I'd just taken the portal to Deepholm to go Stonecore and start farming Slabhide for the Vitreous Stone Drake. As soon as I arrived in Deepholm I was warned by SilverDragon that it had found a rare and it popped it's target frame for Aeonaxx! In total surprise I clicked on the frame and straight away was targetting Aeonaxx! I frantically ran out, mounted up and started looking to see where he was. Leaving the Temple I went left and immediately lost him, quickly did a U-turn and re-acquired him, he was at the SW spawn location, slowly flying in what seemed to be a circle. I very quickly flew close enough to enable the "mount" cursor, all the time fully expecting someone else to have mounted him. But there didn't seem to be anyone else around so once in range I clicked on him to jump on and begin the "fight". SilverDragon popped it's target frame for Aeonaxx but I just ignored that and started attacking, while he flew northwards I was watching for the whelps to spawn, when one did I just hit them with a single Arcane Shot and then returned to attacking Aeonaxx.

It didn't really take very long, maybe 3 or 4 minutes (possibly even less), I only had 3 whelps spawn but soon enough Aeonaxx died and I was falling to the ground with a parachute. Once I landed I looted Aeonaxx to claim my reward.

I haven't been camping nor have I spent any time searching, I was just simply in the right place at the right time, in the same way that I got Time-Lost Proto-Drake.

After 8 days of extremely hardcore camping, i finally got this beautiful mount today at 3:02pm at Frostwhisper EU server time. And as far as i know, Frostwhisper share crossrealm with Ragnaros and Neptulon here. Both EU ofc.
I've only seen two Blood Seeker spawns, and two Aeonaxx spawns. The first time i was too late and a paladin from Neptulon got it before I did. But today, luck was on my side. I am the happiest girl in World of Warcraft! lol

You are aware you need to clear WoW's creature cache in order for npcscan to work optimally?

Inside your WoW directory, navigate through Cache/WDB/enUS/creaturecache.wdb

Delete this file and hey presto, your npcscan will be fresh and shiny and new. No need to worry about what is or isn't scanned already. As far as I'm aware, doing this semi-regularly is absolutely necessary for anyone using it, but if anyone knows of updates that have changed this, I'd be delighted.

Let me start off by saying that i previously tried camping aeonaxx for about 3 to 4 months after cata, averaging anywhere from 10-18 hours a day, But gave up. I figured i would also write a Post as When i was camping for aeonaxx i really did enjoy reading most of the comments.

About 2 weeks ago I started to camp for Aeonaxx again, I camped in-between the NW1/NW2, below are the journal entries The first set are on a CRZ realm, and the second are on a NoN-CRZ realm, i switched to a non CRZ realm as i did lose aeonaxx on one then more occasion because of CRZ:

Day 1: Bloodseeker at 11am/10 hour camp

Day 2: Nothing/ 12 Hour camp

Day 3: Aeonaxx killed @ 1pm, SE1, By horde/3 hour camp

Day 4: Nothing/20 hour camp

Day 5: Nothing/4 hour camp

Day 6: Aeonaxx killed @ SW1, by alliance/19 hour camp

Day 7: Aeonaxx killed @ 1 am, NE1, By horde/6 hour camp

Day 9: Aeonaxx killed @ 10am,NW1, Missed by miliseconds, Killed by unknown(Phased out)/21 hour camp

Xfered to Non-CRZ realm:

Day 1: Nothing/-15 hour camp

Day 2: 9:15pm aeonaxx spawned/SE1/15 hour camp.

Day 3: Nothing/ 8 hour camp

Day 4: killed at 3:15pm AT NE1, 12 Hour camp.

Day 5: Nothing/14 hour camp.

Day 6: Nothing/15 hour camp

Day 7: Nothing/20 hour camp

DAY 8: Nothing/22 Hour camp

Day 9: Nothing/18 hour camp

Day 10: I Got aeonaxx at 4:30pm ,7 hour camp

A lot of the time while waiting, i was playing Xbox 360 or watching movies.

Side notes: Take off guild sync in silver dragon(Gets very annoying).

I must ask, does Aeonaxx show up on hunter tracking? As a dragonkin, green dot, perhaps?

Hello guys!

