowHead (which I actually used to find Mankrik's wife xD), although this has been just the last step on the long path that has been my life.
My first steps into the artsy world started very early as a child. In my childhood memories I'm always carrying some pencils and paper on my hands, while daydreaming about becoming a professional painter. But that dream died rather soon on my teen years, when I renounced art for the pursuit of a business degree, which seemed a more secure choice at the time. It was soon after I finished my degree that I realized I could not stand that kind of job, and set my mind to resume my true dream. Thanks to the support of my boyfriend I continued drawing again, until nearly seven years ago I was contacted by the person who would become my 'boss' (and soon a dear friend), Sergan. At that time he was the main figure of 'Pastando en Mulgore', the fanzine who trusted me with the design of their characters, and gave me my first opportunity to truly step on the drawing scene. I will never be able to thank Sergan enough for all that he did for me, because through his interest and appreciation for my work I started growing ever more confident about my skills and abilities. Soon I started drawing, designing and giving life to their mascots on illustrations, comics, chibis... I felt so overwhelming appreciated, since I could see how day after day my drawings improved, while the community started to recognized me. It was about this time when I decided to channel some of my effort to make commissions and customized illustrations, which never seem to be enough to satiate the wow community.
As my career was steadily developing, I realized I needed to reach to a broader audience. To achieve this goal, I went on a quest to appear on every social media, attended some conventions, and was trying hard to be publicly more visible. It was at this time that I joined Twitter, and boy I received a flood of gestures and support for my art. Thanks to this support I decided to try my luck and ventured to create my own website to showcase my art and provide an easier channel to offer my commissions, which was quite a challenge for someone with little knowledge about coding, but at the end turned out to be a really rewarding experience.
The path for self-improvement never ends, so this year I included a new section to produce customized digital badges for conventions and started to stream my art process on Twitch, hoping to inspire the next generation of talented artists. Besides commissions, I love to create illustrations based on the rich lore from WoW, while keeping a lot of ideas on my head to create something wonderful when the right time comes. I don't know where my work will lead me, but I hope to keep challenging and improving myself while working hard to achieve the next step in my path to become a successful fantasy artist. If that ultimately comes to pass, only time will tell ;)"
