It has been several thousand years since the turbulent events of 0 ADP - 50 ADP, and Azeroth has changed much since then. Technology, spearheaded by gnomes and goblins, grew in leaps and bounds. The goblins then lost the last of their superior intelligence, leaving technology into the hands of humans and dwarves, along with the gnomes.
The Horde paid dearly for Alliance technicians, who sold them Alliance technology secrets, before the Red Scare. Horde agents were seen everywhere. Persecution of neutral races rose, until soon all races had joined the Horde or the Alliance (except for some select groups, such as the Tuskarr or the Iron Dwarves).
Paranoia turned to suspicion, which turned to hate, which turned to violence. War broke out over Azeroth, with southern Azeroth, the Lost Isles and Western Kalimdor as the major theaters. After bloody fighting, the Horde eventually lost, barely. Their natural tendencies towards war matched the Alliance's technological improvements.
After the war, factions changed significantly. The Blood Elves split into their own nation, known as the Empire of Eversong. The Forsaken soon split as well, forming the United Republic of New Lordaeron. The Orcs, Goblins and Trolls stayed together in one faction, and kept the name 'The Horde.'
The Humans of Stormwind started to view the Worgen with suspicion and distrust, and eventually the Worgen seceded from the Alliance. The Gnomes and Dwarves split to form their own country, known as the People's Democratic Republic of Dun Morogh. The draenei, Night Elves and Tauren all seceded to form their own state as well, known as the Northern Kalimdor pact, forming The Union of Northern Kalimdor.
The Humans, outraged, put all their resources towards military technologies, splitting themselves off from every other nation, until they emerged 20 years later armed with the latest advances in technology. They annexed all other human nations, then they declared war on the PDRDM, eventually defeating them and adding them into the growing United Union of Humanity.
The UUH then declared war on the URNL, but were eventually pushed back. Frustrated, the UUH turned it's efforts towards the EE, forcing the Blood Elves back into the city of Silvermoon itself, then bombing it with artillery for seven straight days, known as the Week of Blood. When the smoke cleared, Silvermoon lay in ruins, and the EE surrendered.
Thus united, the UUH turned it's efforts back towards the URNL, and were eventually dragged into a five year long war with the URNL, eventually ending with a peace treaty ceding all of southern Lordaeron to the UUH. The URNL then grew to become a leading power, opposite of the UUH.
The Horde declared war on the UNK, and fighting enveloped all of Kalimdor, eventually ending with a three day siege of the Exodar where the draenei surrendered, becoming a vassal state of the Horde.
Presently, both the UUH and the URNL are working on highly classified projects, known as "Manifest Destiny" and "Shadow Ascendant" respectively.
The UNK is preparing for war against the Horde, to liberate the Exodar.
The New Empire of Eversong rioted in the streets of Silvermoon and declared itself independent of the UUH. The UUH mobilized forces to reseize Eversong, and were surprised when they were rebuffed by the NEE. The NEE is now working on solidifying it's base, while keeping itself free of the UUH.
The Horde is keeping a close eye on the UNK, who recently are suspected to have sponsored the Furlbolgs to attack Durotar in a bloody two year war, which weakened the Horde enough for the UNK to consider taking the Exodar.
The URNL recently turned its attentions to Northrend for an unnamed reason, and have rebuffed any attempts to find out. The UUH worked overtime in placing agents within the URNL, known as witches, the URNL responded with "witch hunts" to find these agents, and burned them at the stake.
Terrorists have recently struck at several key points in the URNL, targeting oil wells, magical schools and chapels. About two weeks later, they started to hit the UUH as well.
Tensions between the two powerhouses rose, which erupted into all out conflict in the city of Stratholme. The UUH has refused to take responsibility, claiming it was rebels.
The URNL didn't accept these claims, and 3 days later they declared war.
Right, this is the WH40K RP I was talking about which evolved into a kind of modern/futuristic RP set in a war ravaged world. I kind of did the politics on the fly, but I attempted to keep them hopefully as real as possible.
In Azeroth, there are trains, planes, submarines, ships powered on natural gas, etc (but no cars). Warfare is conducted with ranged weapons, not much melee, except for the Horde, who have gone on a campaign for the perfect soldier, eventually ending with supersoldiers armored in power armor.
You can play pretty much anything. There aren't laser guns or anything really futuristic, yet. I'll announce "Manifest Destiny" and "Shadow Ascendant" in the RP when the time comes for us to know what they are.
Basic rundown:
Humans/Dwarves (unwilling) and gnomes (unwilling) = UUH who are against everyone.
Forsaken = URNL
Tauren, Draenei and Night Elves = UNK
Orcs, Trolls and Goblins = The Horde
Blood Elves = NEE
Worgen = United Kingdom of Gilneas, or UKG.
All of these factions are against the others currently, although I think it'd be neat if people went about being ambassadors and writing peace treaties.
Also, please post your faction in each post! Thanks.
If I forget anything, just shoot a post in the Q&A thread which I'll have up shortly.

