We have a cat and not "in" but on, occasionally, yes.

If I had a dog, I would never let him. If I had a cat, she could sleep wherever she'd like, except for the kitchen table.

It's not. People get into bed, so an animal would get in bed too. He's saying that the animal doesn't get under the blankets, I think, and kind of just rests on top of everything.

ohhh.
Shows what I still have to learn regarding english.
In spanish, we just use the word "en". There's no "in" or "on" just 1 used for all occasions.

My cat's never slept on my bed, because I sleep with my windows open, and the last time she was in my room she fell two stories and practically gave us all a heart attack. She's also an indoor cat. Of a night, we usually keep her downstairs, so she sleeps wherever in the kitchen/lounge.

It depends on which of the critters we are discussing.
For the cats they do when they decide to sleep on the bed with us. For the dogs, the Bijon does, but the other brother (80 pound Plot Hound/Lab mixes) the sleep in their crates on the back porch.

in our case, my cat Bianca always sleeps in our bed. Right next to my feet she does.

I use my dog as a hot water bottle during winter.
In summer it's usually too hot for her to be on the bed

I would if she was interested but she likes the tiles of bathrooms or kitchens, it is cool and she has a big fur coat so she like it.

My dogs
, live outside, but only because if you let them inside you'd be breathing in dog hair for the next month, you'd be finding dog hair in your keyboard, in your speakers, in your food.
If I let my dogs on my black sheeted bed, it'll turn white.
You could brush my dogs hair for 5 hours and still be getting hair off them... crazy thing is, it never looks like they ever lose hair.

gg my dog has wool. (Mum is actually allergic to dogs but loves them so we get specially bred ones)

Interest
Yes, but sometimes she doesn't. Pretty hard to jump on a bed in the dark, I'd think (and my dog has a tendency to roam about the house at night).

One of our dogs sleeps on her own bed, and the other one sleeps under the bed itself..so i guess that would be a no.

Anything can work.
Do
they work most of the time? Not from what I've seen. I think it all depends on the people involved and what kind of relationship they have.

I think in the majority of cases, no. However, for periods of time IF both are committed they can work, but it can cause strains with separation. I am thinking military and deployments primarily on this, but I have seen some outside the military that have extended away times and it causes little issue in the relationship.