I have something to tell you: JUST GOT MY AEONAXX ! :DDDD
Camped for a week and 2 days, a total of 9 days and almost 200h. I just want to tell you to don't give up,really. That may be a insane camping, and also fustrating but let me tell you something: THERE'S NOTHING BETTER THAN THE FEELING THAT YOU MADE IT.
I've been trough a ninja, who stole aeonaxx in front of my eyes once while he was camping for 30 minutes for everyday ( i spent a lot of hours everyday! NOT FAIR !)

The point is that those comments helped me a lot and gave me the strenght to keep moving on. I had 2 CHARACTERS camping in DEEPHOLM, so i could cover the 6 spawning points. Both toons were in a party and my main character was the master looter. Well, my alt account mounted on him i just needed to take care about killing aeonaxx right in front of my main so i could loot it. AEONAXX SPEED WHEN YOU MOUNT HER IS SOMETHING ABOUT 500% so that may be very difficult.
I recorded some camp data, really hope it helps you guys :

Today I missed Aeonaxx spawn two times.

I saw Aeonaxx fly away and phase out once.
Crossrealm makes it so much harder..

My guildie Yamithun and I went on a 4 hour rampage looking for Aeonaxx. We never did get him.

It was very upsetting to me as I was new and wanted a dragon mount more then anything at that time. I was all over the place trying to get one. I haven't the patients to wait for something that long. The only way I think that I would ever get Aeonaxx is by luck if he was to spawn within my 4 hours is too much window.

Instead I settled for the Bronze dragon and had never gotten Aeonaxx... I feel this time around I will be a bit luckier since I know the spawn points.

What is this about Aeonaxx phasing out, would somebody explain that one to me please?

After farming Aeonaxx for 2 years passively and never seeing him or Blood-Seeker, I decided a week ago to do nothing but seek him out. At 6:36pm server time this evening my NPC scan goes off, it's him! I'm camped between NW1 & NW2, he spawned at NW2. I flew over to him and the grey mount arrow appeared. I continued flying all around him (I couldn't get any closer, as I was contacting him and right clicking the whole time). The arrow never turned green and a horde flew in and scooped him up. This led me to a few questions, is there a sweet spot to make the arrow green? I'm assuming over top but I'm almost certain I tried that. I say almost because I was still in a little shock. Another question is related to CRZ. How do I know what realm I'm in? If I go back to SW and come back again, am I in my original realm or does it automatically change realms sometimes, meaning that I don't have to wait the minimum 6hrs because I may be in a different one? The reason I ask is because another ally was telling me to go back to my own realm a few days before when we were camping the same spot, even though I was there first. TLPD was much easier for me because I only had one realm to worry about when I got him a few years ago. Any helpful input would be greatly appreciated.

Just got him today at 4:53pm eredar US time! I had just dozed off and my NPC scan went off! You wanna see a man jump out of a quick snooze lol. I was camped between NW1 and NW2 again. I think he spawned at the NE spawn point. He was in mid-flight but from what I was reading, it's most likely that he spawned there. I didn't notice any whelps but I was completely focused on dps'ing him down. The flight there seemed like forever and I was certain someone would tag him before me, especially considering what happened yesterday. There were also horde camped at NW1 and the NE when I fell asleep minutes before. I'm not sure how I got so lucky. There was nobody to be seen anywhere in the area. I was beginning to hate the realm merges because of the extra competition but now it may end up helping me because my server was almost dead before that and the extra kills while skyshard hunting for my next rare may hopefully increase the drops. Good luck to all! I just wanna say that persistence is the key. There were times when I got frustrated with both Aeonaxx and TLPD but good things really do come to those who wait!

Bloodhoof US - Was camping on 1/17/14 at NW spawn point and at 14:20 EST (server time) NPCScan went off, got to the big guy (who was right behind me) and the arrow even turned green, I clicked, the screen started to change and I got kicked back to my mount to allow the :$&!*#@ Nelf Druid who clicked a half second before me to take it. A bit of nausea set in.

Moving forward, started camping on 1/18/14 at NW spawn point early AM and at 10:40 EST (server time) NPCScan went off. Aeonaxx's fate was in my hands this time :)

This was a 20 hr. 20 min. spawn rate (I suppose it's possible he spawned in between that time as I wasn't over in the area for much in between).

