I'm sorry, Elura =(
I should stop following debates that I don't even add to lol. A certain poster is making me want to bang my head against a wall.
I know what else you want to bang, huehuehue.

I've been wondering recently if ...the word like twit but with a different vowel... should be filtered on the site. I understand is relatively quaint in the US but it's really quite crude in the UK. As a UK-based user of the site it's always quite a surprise when someone uses it on the site.
Americans can't even pronounce it properly, everytime I hear one say it it's
twot
as in how we say w
hat
.
Anyone I've ever heard say it, in the US and Britain, pronounces it like cat.
I think it was in "Easy A" (surprisingly good) I recently heard it used to rhyme with cot... I did a double take and was like, "are they trying to say **a*? O.o"

I need to stop joining in debates. I have a feeling I know who you mean, and I agree. I'm starting to question why I held that individual in such high regard before. Maybe I just didn't read debates enough.
Vent chat guys. Not here.

I suppose it should be censored, since it's a slang term for a certain female part lol.
I honestly don't know. My own view is that there's no such thing as "bad words" but as an adult without children of my own perhaps it's an easy thing to think. As a moderator of the site I have a responsibility to maintain the "pg13" status of the site and that word would not be appropriate in a PG film.
So, I dunno, does anyone have any strong views?
Another fantastic word - defenestrate.
How about the word "Shag"? :P considered harmless on the US, but its actually a synonym of the "F-word" on england.

I use shag to mean that and I'm from the US.
ya, but for most of the US folks, the word shag is treated as a relatively harmless term. Even though it means the exact same thing as the "F-word".
Hell, just look at the second Austin Powers movie. "The spy who shagged me". As I recall, when that movie was released in england, they had to change the title to "The spy who loved me" since it just would not do to advertise on billboards and tv the other title :P

Its just a matter of different cultures.
I mean, look at the dreaded "N-word". One of the most offensive racial slurs against black people in english, and yet its spanish version (Negrito) is actually a term of AFFECTION, and endearment.
My favorite Authoress of all times Agatha Christie, wrote a book (its one of my favorites btw) called "Ten Little N1ggers" in english. =/ yet since in other cultures that word is offensive, it was changed to "Ten Little Indians". But wait, aparently indians is also offensive as well, so it was just changed to "And then there were none". Assuming that the words "Then" "None" "Were" and "There" are not offensive to anyone.
But to this day how is that book called in spanish?
Los Dies Negritos
Of course.
(BTW, totally recommend that book to everyone. BEST MYSTERY NOVEL EVER)

Using the N-word in Sweden can and will get you fired from a lot of places, even if the person on the receiving end was neither black nor offended. It's pretty messed up, actually.
