Everything Coming to Season of Discovery in Phase 5

Season of Discovery Phase 5 is now live! Players have reached level 60, all zones are available, and we've been getting decked out in Molten Core gear for a while now. That means that you very well might be completely ready for the new content - but what will you do first? Let's take a look at everything that arrived with Phase 5.

Raids
As always, Raids are some of the most anticipated types of content in World of Warcraft. Phase 5 is a good time for it, as we have three of them releasing: Blackwing Lair, Zul'Gurub, and the brand new Crystal Vale Raid.

Both Blackwing Lair and Zul'Gurub have been revamped with new loot, Tier Sets, and difficulty changes. Blackwing Lair even has a scaling difficulty: make the encounters more difficult and earn additional rewards!

The Crystal Vale however is a new addition, as
Prince Tonneraan
is given the World Boss treatment - meaning he now resides inside an instanced portal and has received an updated loot table.
Reworked Tier 2 Sets
The Tier 2 Sets that drop from the Blackwing Lair Raid have been given a thorough update in Season of Discovery. There are now Set Bonuses for each Class Specialization, rather than just one Set Bonus for each Class.
Tier 2 Sets Overview Guide
That's not all, however. Blizzard has introduced a way for players to transform their Tier 2 pieces (with higher Item Level) into pieces that utilize the Tier 1 Set Bonuses. This means that you can enjoy the bump in Item Level Power and still rock your Tier Set Bonus from Molten Core.
To show which is which, your Tier Set items will either be Draconic or Core Forged. When you first buy them with a Tier Token from
, they will be Draconic. You can then visit
Duc Hydraxis
inside the Molten Core to exchange it for a Core Forged item.

We all know what they said. And now you can say it too! With Phase 5 players can combine the two

Obtaining Thunderfury in Season of Discovery
World Buffs
As is tradition with Classic Raids, Zul'Gurub introduces a new World Buff:

But that's not the only World Buff update. The previous Phase 4 buffs (

) will be available through a repeatable quest once a month for players who have already turned in the appropriate head. You won't receive any additional rewards, but be able to trigger the buff once a month without a quest item. This change is also applied to the

While not as exciting as an entirely new Dungeon,

PvP Updates
While PvP wasn't heavily featured in Season of Discovery Phase 4, as Phase 5 begins the
honor gain system has received some buffs
to help players rank up. In Season of Discovery Phase 5, players will be able to
reach Rank 13
!
The changes to honor gains include:
Base Honor Gains doubled
Losing a match in WSG or AB now awards 2 Marks of Honor
Level 60 PvP Quests for AB and WSG that require handing in 3 Marks of Honor, now award
7500 Honor
per turn in

Rune Updates
While we are only getting two new Runes,

, there are some updates to Rune acquisition. More specifically, certain Runes that have a universal acquisition method will be getting an easier way to earn for alts.
If you have a Priest that has confronted

. This token is bind-on-account, and as such you can simply send it to your Rogue to unlock Poisoned Knife!

It wouldn't be Season of Discovery without some actual
discovery
. Phase 5 has added a new questline for each class that takes them on a journey to obtain a class-specific piece of new gear, normally a weapon. These questlines vary in length and complexity, with some being very straightforward, and others requiring multiple raid-lockouts or the completion of substantially longer quests.
