Spirit

Spirit determines the regeneration rate for your health and mana. A high spirit results in much faster regeneration, while a low spirit gives you reduced regeneration.

(12.5 + (Spirit / 4)) *0.15 = Spirit-based mana regeneration while casting in Mp2, assuming 3/3 Méditation but no Tier 2 gear.

(12.5 + (Spirit / 4)) *0.15 + (MP5 / 2.5) = Mana regeneration while casting in Mp2

Example:Prêtre275 Spirit35 MP5

12.5 + (275/4) = 81.25 Mana per 2-second tick while not casting

81.25 * 0.15 = 12.2 Mana per 2-second tick from Spirit

12.2 + (35 / 2.5) = 12.2 + 14 = 26.2 Mana per 2-second tick while casting (equivalent to 65.5 MP5)

Stamina affects your hit points, no matter what class you play. However, characters designed to absorb damage, such as warriors and paladins, gain more benefit from stamina than classes who have other capabilities, such as rogues and druids, who in turn gain more benefit than pure spellcasters, such as mages.

For a Level 60 Prêtre:

1 Stamina = 10 Health

Hey, correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't the formular for regeneration while casting in your example be "12.2 + 35 * (2/5) = 12.2 + 14 = 26.2 Mana per 2-second" instead of 18.9 since the 12.2 from Meditation are per 2 seconds already.

I've read a great deal about holy priests needing to prioritize spirit over intellect in Classic, but that is dependent upon every healer in the raid using the most efficient healing spells in the most efficient way possible.

That's simply not reality.

For example, the simple and effective advice of casting a greater heal followed by renew, thereby allowing the priest to mana regen before the next heal needs to be cast is *completely invalidated* by the other raid healers sniping your heals with 1.5s cast heals (which are mana INefficient) so they can top the healing charts. Good luck getting a 2.5-3 second heal to land EVER unless you're whole group is in deep doodoo.

Unless your raid has the bare minimum of healers, don't worry about trying to wait 5 second between casting heals. What a joke. In order to even show up on the charts I'm basically spamming downranked Flash Heal non-stop.

For that reason, I'd say after +healing, *intellect* is your friend. You need that big raw mana pool from which to draw, because regen is hardly ever going to happen when you're competing with other healers.
