For the past month or so, we've had a problem where sometimes files are served to users without any information--they're essentially empty js files. The problem is Wowhead gets a lot of traffic and it's not happening consistently enough to track down the exact cause--it's also not happening to enough users for a long enough time to track easily, either. We've applied multiple fixes to try to target what we think causes it and it seems to stop happening, then the issue happens again a week later.
Since it started up heavily again this week, we'd like to dedicate a lot of time to fixing it. However, we'll need your help if you guys are willing! :)
If you encounter a problem loading Wowhead, please submit the following to this thread if possible:
A screenshot of the problem
(you can upload it to any free image host, e.g.
Imgur
)
A screenshot of the network settings
. In Chrome, you can press CTRL+SHIFT+I, go to the Network/Console tabs, and then screen capture that. For those of you using FireFox, you can do the same thing by installing the FireBug addon and screen capping the Net/Console tabs.
If possible, list any additional information like addons you have installed to your browser; the browser you use; the time you experienced it.
Thank you in advance!(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##Ashelia##DELIM##

I'm not sure if this is related or not, but here goes. For a while (one month, two?) I've been getting mostly blank responses from wowhead. I'm using IE9. Typically, the site only serves me the first 78-83 lines of HTML (depends on whether I go to the start page or a more specific reference)(using "View Source").
After a lot of playing around I found several workarounds.
1) (not good) quickly clicking in succession on the "Back" then "Forward" buttons on the top left, I can sometimes get the page to load.
2) (much better) use InPrivate option. This loads most wowhead pages. The first time I try this, I get the IE message at the bottom of the screen "Trying to load page with security certificate errors" I again did a "View Source" but this time doth before and after I clicked on "Continue"
The only difference (other than one apparently blank line) was the code:
<script src="
https://www14.wowhead.com/account=sso?sid=4262a38f5169f9511a0b48d545e8fda5"></script>
In any case I'd really prefer not to have another window open just for the InPrivate use for wowhead. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Acaulis of Uther (Dave)

Yeah, we wanted to see if they were still happening and isolate it with a new post. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately--as it means less people are having it) not many responses, which makes me think the problem is really isolated to bursts.
