Don't be so sure about that. The Origin period always throws up some odd results.
We lost to the Panthers.

Don't be too upset.
I am a Newcastle local, and we got rolled by the Gold Coast, and they weren't that good. We were just that bad...lol
Some of my work mates went to the game, apparently there was about 15 thousand there, 5K of which left by half time, and another 5K left during the second half, by the end of the game they reckon there was only about 5K left, and most of them booed the Knights off the ground...
We also lost to the Titans. Our only 3 losses

You're complaining to me. My team hasn't fielded a full strength team since round 1

Hey. Sorry to barge in and break the thread with a non-Australian talking about Australian things. But it looks like I'm to visit Sydney soon for work, and I've never been. Is anyone from around there present who can answer some questions about the weather, places to eat and such? Google maps says the area I'll be is between Haymarket and Darlinghurst, if that makes sense?
You're pretty much smackbang in the middle of the city then. Visit the Pitt St Mall for food, there's everything there. The weather is a mess, four seasons in one day kind of stuff. Looking for something to do? Ferry to Manly is a really cheap, exceptionally beautiful, harbour tour that will take you from Circular Quay(key) to the best beach in Australia. You can also go to Taronga Zoo which offers breath-taking views and a mother#$%^ing live bird show.

Awesome stuff!
Pitt St Mall is probably a bit far to walk for food (20+ mins walk). There's great cheap food in Haymarket, which is our Chinatown area, otherwise, Darlinghurst and Surry Hills has pricier but also good options.
If you can give us a nearby cross street around where you'll be staying/working, we can give you more ideas.
Also, how long will you be here for? Would be awesome to catch up if you've got time.
Oh, and answering the question about the weather, it's currently sunny skies, with daytime temps around the mid-high teens (celcius).(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Squishalot##DELIM##

Thanks chaps! Squish, I didn't know you were down there. I'll only be there a few days but it's not clear yet whether I'll be working non-stop or have a lot of time to wander.
Well, maybe we can catch up for dinner one night, if I'm in town at the same time (been doing a lot of interstate travelling, and heading to Perth next week). I live in the CBD, so it's just a short walk over for me. Maybe try to extend the trip for the weekend or something.
For location, it looks like I'll be staying at a hotel right next to the park with the Anzac memorial, I've forgotten the name of it. If I wanted to head across the bay to the north side, should I take a cab or public transit, by the way?
Is that the Mariott hotel? Or one of the smaller ones?
Depends on where you needed to go - public transport is the best way to get to 'North Sydney', as in, the suburb, but there's a lot of area north of the bridge that doesn't have good transport options, so you might need a taxi.

Sheraton on the Park - awesome place. If you get a chance, you have to check out the buffet (at least, if work is paying for it!). Otherwise, I've got a buy-one-get-one-free card/voucher for use there.
Actually, that means you're closer to the middle of the CBD, rather than then Chinatown end...