Interestingly enough though, the first spawn here, there wasn't anyone else around, so I don't know if him spawning allowed me to see someone from a different realm or not, but I was pretty sure I was the only one in that spot - maybe not - either way don't be too casual if you get the luck on your side.

Finally got mine after 2 years camping off/on.

I was watching whole series breaking bad, all 5 season and I haven't witnessed 1 spawn, (camped for about 13 hours a day for 5 days)

I didn't even have Blood Seeker in cache, so on the 5th day that I didn't really have anymore stuff to watch, I was really discouraged.

My friend told me to stay though, I didn't really see the point in wasting all that time for nothing, but turns out 2 hours after he told me, I was finishing my food and took one last flyaround.

And, hes there southspawn, flying in circles, my npcscan goes nuts as I made a loop sound to go for 30 minutes (when I went to sleep, incase he spawns so I wake up)

Needless to say, I finally got it after about 108 hours of camping on a low RP server!

Killed Aeonaxx 4:54 am Server Time on Mandoran Server. Came from Org was spawned right in front of the entrance.

Dont give up, i simply do dailies each morning and NPC scanner does work, he popped up as soon as i got into deepholm

I've started my Aeonaxx camping March 4, 2014. I've not moved my hunter an inch, except for going to Hyjal to unlock Magria and Ankha/Ban'thalos, and twice going to Storm Peaks to patrol TLPD's route. The subtle beating of wings play in the background, with the sizzle of the hippogryph's tail. The deepholm music, I fell deeply in love with, soothes me.

Day 1;

No Aeonaxx spotted, nor Blood Seeker.
I've been patrolling for around 3 hours now, nothing spotted.
A troll hunter starts spazzing in front of me, and tries to shoot me, but alas, falls to his death.
Poor guy.
After two minutes of his endless torrent of shots, crows, and falls, he lands on a pillar to hearth. I land after him, taunting him. I pull out my loque'nahak, Desire, and he pulls out his. We move left and right rapidly before he oneshots me (I was level 86), and hearths.
I ressurect, and I continue my journey.
I come across an orc shaman, who is flaunting his Phosphorescent Stone Drake near the entrance of the Earth Pillar. He dismounts and boards his Vitreous Stone Drake.
What a showoff.

Day 2;

No Aeonaxx spotted, nor Blood Seeker.

I've patrolled an hour, constantly switching, logging, and camping.
The routine is normal. I fly off to Jadefang's lair, but she's not there.
So I fly back and sit there, while watching some youtube videos.
NPCScan blares in my ear, and I scream.
It was a false alarm, caused by a tamed Blood Seeker.
I don't know if it's possible to tame him, maybe it was a bug.
I get back to my duties, sadly.
I count the horde today, and a total of 13 have come today. 2 alliance.
It's lonely here.
3 are camping the Quartzite spawn, while one hunter, who I seeth in rage just thinking about him, camps the NW ones.
Here's the catch; Gank-a-topia.
Yep. He would not leave me alone. I fly by him, when I hear the familliar arcane shot, and then, boom, I'm dead.
I watch my corpse fall with him, but he DE's right before he hits the ground, thus saving him from death.
Ressurect. Didn't get my foot out when he Explosive Shots me dead.
Ressurect. I fly away quickly to another spawn, and round back to check spawns 40 minutes later. Still there. He seems afk, so I do /silly repeatedly when he targets me, and shoots me. I don't die, but he sends a Murder of Crows after me. Luckilly, 280% mount speed outruns the crows (I'm broke, okay?), and I avoid death. He mounts up, Arcane Shot, dead.
This process repeats 4 more times, before I finally Camo and leave.
No, I stopped taunting him after the 1st death, but he camped my corpse.
I come back 3 hours later, still there. I fly on top of him, and he sends a crow after me.
I escape, luckily. Then he leaves. Finally. Serenity to the world.
Screw you, Acope.

I read through the forums to find a less populated server, and I'm making my new Nelf Priest on Rivenholdt, the server with no CRZ, praise the lord. And it's RPPVP, which should be refreshing.

