Actually, this doesn't sound too bad, this + 1 additional topic limit per day, and it should block gold spammers as well.

I approve of both these ideas.
Seeing as I've created a whopping 35 topics since the creation of my account, the need to create 5 new, different topics your first day is clearly not present. Clearly.
Edit: Did I say clearly? And going by my example, you could limit the # of topics created to 10 per year. 15 to give a little leeway.

10/15 a year is not a lot.

Unless they're premium, they won't be able to get to the third thread without their first thread being reported.
Which still helps against gold spammers.

I don't think you can "regulate" your way into a happy, healthy forum. I think the only way to create a quality forum experience is through the
users
. You need a create an environment where people look at the regular posters as mentors to emulate, rather than as a "clique" to be busted into. I don't know whether we've succeeded at this task necessarily, but that I believe is the task set before us.

"clique"
don't mention that word around Adamsm or Deepthought.

It was obviously a failed attempt at being slightly humorous. Allthough I think your and my view on what is "a lot" of posts differ slightly...

I'm going to botch my topic/reply right here - But I'd say over 80% if not more of my topics have been started here in the site feedback. I basically browse, stress, and push limits off what I can do on WoWhead every time I log in to find that ONE type of very exact item for my toons. When I'm doing that, I run across strange bugs (The missing numbers bug for Healing Touch anyone?) - Most of my posts are topic starts in this forum just to get it out there and provide suggestions based on it.
Sure, now that there's a feedback button in the upper right, I could use that - But a lot of times, while browsing, I'll find a bug, report it, and post it here with thoughts on how to improve it, etc. Plus, posting in this forum tends to garnish a faster reply than sending an Email, even to premium :p

Just... slightly...

Just because they don't reply doesn't mean they haven't seen it.

As a side note (Since I finally had a chance to check recent posts) - I have sent emails before. I believe the last email I sent was dealing with the Frag Belt that I reported in another thread. I never saw a reply or a fix for 2-3 days. After I looked at my profile and saw no fix, I noticed the other issue I reported about set items in the same thread. I got a reply within a day or so.
Maybe it was just time off on the post, who knows. Either way, I just feel that posting here seems to catch more attention. :p
