WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-Up
Hello! Welcome to the 137th edition of the WoW Economy Weekly Wrap-up!
My name is
Samadan
and I am a content creator focusing on making gold using Professions and
TSM
. I have a number of guides over on
YouTube
and I also stream my adventures on
Twitch
.
Shadowlands Profession Ranks via XP
This week saw in interesting development with the crafted Specialized Armor for example
Grim-Veiled Tailor gear
. The tooltip for the ranks was expanded to include XP levels. It's a very interesting concept to have your efficiency tied to an xp gain, much like your followers in you garrison trade buildings.
Obviously this is still under development, not sure where the Enchanted Lightless Silk comes from and the Optional Reagent can increase an item up to 165, but the base item itself is alreay 175.
That said, the xp option seems to have promise and could add some nice longevity options to end game professions. What do you think?
Komlit's Skinning Farm
Komlit
shared an interesting little extra skinning farm this week that perhaps you could add to your rotation after completing the lock-out on Atal'Dazar.
Hey Guys and Gals! I am bringing you a great spot for skinning that i have not see anyone farm.
This farm can be done with any 120 with low end gear. No need for groups or alts. Here is the results
for the spot its self
Skyrender Eyrie
1,524 Blood Bones
2,512 Shimmerscales
11,392g From Strikers (191)
699g 15 greens
1,258 Trash Gold
11,392g From Strikers
13,349g Total!
As is the nature of these things, your mileage may vary and as an open-world spot it is open to competition. Depending on the price of
Blood-Stained Bones
on your server, you may be able to sell those on the Auction House for more profit.
Gallywix Ban Shockwaves
Another huge bit of news, not directly related to the gold-making community but the shockwaves were felt amongst us was the bans resulting from the
Gallywix organization and Real Money Trading
.
There was a huge amount of gold being moved around and it's bound to have an effect on regular gold makers, quite how far reaching we have yet to see.

suggests ..
I cannot imagine what this is going to do to the wow economy in general. Billions of gold wiped out is rather significant. Regardless if it was just sitting on toons.
I'm willing to bet part of RMT was with these gold sellers for real money that have millions available on each realm. The prices were always on par with tokens (which boggles my mind) but this might effectively ruin the external gold sites if billions are wiped out from server economies which could mean we see a price increase of token as people will be forced to buy from Blizzard if they want gold.
As someone mentioned, BMAH prices might get cheaper now.
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of higher end items get caught up in these bans as well since those can be used as a form of currency to transfer gold between servers. It might be hard acquiring a Swift Spectral Tiger moving forward, etc.
Over here on EU, we saw quite a significant spike and then crash of the WoW Token price, with a similar, but smaller scale blip in NA ..

It will be interesting to see if any markets develop after this and how in general the economy recovers. Have you noticed any change in your own markets?
Levelling Potions and Shadowlands
In the run up to Shadowlands, more and more
changes abound
as Blizzard seek to fine tune the player experience. We learned that XP Potions will no longer be usable particularly for
Elixir of the Rapid Mind
which was a potential investment for some. We saw the effects of the price on many servers, here is a snapshot of Frostwolf on EU ..

Now would be a good time to buy up these potions and make use of them before they become useless!
Tips for Hitting 10k-15k an hour from Scratch
u/feint
has written an extensive post detailing exactly what is required to get setup and how long it will take if you want to go the pure farming route for getting the Brutosaur ..
This is for those who will rely on a solid GPH for Bruto. By no means is any of this info original, but from what I learned from videos and this subreddit.
Late comers like myself will have to slave for hours to make it a reality. Here is a simple break down for the hours to farm 5mil. I'll also include hours per day assuming we have 60 days left to farm. If you are working on meeting the ilvl requirments for the farms below, run Iron Docks as it's a consistent 5k an hour farm (skyhold if you are setting up farm #2 because of the lock out)
10k per hour is 500 hours or 8.3 hours a day
12.5k per hour is 400 hours 6.66 hours a day
15k per hour is 333 hours 5.55 hours a day
I strongly suggest you pick 1 of the 2 farms below. There are other areas to farm but personally find world farming inconsistent (although I'm going to try the Nesingwary's Trek farm soon as I'm set up for it already).
I'm still testing the raw gold portion of Freehold as I'm not specced for this dungeon. So far, my testing places freehold below AD. If anyone has a detailed breakdown of Freehold with at least 20 runs to share, I'd greatly appreciate it (don't need cloth breakdown).
Farm #1 - Freehold Dungeon
This requires to have a character with decent ilvl 440+ and having Tricks of the Trade for Tailoring. Your ideal time for completing this dungeon is 6 minutes (This greatly depends on your ilvl which may require raiding and completing Mythic + on a weekly basis).
You'll want to save the Tidespray Linen and either do the bracer or pants shuffle. You can vendor them unless enchanting materials sell well on your server (at this point you may want Tricks of the Trade for enchanting for extra materials). If disenchanting, crafting the bracers is required. Vendor most drops with the exception of BOE items and maybe the final boss armor drops if disenchanting. Deap Sea linen should be saved for bags as they'll be a seller later on.
This dungeon is more difficult than AD but you can focus on gearing just 1 character.
Farm #2 - Adal' Dazar
This requires having two characters with at least ilvl 430+ with each character being on different connected realms. Multi boxing is an easier solution as you can level and set up your characters at the same time. This dungeon can be completed in 2.5 minutes including the reset (This depends on gear, class and essences). The 3.5 minute mark is fairly easy. You'll need skinning and LW but the set-up is very easy. For skinning you'll need rank 3 bone gathering and shimmerscales. Darkmoon firewaters are needed to skin faster as the skinning enchant doesn't work inside the dungeon. I personally do this farm. For alliance players, you may want to have easy access for mailing.
You'll turn the shimmerscales and blood-stained bones into shimmerscale strikers to vendor. As you'll farm more shimmerscales than bones, you can purchase blood-stained bones from the auction house at 6g50s or below to use up the remaining scales.
The most difficult part of this instance is dealing with fear. To help with this, you may want to look into the heirloom trinket which removes the fear effect. Lastly, you are running two characters because of the 10 dungeon an hour limit. By being in a connected realm, you can change realms and farm on the next character. You can mail yourself items
The post then goes into a lot more detail about how to gear up which is incredibly useful if you are looking to follow this route. I highly recommend giving the
full article a read

Kraken's Routines & Pre-Patch Prep
Kraken Latte
has a great video this week going through her routines and things to do in anticipation for pre-patch..
From a gold making perspective this includes making sure professions are ready and collecting up any emissaries and paragon caches. It's interesting to note how we can feed into these kind of routines by providing said missing transmog, pets and mounts many will be seeking around this time of an expansion.
