Wowhead AddOns (Client/Looter) Issue? Report here!

One of our devs is hoping to work on some automatic retry methods that may help, but there's no guarantee. We've changed a few things now and unfortunately it hasn't resolved it.
It seems likely we're going to have to do an entire rewrite of the client. It's something we've tentatively slated for the final months of the year. A client rewrite has been overdue for years, it's old and using outdated methods. When doing so we can bring it up to the current standards and, theoretically, fix this upload problem at the same time. As you can imagine it'll take awhile to do, so the automatic retry methods I mentioned above are meant to help those affected until we can release the new version.
I'd like everyone to understand though that despite how many people are encountering this issue, we're still receiving plenty of data from unaffected users. We greatly appreciate everyone's efforts, and it's definitely saddening to know some aren't able to get their uploads through the door. Just know that this issue isn't negatively affecting the database in any noticeable way. At least not yet.
Thank you, thank you and yet another thank you for everyone continuing to be patient with this problem.

Please note that this is unrelated to any upload issues etc.
Wanted to post up that we did release a new version of the addon yesterday. This should:
Bump up the interface version. This way, you aren't getting "out of date" addon errors. Yay!
A few additional datamining items to get more info on the site (think of things such as drop information and world quests). Yay!
The addon will automagically update when you open your client for the day.(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##Calligraphy##DELIM##

Regarding the upload issues: I think I'm in the same boat, occasionally seeing:
Thanks for using the Wowhead Client!
This is version 1.9.10, built on March 28, 2018.
Compatible with Legion.
Upload failed: Server timeout.
But, I'm seeing my account credited with the upload being successful, at least I'm getting the reputation for it. So, does that mean my data is getting through despite the error message clientside? I hope so, anyway, whichever it is I'll just keep deleting my file when the error pops up, but I'd be happier knowing it's working after all.

Been facing "wowhead is unable to process your upload at this time" for few days, have to delete looter files and then upload data after a short gaming session. Lots of data is lost by doing this.
Still same issue with larger file size after recent update. I have 2 accounts and not sure if that might be the issue but have you guys tried to check if thats the problem?

I have 12 max toons that I do stuff on weekly, Im constantly swapping around toons when I am playing. I routinely have uploads of over 1mb and the client tells me it is unable to process my upload constantly. There is a ton of data that just is not getting pushed to you guys because of this. And lots of it is new patch content...

I'm having trouble just starting the client. I just downloaded the client and chose the WoW folder. But when it was downloading everything it stopped at the end when updating +wowhead_looter.toc. The same happens everytime i open the wowhead_client.exe no matter if I open it as admin or with my antivirus turned off.

I haven't been able to get Wowhead Looter to work in a loooong time. Considering how much I play, I'd probably be contributing quite a bit, and I'd sure like to... my problem is, whenever I go to update, it gets stuck on Updating fileX 100%
(where fileX is usually Localization.lua)
, and nothing... no error, just sits there. Any ideas?

Seems like the same problem as i have. Sadly i haven't figured out why yet either.

Looks like the client works for me again. I had 4-5 old looter files, all uploaded just fine. :D Time to turn on the looter addon that's been off for the past week or two (during which time I didn't collect date, oh well, at least I could upload the previously saved files that I put aside). :D

Hey, want to let you know, i was able to upload a large file today, in the Account-Specific Data it was around 3 mb, the Uploader it self ended at 1016.5 KB, presume it gets compressed for sending, i had not been able to upload for a long time, but i red the post and thought ah well i give it a try again, and it worked, at least for now.
Thx.

I solved th issue that made me unable to even start the program since whenever it came to the addon it said "Could not update a file."
Seems like my old WoW Legion beta folder was the culprit.
I found a topic in the forum which held solution.

Thanks for the report Lorsicon - (edit) I took a quick look. I had a similar error but on my end, resetting my install folders fixed it.
Small update for those unable to upload - I do have a fix in testing right now that I'm hoping to release either later today or on Friday. Your uploads will still take a little longer to upload if you have a very large file, but with the lua that I tested with, I was able to successfully upload the file. I also updated the phrasing on the error message, referring you to delete the SavedVariables file (as the test files I received were large). I'll still give the disclaimer that this may not fix the issue for all users; if it does not, I would still advise you to delete the file.
For some technical details for the curious - the files we received were between 6 and 10mb. That's not a very big file, until you realize that these are essentially pure text files. That's tons of data that our servers try to process for everything! It seems that most users were hitting this due to server timeouts, in which the server took a very long time to process their data. In some other cases, the data may have also been malformed.
Thank you all very much for your patience, and thank you *so much* to those of you who sent us logs and the lua files. Without your submissions, it would have been nearly impossible to pin down the issue.
Note that once the fix is released, your client should update itself whenever you next open it.
Edit 2: Update pushed out!(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##Calligraphy##DELIM##

I upgraded the client today and it's been a while since I last made an upload. As such, the compressed file was a bit over 1 MB and I was expecting the upload failed error. However, I instead get error 500. I know it's listed as fixed, so I'm perplexed. Is the issue on my end?

Pretty sure you're going to have to clear your .lua files in this case, losing the data, the file size has grown too large. If you update frequently after this process you shouldn't encounter this again since we've fixed the upload issue.

It's rather unusual that you'd be experiencing a Internal Error: 500, especially for so long. Can you check the version of the client you're running? We may also want to double check your login details.

Can confirm this:
Thanks for using the Wowhead Client!
This is version 1.9.11, built on September 07, 2017.
Compatible with Legion.
Upload failed: Invalid status code: 500.

We're going to take a look at this as best we can. It seems to be a very very isolated, < 100 incidents out of hundreds of thousands. I'd recommend deleting your .lua files related to the looter and see if that helps at all.
