I don't really have a stance on it. I don't like it, but it's necessary sometimes.

Question 334.
Dragon Age 2
- I expected an epic game with an inventive narration-based plot and action combat. Really, I didn't expect DA2's combat to be anything else than what it ended up being. Were all the people who expected it to be something else blind? BioWare have shown combat sequences in tons of vids and a
bloody demo
before the game released, and then someone buys it and is surprised that the combat system isn't this and that. But really, the biggest disappointment was the botched narration. The story was quite generic, and kept throwing these really bad moments that you absolutely couldn't do anything with, the biggest hit in the gut being the ridiculously stupid incident with Anders in Act 3, but the investigation related to Hawke's mother was also extremely stupid and I totally wanted to approach the problem differently, but it just wasn't possible.
By the way Rank, I would disagree with you on two things in Dragon Age 1. I played a rogue who was a complete meat grinder, better than any mage I had in that actual playthrough (the main character is always the best mage). And the world in Dragon Age 1 is far from gritty and dark. Look at Witcher 2 and try comparing things.
Diablo 3
- I'll just say I wasn't disappointed by this
that
much. I never played Diablo 2 past Act 3, so I lacked the strong nostalgia that some people felt. Also, I basically got the game for free and with added benefits with the
Annual Pass
, so I didn't give much crap about Error 37 or the general lack of fun the game offers.
Fallout 3
- Words can not describe how dumb this game is. It does have some enetertainment value, sure, same as pretty much any game that gives you a gun and something to shoot, but the world, for which I loved the old Fallout games, was filled with such atrocious violations of common sense that whoever came up with some of the ideas should be moved to Call of Duty, or some similar franchise where no harm can possibly be done. Retarded black/white morality choices (Tenpenny tower ghoul problem = kill all the racists -> good solution, kill all the ghouls -> bad solution, NO OTHER SOLUTIONS), retarded lore modifications (Brotherhood of Steel on the East Coast, Harold on the East Coast), and just generally retarded things (republic of Dave, AntQueen&RoboMan superheroes, childrentown, giant robot spewing anti-communist propaganda, blowing up a town with a nuclear bomb "because it is an ugly stain in my view of the nuclear wasteland"
(actual. in game. reasoning.)
). The world presented in Fallout 3 would be more worthy of a movie starring
Leslie Nielsen
, rather than of a Fallout sequel. (Thank the gods for New Vegas.)
Gothic 4: Arcania
- I wished for a game that would not be worse than Gothic 3. I got a steaming pile of !@#$ that didn't even make sense. I love how the devs were like "oh yeah we are totally doing a revolutionary thing with the combat system"... bull$%^&. It was an ultimate spam-leftclick-to-win. The
4.4 user score
on Metacritic is well deserved. You think Aliens: Colonial Marines was bad? Oh, that game would have to drink a lot of rotten milk to be as bad as Gothic 4.
Question 335.
I believe some problems can only be solved through violence. It greatly depends on the persuasive skills of the individual (or diplomatic skills of the group/nation). Some people can talk their way out of anything. Some people can't. The people who can't have to defend themselves in the situations that the talkative people can solve. Defensive violence is still violence. And even the most talkative people can not talk out of some situations.
Violence is never a good solution to a problem, but sometimes it is necessary.
Violent media can be an inspiration for people with tendencies for violence and sociopaths. I don't think violent media can create the tendency for violence (or sociopathy) in a person. It is possible that a person's behaviour would get worse upon viewing violent media, but it is the fault of that individual person, not of the media. Violent people create a violent society, and it will always stay that way whether violent media exist or not.

I certainly don't want to go back to the days of the "A Team", where hundreds of rounds are fired off with no injuries. I don't want to see fist fights where somebody gets kicked in the head and gets up with nothing more than a little trickle of blood running from their lip. I find it insulting and offensive when news reports consider war zone footage "too graphic to show". If more people saw the results of violence, they might be less inclined to indulge in it, or support it.
Just a quick note that warnings about graphic violence or censoring of some of it on news reports is also do to with trying to not activate any trauma triggers, and give those it may affect a chance to change channels.

I'm not denying that the world in Witcher is MORE dark and gritty, but the one in Dragon Age is far from rainbows and bunnies. Did you take a look at how the Darkspawn create their broodmothers? YUCK! On the first game, there's rape, racism, genocide, slavery, human sacrifices, and more. The setting IS dark and gritty. While the setting of the witcher is even more so, it doesn't really diminishes the one in DA.

