WoW Classic is truly a game for everyone, as HeavyHammerVR has shared the news that his 73 year old dad has hit Rank 13 in the GM Grind!
The heartwarming story touched many players, who shared stories of gaming with their elderly parents in the comments, or even how WoW was a great hobby after they retired.

I'm 74, been playing WoW since Cataclysm, notice that since I started gaming, my cognitive faculties are sharper, especially driving; visual reflexes, my awareness of traffic situations. Plus it's a heck of a lot more interesting than bingo and provides me with social interaction as well.
It's a good way to pass the time, and WoW is great at providing low-twitch ways to progress and enjoy the game. I'm too slow to enjoy raids and dungeons for the most part, but a lifetime of boring jobs has equipped me for doing the emissaries and invasions daily, heh. I go back and solo lower level dungeons so I can get a look at them and enjoy that part of the game as well. As far as negative effects, I'll play too long and not have energy for other stuff sometimes, and my old eyes get really stressed if I play more than a couple hours a day. Also it takes me away from other hobbies, because WoW organizes activities for me, where with my music and other stuff, I have to keep it organized myself. Not a big deal though. I do find myself staying with WoW (and also Second Life for more social stuff) rather than migrating to other games, because it is harder for me to learn new game commands and keys. The expansions are enough novelty for me to keep me enjoying WoW.

You don't think people telling you to shut up so they can hear the numbers is good social interaction!?!
My grandmother is 93, live on her own, even has all her teeth but she complains about not having anyone to talk to and that her mind is going. She loves the casino, bingo, playin cards, etc.. I've been trying for a long time to get her online, not necessarily to play MMOs, but to play cards in groups and but she just refuses and says she's too old to do any of that nonsense... Well Grandma, if you'd just do it it'd sharpen your mind and you'd have people to talk to! Good on you for keeping yourself sharp!
News of the Reddit thread reached the OP's father, who started getting positive whispers in game! He also released a
short video
of him in AV so you can see his set up.
