The Worgen were first unleashed upon the Eastern Kingdoms by Archmage Arugal during the Third War. Primarily used as a weapon against the Scourge, the beasts soon proved to be a burden greater than the humans of Lordaeron could bear. A mysterious curse began to spread among those who fought alongside the wolf-men, causing them to become worgen themselves. The curse rapidly spread as it reached Gilneas, trapping its inhabitants behind the very walls built to protect them. The survivors of the curse now seek to find a new fate for their people -- their destiny unwritten.Cut the condescension. Are you really completely unaware that that the part where it spreads to Gilneas is completely new material for Cata?

and at blizzcon chris metzen said the gilneas are trying to get to the bottom of where this ANCIENT curse came from.The "curse" in-game right now is not "ancient;" it's Arugal's doing. If they're claiming that it's "ancient" now, that's another retcon.

Go read up stuff instead of griping about stuff you don't know anything about.Oh, the irony.

I said on another thread, that it's possible the Argual curse 'mutated' and somehow mimics the ancient Curse that the Night Elves are familiar with. As for the being near a worgen too long... well, some of the werewolves curses are passed through biting, sharing blood/saliva, scratches, cuts and the like, as well as actual mystical methods. We don't really know how it is passed on: first 5-10 quests have you as a human running with a friend away from a pack of worgen, then you wake up as Graymane forces a potion down your throat, giving you control of the Beast side of your Worgen, but it hasn't said 'how' you end up cursed.

well ya, could've been a bite or scratch. but no, the orignal curse, the one the player worgen have, turns you into a worgen permantly, 24/7, completely unable to revert back into a human.

i mean literally turns you into a worgen. no turning back. until you get the potion shoved down your throat that gives you the ability to temporarly shift into your human form when completely calm.

it's not the way YOU listed it......I don't know, I just saw stuff watching the Blizzcon direct thing, and from what sites like wow.com and mmochamp have been saying, and well, the Curse I mentioned, where their forced to be a werewolf, whether they want it or not, works if your stuck as a worgen till the potion part. I have no idea if there is a point where your running around as a worgen or not. Merely gave a suggestion, but until that point, I'm waiting on the official Blizzard lore for this, everything else is just speculation on them at this point, even what you see on the creation screen, as it's only a partial of the racial story.

no....there are two seperate curses......the ancient one that you get from being near a worgen for too long that turns you into a worgen permantly, 24/7 (the player worgen curse of gilneas) and the one arugal made after the worgen he summoned killed all those people in silverpine that turns people into worgen only at night time.What part of "that's new material for Cata" do you not understand? The original issue was that the worgen were attacking the wrong targets.

might i add it's hilarious you keep acting like the worgen "retcon", even though there is no worgen retcon at all you made it up entirely for the sake of QQ and got a bunch of low life fools to believe you, you seem to be just "ok' with the draenei retcon.There you go, resorting to personal attacks again.

And actually, there are several worgen retcons. And actually, I couldn't care less about any retcon in its own right, as long as it makes for a better story.

What bothers me—as you'd know if you'd been paying attention rather than just trying to stir up trouble—is the inconsistency of the fanbase's response.

draenei are the @sspull, not worgen, if you want to use those terms.Neener neener neener!

And the Gilneas worgen lore was cribbed from someone's old fanfic—allegedly, the same guy behind "the list."

Edit: if you actually read the dam flavor text i linked, not like you ever read anything anyone says to you, you'd see it says it's not the same curse as the one arugal made.Actually, I do read. And again: that's new Cata material. Looks to me more like they're retconning the curse into not being directly Arugal's doing at all.

Stop jumping down someone's throat because they don't agree with you. I know about the potion part, I have been reading the new lore. However, What Has Not Been Revealed Is What The Curse Is; more then likely it's a bite of some kind, because if you could get it from just standing next to someone, why in the world would the Alliance or the Night Elves want that? It would be like carrying around an exposed isotope just because you might need radioactivity for something. Consider what your saying.

Hm, going back to what was purposed earlier in the Thread: Is Akama actually alive or not at this point? It's not really clear on that, if we killed him when we freed his soul, or if we just sorta 'cleansed' it by kicking the crap out of it. If he is dead, would be kind of hard for him to be the creator of the Draenei rogue class trainer heh.

During the final confrontation with Illidan, Akama himself will assist you in battle, although he cannot be killed. Akama leaves the battle during the first phase and is not seen again for the remainder of the battle; however, Maiev Shadowsong arrives for the final phase and remains until Illidan's death. Akama had freed Maiev from her prison cell and led her into the Temple with the aid of players seeking to obtain the that allows entry into the Temple. After Illidan is defeated, Akama swears to fill the halls of the Black Temple with Light once again.

Ah, wasn't sure.. only been in there once, and we had a time limit for some of the guildies so we were just blasting our way through. Alright, well if he's alive, then the rogue thing could happen; probably won't, but we can all hope heh.

He was tortured into death, as the Man'ari Eredar chick tried to use him against Blood Watch.Never directly confirmed. The captured Sunhawk agent implies that he'd been mutated into a man'ari or worse, as does Matis the Cruel. Galaen's journal only confirms that he was badly beaten.

And I agree about Forest Song.It's secluded; it's possible the orcs could entirely overlook it. Especially if magi, shaman, and druids were all working to keep it secluded. Especially if someone got a heads-up from Velen.

Is it just me, or are there almost no Draenei outposts outside the islands, (excluding Outlands of course). I have been all over Northrend, and I;ve seen dwarven, gnome, night elf, and human outposts, but I haven't seen any Draenei ones. Does anyone know any I might have missed?
