I went Human for the rep. increase.

Hmmm. I noticed I never put in the bit about what race I chose and why in my last post, though I think vaguely intelligent readers could infer from it that I went Dwarf, and at least one of the reasons why I did. :)
Anyways, I *did* go Dwarf and had Find Treasure for one of the reasons - being able to spot those lockboxes and go right to them is quite convenient. Never having to buy food or cook & fish (though I do both, especially the latter) is also great. :) I've also preferred Dwarves in any fantasy game I play that has them as a race, regardless of any special advantages or disadvantages they might have.
I've also got a Blood Elf Rogue on the go since I got TBC recently and wanted to see the sights - and my Dwarf Rogue (now level 44) has shown me that Rogues are the best way to go for that. :P

Went Human for appearance, initially. Then I learned that hey, I picked an awesome PvE race and didn't have to reroll, hooray!
Mind you, this was long before raiding had ever entered my head pre-BC.

Not a very good breakdown. Just lore and one liners about the racial abilities - and the "Good for all classes, no specific benefit to Rogues." attached to Dwarves for Find Treasure (I'd call being able to spot locked footlockers on the minimap a rather good benefit for Rogues - but of no benefit at all to the other classes) makes me question the credibility of what little information (and there isn't much, actually) is in the Choosing a Race sticky...
The thread was intended to be simple and layman to avoid repeat threads of this ridiculous topic. Choosing a race, regardless of class, is ultimately one of the most trivial and exhausted discussions that could develop on any forum. Telling me that it is strategic and tactical to choose one race over another is complete bull$%^&. I will find a top rated PvP rogue of which ever race you choose (applicable races only -_-) and you can go ask them how they could have possibly done it without the "optimal" racials. Lets look at this as an example:
Human Rogue vs. <Insert Race Here> Rogue
Assuming equal skill, Perception will not win this fight. Why? Because for equal skill to be equal, the Rogue facing the Human needs to be able to counter perception, whether it be simply waiting it out, pre- vanishing, distract > ShS > Sap, etc. If he loses to Perception, he is not equally equipped to fight Human Rogues, and his skill is therefore not equal to his opponent.
Undead Rogue vs. Warlock / Warrior / Priest
Again, assuming equal skill, take the above example and replace Perception with Will of the Forsaken.
(I'd call being able to spot locked footlockers on the minimap a rather good benefit for Rogues - but of no benefit at all to the other classes)
...Engineer anyone? Besides, if locked footlockers are the reason you roll a dwarf, I /pity you.
...makes me question the credibility of what little information (and there isn't much, actually) is in the Choosing a Race sticky...
If you care to dispute the credibility of the information listed in the sticky, please feel free to point out my factual errors cited with your source. There isn't much information listed because there isn't much information
needed
. Hence, the very reason the continuation of such a topic is asinine to begin with.

If they were equally skilled, shouldn't the Human Rogue know these counter tactics, and work against them?
Yes, and assuming equal skill, shouldn't the opponent know the Human knows? Its an infinite circle that will not come to a conclusion, else Blizzard would change it.
It's not going to win the fight on it's own no
So you agree with me.