Character: Matthias Bridgewater
Faction: UUH
Location: Arathi Highlands
Description: Matthias is moderately tall, with black hair and blue eyes. He wears a long coat, a conical hat and carries an assault rifle and two semiautomatic pistols on him at all times.
History: Matthias was born in Stormwind, where he went to school as an architect, but dropped out. He lived on the edge, having no money or place to stay for several years, before joining the army just after the UUH declared war on the URNL.
He later left the army and rejoined with a mercenary teams three years later, known as Shadow Cross, named after the Dwarven mercenary group Stormcross.
Matthias crouched in the brush next to the Thoradin Wall. “There’re nearby…” he grunted to his companion, who nodded.
“Aye,” his companion, George, replied. “They’re probably set up behind that stand of trees up the road. If we can take out that artillery station, then we can let the others through and the offensive can proceed.”
Matthias nodded. “Then let’s get moving.”

Matthias motioned to his sniper, Richard. "We've any witches in that group?" Richard asked.
Matthias shook his head.
Without further comment, Richard opened fire. Three bursts, and three Forsaken fell. The artillery post fell silent. "Go, go, go!" yelled Matthias, and he charged forward. Whipping out a pistol, he blasted a Forsaken, killing him instantly. Silcence reigned over the post.
Matthias pulled out his radio. "Station has been removed. All clear."

Name:
Bahak Stonebreaker
Race:
Tauren
Faction:
UNK
Description: Bahak is an average sized tauren, around 30 years of age. He has brown pelt and part of his left horn missing, cut off by a shrapnel. He wears a chest armour with shoulder pads, reinforced pants, gloves and a visored helmet. He is armed with a heavy machine gun that, depending on the situation, he fires either from the hip or from set-up. The machine gun has several barrels that rotate as the gun is fired to prevent over-heating. Bahak also carries a large amount of ammo-belts with him.
History: Bahak was born in Moonglade and trained to be a soldier from the very start. He has been working with a small strike team on several recon mission to the Barrens area.
Location:
Ashenvale
Bahak was laying behind a bush. They had been waiting for hours now. The Horde's scouting party should have already passed them. On his left lay Rana, their night elven sniper. To his right were Birna and Losak, a night elven explosives expert and their dranei marine sargeant. Birna had his finger on the detonators button, and by pressing it two bazookas placed to the trees would fire.
Rana gave a slight mark as she had spotted a group closing on the road. 30 meters...20 meters...10...5...Detonate. The bazookas roared as they fired off the rockets. Bahak pulled the trigger of his machine gun and fired one long chain towards the enemies he could see.
After just a couple minutes they had checked the bodies and disappeared back to the forest.
- "Lumbercamp? This is logging party 3, we have lopped a tree", radioed Losak to their basecamp.

Matthias holstered his pistol, and was just about to check the bodies, when he heard the familiar hum. "Everybody down!" he hissed. "Blackwings!"
Indeed, the Forsaken aircraft, all steel one-winged monstrosities, soared over the stand of trees. The answering hum of Alliance bi-planes launched from a nearby Airborne Carrier answered them.
Dogfights whirled overhead, but soon the Forsaken were pushed back by sheer numbers. "Where are the AA emplacements?" asked Richard, snarling at the sky.
Matthias shrugged. "No idea. Perhaps they hit some... 'road trouble'."