Day 3;

It's 1:17 am, I'm huddling in my bathroom with a glass of milk, doritos, and a fuzzy blanket. I've put off my priest, who I've childishly named Aeonaxx, for giggles. Takes me forever to level, but I'll do it one day.
I took one round for my hunter, parked in Deepholm. Nothing.

I feel lost, and dumb, and unlucky, and not there at the right time, and sad.
But what overwhelms those, is hope.
Hope for a bright future, of riding my Phosphorescent Drake everywhere.
I'll get you one day, Aeonaxx.

8:02am
I continue the hunt, parking myself near the stonecore entrance, where most people report he spawns. A shadow priest just sat on top of me and also camps.

Not so fun if he has faster mount speed, due to broke.

Two horde here have TLPD. Jealousy growing.
No alliance so far, except a DK who flew into the portal as I Tpd in.

It's lonely.

8:30am, started priest.
Fellow Aeonaxx camper made a char and, said he freaked out when he got "Aonaxx" in Teldrassil, lol.

6:31pm;

Logged on 4 minutes, ago, almost had a heart attack when I saw Aeonaxx. But it wasn't him. It was the same orc shaman who was flaunting it near entrance. He had both the Phosphorescent Drake and Vitreous Stone Drake, so unless in spite and hate, I don't understand what else he needs here.
I'm deciding to stay put most of the time near entrance, and take a round every 4-50 minutes, and sit back on my terrain of camping ton.

7:38pm;

I went around to kill the giants for giggles, and I've counted a total of 18 horde, 2 alliance.
Sigh.

10:28 pm;

I'VE NEVER SMILED SO BIG! NO, I HAVE NOT ATTAINED AEONAXX, BUT I HAVE TAMED THE LEGENDARY SHINY CRAB, KARKIN!
SQREEECHING NOISES.

Day 6;

I have not camped Aeonaxx much lately, due to being bored and testing my luck.

In these days I have tamed Ankha, Magria (Thrice, I couldn't get a COO so I just tamed her and renamed her Sapphire, before that I watched a Hordie tame her.) Deleted and reclaimed Karkin, Found Ban'Thalos thrice, (First I deleted Karkin due to full stable, and paranoia, Second I helped a friend tame him, she almost died, phew, and third, I murdered him....I admit to shame and I DID ask everyone in the area if they wanted him.), Deth'Tilac (Twice, Tamed once -I had to leave before I could down him to 20%, so I came back 6 hours later and he was still there, next time I watched a hunter tame him, whom he relates to...) Kirix, (Found him once, tamed while struggling with two other opposing faction hunter) Found Skarr twice, once I tamed and second I observed him and left, Found Skitterflame four times, yet no Anthriss.

I'm planning on leveling my priest to 85 then kicking her into Deepholm, because I literally made a DK just to see the areas, and I went in storm wind, /who'd and one other guy, level 6.

So I feel greattt!

Day 7; Nothing, no rares sighted anywhere. Around 8 people on my side in Deepholm, even more on the Horde.

Day 8; Today I decide "Today is the day, man. You gotta camp seriously if you want that drake."
So as of now, If there is a free spawn point, (It's early morning right now, the only person I've seen is a leveling Belf Hunter) I'm firmly camping it and taking rounds every so often.

I belieeeeeve in myself.

Day 9; Nothing yet, I went to the Molten Front and saw Kirix for a third time. (I go to rare spawn places just to have the satisfaction of hearing the NPC Alarm and seeing it.) A tauren druid and two warlocks tried to kill him, while I rofled on the "taming" rock like a hysterical hyena. He wiped the poor souls. But the tauren stuck around, thought I was trying to tame, but I had him, so he killed Skitterflame and Karkin, and a poor hunter came by during him killing it and nerdraged and ganked him around 15 times before the tauren left, lol.

I've been reading guides and sticking to one spawn point seems to be more efficient with random intervals of flybys, but making it quick.

This mage, "Firefox" has been circling the spawn points for over 2 days, didn't mention him before though. Mage was on 2 days ago, started circling, and never stopped, while I was there. I was on for a couple hours, and his dot flew by every so often. And yesterday, camped for a while, still doing it, and today, I've been camping for a bit over half an hour and he's still doing it. This is why nonCRZ realms are better.

But yep, I have around half an hour left before I gotta go, then I'm logging in around 1am and staying till 3am to camp.
