I tried to push the desk but the chair moved instead and I just tilted to the side cause it was too much effort to follow the chair. I'm the best person ever.
Yes, yes you are; and did you hurt yourself?
Also, the spam bots are getting smarter apparently.

I don't get why Portal 2 is so good, if it only lasts a few hours. Considering the price, it's like saying WoW is good value if you're only playing an hour a month. Why pay $10 plus snacks and drinks to go see a movie?
It's a great game, with great replay value. I paid for it out of my own pocket, and I thought it was worth the money.
It's worth noting that I don't go to movies by myself, and if I did, I wouldn't buy cinema snacks/drinks, precisely because they're overpriced. People pay a premium for 'social gathering', and that's reflected in the price, to some extent.Okay, perhaps a better example then is "Why would you pay $20 or more for a DVD when it's only two hours or so of entertainment?"
And again, I earned my money myself, paid for Portal 2 myself, and I think it was unquestionably worth the investment. That's all that matters, really. I personally would recommend it, (play the first Portal first though; it's only $10 on Steam), but if you don't want to spend money on it, that's your decision.

I don't buy DVDs either, typically :P (Nor do I download them, mind you.)
Whether you earned the money yourself is irrelevant to whether it's good value or not. I earn all the money I spend myself, but some things (like the PS3 I bought on the weekend) are less value-for-money than others (like the lunch I just ate).
I can appreciate that people will spend more money on something that they can enjoy with others (a DVD to watch at home included). Just seems strange that Portal 2 is so short - either there's not enough challenge in the game, or there isn't enough content.
Reading reviews online (people who took up to 10 hours to complete), I'm scratching my head at the concept of re-playability of what is essentially a puzzle game. Once you work out how to beat it, where's the replay aspect?
Edit: Happy to take this chat out of the RB if you're interested.

You should; it's quite good, and the Complete version takes the fight against the Sephiroth clones during the Chase of the Highway up to 20...and the actual fight against Sephiroth is just jaw droppingly beautiful even as Cloud and Seph attempt to murder each other.
Edit: Mind, that is the opinion of a guy who watched the Japanese version several dozen times before the English one was ever released in North America, so very very very biased.

Do you not get a free copy of the first one when you buy the second one? VGK said his friend did or something, I thought. You did if you preordered it.

I earn all the money I spend myself, but some things (like the PS3 I bought on the weekend) are less value-for-money than others (like the lunch I just ate).I wouldn't write it off as irrelevant. You might consider it to be a low value in dollars-per-hours of gameplay, but value is measured in quality as well as quantity. I think the fact that I earned it is relevant in the sense that I didn't just have my parents buy my a game and then arbitrarily decide it was worth it. I earned the money, I understand its value, and I believe without a doubt that this game was worth the money I spent on it. You might not, and that it fine. When I said "That's all that matters," I meant that I paid money for a product, and I was satisfied with the product. As far as I'm concerned, that's all that matters.
I can appreciate that people will spend more money on something that they can enjoy with others (a DVD to watch at home included). Just seems strange that Portal 2 is so short - either there's not enough challenge in the game, or there isn't enough content.Well, part of it is just that it's a straightforward game. A long game like Mass Effect or Fallout has lots of side-quests and things to keep you busy. If you make a new character in Mass Effect, and only do the core missions, I bet you could beat it in under ten hours.
Portal is a straightforward game, and I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I suppose they could have padded it to draw out the game's length to some arbitrary point, but that's not good game-designing in my opinion.
Reading reviews online (people who took up to 10 hours to complete), I'm scratching my head at the concept of re-playability of what is essentially a puzzle game. Once you work out how to beat it, where's the replay aspect? You're not counting what makes Portal such a great game, though. Portal did not become a hit because it was a such a great puzzle game. It was, of course, but there are lots of good puzzle games. People loved Portal because of the characters and the writing. GLaDOS, the only NPC in the first game, is funny, menacing, and intriguing. The dialogue is equally memorable. Portal 2 adds at least two more funny and entertaining characters. Even if you know all the solutions to the puzzles, I still play Portal over again every so often because I love experiencing the story and the humour.
I can't force you to like Portal. If you played it and decided it wasn't worth the money, that's your choice, and I can't make you like the same things I do. I myself am very happy with the game, and definitely think it was worth the monetary investment. But I really think you should play the game (at least the first one, if you don't feel like paying $50 for Portal 2) before judging it.
No, of course I'm not getting into a debate in the RB, no sirree... <.< What on Earth would make you think that... >.>