I'm the kind of person who likes to run and workout outside, and with the snow still showing up it's kinda prohibiting my activeness. But come summer time (or, aka: when it's not snowing, since it does snow in June here), I'm definitely incredibly active.

I play frisbee in the park several times a week in the warm season, but otherwise no. My metabolism is still running at 90%+ efficiency, so I'm taking full advantage of that and doing nothing while I still can :P

The way broodmothers were created is
cheap
. Coming out with an evil that is made of rape and murder and stomping on puppies is easy as hell. Black and white morality is easy as hell. Who said that villains in fairy tales can not do pretty bad things? The problem is that by merely looking at them you can identify them as villains.
To create a truly dark world, you should not try to mix a blacker shade of black. You should explore the grey. The worst evil is the one that is tempting, not the one that is repulsive and that makes any sane person turn from it. Villains in adult fantasy have their reasons for why they do stuff. They are often charismatic (Letho, Iorveth, Síle). They can tempt. They can truly test the resolve of the hero (and the player). Dragon Age had great potential to offer grey morality in the form of blood magic, if only all the blood mages (aside from your main character), that you encounter, weren't super evil and murderous. This is slightly improved in Dragon Age 2, where there is a staggering amount of TWO blood mages who aren't super murderous beasts. It doesn't help that they are both companion NPC's, and that they do stuff that ranges from unlikable to seriously stupidly bad in the game.
Question 336.
Fairly active. My job is occasionally physically demanding. Which means... I spend most of the time here sitting by the pc. But I am a main assistant of this woman who takes care of every minor or major event that takes place on the university, and let's just say that when a lot of crap needs to be carried somewhere, I am often the one who gets the job, unless it involves driving. So I occasionally walk around carrying kilos of fliers and booklets and standing banners and maybe some chairs and tables and such.
Outside of my job, I am a member of two activity groups. A group focused on medieval dancing, and a group that does medieval archery. It means that four days a week, I have to attend "training sessions". Monday and wednesday for dancing, and tuesday and thursday for archery. The sum of those pretty much results in a full body workout for me, since my legs get a lot of strain on the dancing sessions, and my arms get a lot of strain on the archery. Weekends over the past few months have been rather calm, but that is soon going to change, as I am an active performer for both of those groups, and we perform a ton. So as soon as summer hits, I am going to spend my weekends in various parts of Slovakia, Czech Republic and Austria (I have heard rumours that we might venture into Germany and Denmark with our archery performance), performing and all-around entertaining during the day and lying on the ground in a sleeping bag by night.
We are doing a dancing workshop on a fantasy convention in two weeks, might have some photos to show.
Also, me and my girlfriend love trekking. We are planning a couple of cool adventures for this summer. :)

I spend practically all my free time (and most my time I should technically be using to study) on the internet. I'll let that answer itself.

But Dragon Age HAD that type of Villain in Loghain. A really gray character. He did a lot of evil stuff, but he was still at his core, doing what he believed to be right, I guess I'm a little biased about it cuz I read the Dragon Age book "The Stolen Throne" which really gave A LOT of insight into the character that is Loghain and really helps you understand him in the game. Comparatively speaking, Witcher IS superior to Dragon Age, I'm not arguing that, but when it comes to creating a dark and gritty setting, DA is darker than what you can find in several other "high fantasy" games like Final Fantasy or kingdoms of amalur.

#336 Do you live an active life?

I used to be very active when I was between the ages of 11-15. I used to play several sports as well as weight training and working out when I got a little older. However (and the sad part is, it was when I started playing WoW haha) I stopped being physical and just.. sat around.
So an unhealthy lifestyle combined with the stress of a bad breakup a few years ago caused me to gain 15 lbs. Which doesn't SOUND like much, but on a petite 5'0" frame it really is lol.
Well, I'm turning 21 this summer and I've decided it's time for me to get healthy. I've been trying to eat better, and work out a little bit, and in just three short months I've dropped that extra weight as well as a pants size. My confidence is boosted, I am in a better mood, and I am less stressed since I have started this routine. It's honestly great :D

I walk (fairly quickly) for an hour a day (usually), lift weights and do basic crunches, pushups etc.
But otherwise, not really.

I'm very active, and travel, by foot, several miles almost every day, carrying lots of weight on my back. I'm physically fit, and have never been stronger than I am now.

Not really. I don't exercise much. However, my job can be pretty physically demanding (those Sunday papers are heavy, man).
