Tier and Season gear?

Hell-o!
Can someone, anyone, explain what are these Season # and Tier # gear people are talking about? How is Tier or Season equipment defined? And finally,
how to
get these fine pieces of armory?

Tier gear are the item sets for each specific class that drop in raid dungeons. Though technically the tokens drop in the dungeons, and you turn in the tokens to various NPCs to get the actual gear. Season gear are the item sets purchasable with arena points earned in the PVP arenas.
A few examples;
Tier 4 (T4) tokens drop in the entry level Burning Crusade raids: Magtheridon's Lair, Karazhan, and Gruul's Lair
Tier 5 (T5) tokens drop in the next level up: Serpentshrine Caverns and The Eye.
The season numbers just denote when the item was introduced. Season 1 gear was the first ever arena gear. Season 2 came after it and has superior stats. Season 3 gear is better still. Currently, Season 3 gear costs as many points as Season 1 did when it was new. Season 2 costs a bit less, and Season 1 gear is now purchasable with honor.