((OOC - here we go.))
During the Third War, an ambitious and powerful paladin emerged in the ranks of the Blood Knights of Silvermoon, one known by the name of Kareithel Arroval. So natural seemed his affinity to the Sunwell's holy radiance, so strong his charisma and so fierce his dedication that all his peers and many of his enemies bowed to him, deeming him the Blood Lord of Quel'Thalas. For several millenia Kareithel guarded the borders of his motherland, forever remaining but a humble servant of his people and never striving to claim the throne.
Two thousand years before the present day, however, a threat emerged in Ghostlands, its magnitude unheard of ever before. For one of the Old Gods decided to send its minion, none other than a Forgotten One to assault the elven lands. Kareithel Arroval was the one to face the challenge, and perished in a battle against the monstrosity, taking it with him and ridding Quel'Thalas of his malevolent presence.
Now, with war tearing the world of Azeroth apart, Kareithel's last remaining descendant Seriell seeks to bring her fabled ancestor back to life to restore the elven might and bring peace to the Eversong. Few her are allies, and yet their powers are formidable enough for her quest to be bordering nigh impossible but not quite reaching it, for none other than Kareithel's Horrible Duo still serve his bloodline.
Character
: Seriell Arroval, Hardcore Jaws, Cyrus
Description
: Seriell is a relatively young blood elf, barely topping 5' in height. Her skin is rather dark for a blood elf, result of many days spent in areas such as Uldum, Tanaris and Silithus. The characteristic green glow of her eyes is too weak to obscure her irises from sight, and her stare is cold and calculating. A ponytail of her crimson red hair is held by a simple band and reaches just below her shoulderblades. Seriell has received advanced infiltrator training, and took a few steps on the path of a blood knight as well - that is, before the Sacking of Silvermoon when she lost almost everything she held dear. As a homage to her ancestor she can usually be seen in black and red armor of a covert operative bearing phoenix designs and runic enhancements. Seriell's emotions have been dulled by her losses, and her quest is the only thing that she deems important. Her weapon of choice is a long barreled .50 pistol which she wields with deadly accuracy, but there are always more weapons on her person - far more than meets the eye.
Hardcore Jaws is a millenia old death knight, having butchered his way through countless conflicts alongside his companion, felblood warlock Cyrus. Jaws is over 6' tall and brawny, the impression strengthened by a set of Scourgeborne Armor and an over-sized prosthetic jaw made of titansteel. Other than that and the distinct ice cold blue glow of his eyes, Jaws looks like an average sin'dorei, with sand yellow hair and pale skin. Having had thousands of years to hone his skills, Jaws is a master over all death knight disciplines and has accumulated numerous runic weapons, several for each of the fighting styles he adopts. He is not above modern technology, however, and proves it by adding a six-barreled minigun to his arsenal - a weapon that he fondly calls '
The Silencer
'. Jaws is calm, reserved and not without a twisted sense of humor.
Cyrus the warlock once was a prominent member of the Shadowsword, Kael'Thas's elite that were 'blessed' with demonic blood.during the Sunwell crisis. He battled Kareithel and lost, but was left alive, dooming himself for an eternity of service to the Blood Lord and his descendants - a decision he had never even began to regret, for Kareithel was a generous master indeed. Cyrus's charcoal black skin with numerous fel-seething cracks all over it can rarely be seen, for Deathbringer's Garb covers all of his frail yet tall body. Ruling over all aspects of warlockdom alike, Cyrus's signature move is a devastating storm of fel-infused lightning, and he rarely relies on demons to do his bidding, preferring to slaughter his enemies first-hand - not that it renders him unable to summon a swarm of felhounds if the situation is dire. Cyrus is completely amoral, and among his war crimes are numerous rapes, tortures, pillages, humanoid sacrifices and much, much more. He is viciously protective of his mistress, however, not only because of the Blood Lord's mark on his skin but because he longs for the days when Kareithel poured rewards on him in exchange for his services.
Location

ERI.
The trio walked swiftly through the Ghostlands, towards Arroval's Rest - the very place the duel had happened more than two millenia ago.
"They wouldn't understand," Seriell said quietly, looking straight ahead of her. "No one in the upper echelons has our vision. Their minds are unable to cope with the thought that only our master can save us."
Her voice was apathetic save for one word - 'master' - which she whispered with genuine fondness.
Cyrus shrugged, "The mathter will not be pleathed onthe we wake him up... For a while. Onthe we explain the thituation to him and he taketh the reinth, everything will change."
"Yes," the Blood Lord's heir nodded. "Everything."

Name; Garlogg Blastbruise
Race; Orc
Faction; The Horde
Description; Garlogg is a short orc, with braids of messy black hair running down his neck. His skin has a grass colour, which helps him with camouflage. He only wears the most basic armor to preserve his mobility, excluding a mechanical device on his wrist. He calls this gadget the 'WarWrist', and it allows him to communicate with his allies, scan the surrounding area for life forms, summon and stable his pets, etc... He uses a large blaster gun and a technologic monocle that improves his aim.
Background; Garlogg enjoys a simple life. He was born on the Lost Isles, and has never traveled elsewhere. He is part of the skeleton crew that guards the islands for the Horde. He is largely apathic towards the ongoing war and political situation.
Location; Lost Isles.
"Stop that, Sting-Sting!"
The massive green Scorpid refused to reply, and continued to lash out at the bush before him.
"Hey now! Leave the- Sting-Sting, I said- hey! That's it, I'm putting you back in!"
He pressed a small red button on the WarWrist and pointed at the Scorpid. His pet was lifted of the ground, shrunk to miniature size and sucked into the machine, ending up in a pocket dimension until he was called for again.
"Ok, let's see..." Garlogg turned a little cog on the WarWrist and looked at the figures appearing on the screen. He selected the image of a large feather and pointed to the sky.
A massive hawk, his beak as sharp as a razor, flew out and perched on the edge of the cliff his master was standing on.
"Alright, Sufferwing," Garlogg sighed, looking at the enemy ship approaching from the distance, "Time to welcome these b*tches to Horde territory!"

Choris Darkwater
Faction: Witch
Location: Eastern Plaguelands
Choris Darkwater was one of the few to accept the call to become a witch, the UUH spies in URNL territory. Using fel magics, he disguised himself as a Forsaken, and journeyed to Tirisfal to infiltrate the government with a partner, supposedly a travel partner he met on the road to Tirisfal from southern Lordaeron. She was caught three days later.
He is not under suspicion yet, but nevertheless is cautious. He wears a long coat which he hides several daggers in, along with a pistol.
Choris watched dispassionately as the flames rose up his partner's body, listening to her screams. He couldn't give himself away. Not yet.
He nodded to a Forsaken next to him. "Grisly, isn't it?" he rasped.
