There was actually a pretty good write up of the strengths and weaknesses of Mastery recently on
wow insider
.
Specifically the bit about Demo is pertinent to what you're saying AWildmann. Essentially as gear levels rise Demo's output (not just AoE as that article describes but single target also) becomes increasingly polarised to very high when in Meta and very low at other times.

Yeah I see the point, its really too bad that mastery (even for demo) is not always that great. I wish they would do something about metamorphisis do make it a constant effect or something. I still manage to give a nice dps on raids but, I wish I could do better, feels like the spec is holding me back no matter how hard I try.
Sure we add 10% spell power to the raid, but that doesn't mean we have to suck at it for this. Other classes add similar effects to raids and still manage to give out better dps.

Well, only Elemental has that buff and saying that they do better DPS
isn't really accurate
.
Demo is fine but it's hard work and requires a pretty deep understanding of the encounters as well as the class.
edit: btw, Ding! I now have 10 level 85 characters!

One of each but I've got another DK on the way up, levelling as tank with a friend.

So, my guild hit 12/12 last week and killed Nefarian.
And I wasn't there. Because I was playing LoL. And now I feel sad.

Grats on the progression! Even if you weren't there yourself, I know in my guild there were people who were there for Nef attempts that own the final kill every bit as much as those that actually got him down. Without them being there for the learning process it never would've happened.

How sad, that the one to carry your name is a rogue.

@Kangi
Grats on the kill! I'm personally hoping for my group's first this coming thursday. A few 30% wipes after only seeing phase 3 for an hour.

Interesting info! Thanks.
We tried 30minutes of practice on Magmaw which was difficult for our two hunters (in 10man). Not sure yet if we'll keep trying with that or try something else next. We're not really trying to progress properly, just pick off a couple of the easier ones and stay sharp before 4.2 comes out.

@Asakawa Magmaw isn't to bad on 10m. Just have a good kiter for the maggots, and your outside ranged has to be on there toes, and if you got that it's a snooze. We 1 shot it every week. The strat is actually easier to follow then regular mode imo.
The kiter we have sorted but the outside ranged is our issue I fear.

@asakawa yeah, its quite true, even though we gotta do a hard effort sometimes it pays off, demo has great potential and I would love to see some buffs to increase our chances.
Also gratz on the 10th character, I'm leveling a death knight, gonna be my third 85, after this one I definitely have no plans of leveling another one, I basically tried all the possible specs so far (tank, healing, ranged and melee dps) and it seems enough for me, even if every class has unique ways of doing it.
edit: lots of typos

Well, that was kinda the plan but the hunters can't get close enough to the boss so we ended up with pillars and meteors in the group.
We could get it I'm quite sure but I don't want to push the raid group too much with heroics. As I said earlier in the thread, they're about half and half wanting to do heroics and not really wanting to so I'm just trying to sneak them in while no one's looking ^_^

Thanks for the offer but I'd never leave my server, even temporarily - plus I think you're not in Europe right?
It may have sounded like I'm regretful that we're not pushing for hard modes but I'm really not. My guild's fantastic so I'm really in a position where I would only want to do this stuff if it's with them. If we can get a couple more hard modes done before 4.2 then I'll be very happy. If not then that's fine too, but I'm the one that kinda plans this stuff which is why I'm asking about it.

Grats on 10. I got 4 and am bored as he! with leveling. Maybe a 5th by the end of Cata, but thats it.
Do you have any duplicate classes? I currently have an 85 druid, have a 60 druid, and just started a new one this past weekend. Idk why, their just so damn fun.
am I the only one here with a large gap in toon-levels? not counting a DK that I would never play, I have a lock and warrior at 85 and then nothing above level 30 ^_^ I was more or less sticking hardcore to my lock when I began playing in wrath and all the way to cata, but now the winds have changed. The lock is slowly becoming my pve toon and gold maker, and I find myself spending more and more time warrior-pvping. losing the passion for lock pvp does make me a bit sad, admittedly.
so there's a mage, druid and rogue hovering around lvl 30. which one would you guys dust off for the sake of having the most levelling fun? mostly solo, not dungeons. or roll a completely different class?
