Hey
I'm a lvl 70 Restoration druid. I have just been 70 for about two weeks. I decided that I wanted to try both raiding and PvP so i went Resto, healers should always be wanted in raids and I had heard that that they do very good in 2v2 and 3v3 Arenas.
I have teams in both brackets and I do fairly well, I'm not very good geared so the teams doesn't have very high rating but we're winning at least as often as we loose.
I'm going to be on my first raid on Tuesday and I'm looking forward to it. Now, the problem is that Resto just doesn't seem to be my thing. I've been thinking about going balance since it seems cool and I like the thought of being a plate armoured caster. Problem is that while I understand moonkins are powerful in 5v5 but seem to be very usual at 2v2 and 3v3. I have also heard that they aren't liked in raids. I haven't spoken to my raid leader yet but there is no other moonkin in our guild so I'm not sure he'll like it.
Can moonkins compete with other classes in 2v2 and 3v3? How could i convince my guild leader to bring a moonkin to raids? And how do you deal with the fact that druids share their set tokens with Warriors and Priests? It seems pretty obvious that the healers and tanks will get to roll before the dps, that would mean that I would have to wait longer to get any good gear.
Can I get some help here?

I don't know about moonkins in arena but in guilds I think the best think you could do is show dedication by work. Like mages getting spellfire/spellstrike sets ( which are potentially replaced at BT/MH)
-Get the LW Moonkin set.
-5% crit is not something to ignore.
- Moonkins usually resort to buying/rolling on non-set cloth items which are widely available.

PvE wise (i'm doing occasional PvP but am not serious enough about it to comment) :
The 5% crit is usually not a completely convincing argument for raid leaders, there are classes out there with better bonuses for the raid (elem shaman and shadow priest mainly). Offhealing, innervate, battlerez, yadayada, those aren't really deciding factors either (but always worth mentionning).
However, 3% hit for melees and especially tanks, while being a constraint talentwise (basically you won't be able to get more than 2 points in subtlety), has a bigger impact. Add to that the -2% hit on the boss you're fighting and those are some nice raid bonuses.
However, they won't be worth anything if you do not also hold your own dps wise. Moonkins are hard to gear as said by previous posters, but once you get the gear it's largely feasible to be a regular in the top 5 dps.
And to get to that point, don't hesitate to take caster cloth if the stats/bonuses are better, armor won't bring you anything anyway.

simply do like this. Tell your officer about the +5% crit to your casters/healadins. Then tell her that Moonkins are the specc that has the easiest time ressing up other ppl and saving off their innervate for a healer, meaning bringing a moonkin that knows his game is decent dps. But allso 2 backup persons since you can resss and innervate. On top of that if you save your healing gear you can do really well offspecc healing since the most common moonkin raid speccs is very close to dreamstate resto druids. Meaning bringing 1 balance is bringing 1 extra combat ress 1 extra mana pool for the healers 1 emergency healer all in same person. If your officer says no to that he must be very ignorant. (and you can mention Insect swarm too, since the 2% a mob will miss it is actually equal to giving the tank 2% more avoidance, and nobody complains about that)
Last word... imp FF is not worth the talent points since at TK/SSC state of raiding everyone should be more or less hit topped off if they aren't slackers.

Tanks won't be capped in hit usually.
